    Each ounce of vodka is 64 calories (assuming 40% ABV). That's 512 calories, not counting the mix. So... yeah. ;)

    OP, I know you try to follow LCHF. When you follow that WOE alcoholic drinks will ALWAYS immediately kick you right out of nutritional ketosis! Then it takes some time (the amount of time varies from person to person) for your body to drop back into nutritional ketosis. Sooooo...if you are drinking alcohol 3 times a week, you are also then presumably knocking yourself out of ketosis 3 times a week too and YES that will greatly slow down your weight-loss progress specifically in connection with this WOE. Mind you I'm not against a drink now and then myself, but I haven't had a drink since I changed to this WOE on 09/01/2014. I am of the mindset that I've worked way too hard to get my body into nutritional ketosis to want to knock it out of nutritional ketosis just for a silly drink! That said, I have already decided that once I get down to my weight-loss goal, I will allow myself to indulge from time to time and lord knows that there have been a few times when I was REALLY craving a drink! lol

    So, even if she maintains the same calorie intake, going in and out of ketosis would "greatly" slow down her weight loss rate?

    Yes. Because she is CONSTANTLY bouncing in and out of nutritonal ketosis - and that yo-yoing can be hard on a body.

    WOE = Way Of Eating

    I guess I'm trying to figure out how "hard on a body" is the same as "won't lose at the same rate." If the calorie count is the same, how would the ketosis fluctuation change her rate of loss?

    Yes, because I had beer last night and ate 2 pieces of salted caramel chocolate pie, which was over 1,000 calories alone, and now I am pretending that last night never happened, and this is an episode from "Sliders", because that was way way way over having a deficit yesterday

    Thanks for everyone's help!! I think I'm gonna change my drinking to once a week and see if things change for the better. If so then I will TRY to cut it out all together. I need to decide what I want more the alcohol or the leaner healthier body!

    Whatever changes you make, just be sure to give it enough time to properly gauge its effect. For what it's worth, I've been losing weight steadily without cutting alcohol out of my diet. I just make sure to work it into my calorie goals.
