The last 15KG is the hardest..

I have around 15 kgs left to lose, I have lost a total 34 kgs so far. And my weight have been stagnant for the past one year. I am no longer obese, just a little chubby but I have not reached my goal weight yet. Honestly, I have lost the will and the motivation to push further...have been on and off exercising the past one year, and on and off watching calorie intake for the past one year, has anyone ever stayed stagnant? How do you push further? Please, any advice?

I am down to my last six kgs and it is much more difficult to be vigilant as a lot of people are telling me I don't need to lose. I really have to struggle to find my focus these days but I am feeling a bit better about it again. What is helping me is taking a hard long look in the mirror in just my underwear. I still have flabby arms. I still have a belly. There is still much improvement to be made, why stop now?
Is there a particular goal that would motivate you? For some a fitness goal works - running a particular race or something like that - for others it is a size of clothing to fit into by a certain time. Dare yourself to do something and set a time limit for achieving it.0 -
If you've only been watching your calorie intake "on and off" there's your problem.

Well, I'm an L size now by normal standard wear, I'd like to be an M, and have less fat around the belly area.. Thats my goal, I'd like to be M by Feb 2016. Sounds workable enough, I hope..0 -

The core problem is because I no longer have the motivation to push forth. Thats why its been on and off... The purpose of this post is to get feedbacks from people who's at least gone through what I have and see what they did to get back the motivation.0 -

I can think of two ways to go about a change although there is probably a third.
1. remember how focused you were in the beginning and the things you did successfully
or
2. find new reasons to lose weight since the old reasons are no longer working. Make a new plan for yourself.

I think it really is a motivational issue, I don't think I need to lose any weight, I just want to and that's why it's sooooo hard to motivate myself to do it. I am trying to think of it as a new, separate journey instead of an extension of the weight I had already lost. It seems I have good weeks then I'm almost sabotaging myself the next and I just keep on spinning my wheels. It feels like I'll never get there. But I'm going to keep on trying because I know if I really knuckle down I can do it. It is hard.
Edit to add: I regained 4kg and had to lose those all over again, I find a slower rate of loss helps a lot. I was aiming for 1kg per month instead of 1kg a fortnight as before (but seems I cant even motivate myself enough for that now..) and I made sure to get enough protein to keep me full. Chewing gum and flavoured teas definitely helped me and tried to have a treat every few days so I didn't feel deprived. It gets exhausting imo, I'm almost fatigued from losing weight and I just want to be done already! Wish I could just get to that weight and start eating at maintenance. It's only a slight difference in calories to maintain at my goal weight than it is to maintain at my current so that's a huge motivator to me too.
True, i have bad weeks and good weeks as well. I have started counting calories but have yet to start on the exercise regime0 -
My suggestions would be
1) like someone suggested above pick a different goal, like a race event, etc and see if preparing for that helps you focus
Or
2) try eating at maintenance for 4-6 weeks as a mental break, still logging & exercising. Weight loss is a form of low grade stress. That's good, it causes our bodies to change after all! But sometimes after a long stretch of pushing on a long journey it is okay to sit a spell where one is and regroup.0 -
If you've been at the one weight for a year basically you have been maintaining - some great feedback already but from what you say about wanting to be a M rather than an L should be enough to keep you focused. Time to tighten up the logging, be consistent and slowly but surely you will lose the remainder ....wishing you all the best
You mentioned that you don't exercise, well its the perfect time to start, its amazing the boost you get mentally as well as physically from working out

You might find that the body recomposition topics in the maintenance forum give you some goals to aim for.
I've got just over 10kg to go, and I'm on the verge of becoming a regular over there.0 -
I've been trying to lose the last 5kgs for months! I've just been in diet fatigue mode0
