throwing up calories? NOT purging.

gross gross gross, TMI i just threw up for the first time since starting my new diet & i think it's because i ate something slightly over-processed (campbell's chicken & dumplings soup) after having only fruits, veggies, simple proteins & water for several days.
i'm not sure whether to adjust my calories or just keep them...??
this is NOT a habit of mine or anything like that, don't worry. it happened totally out of nowhere.
what should i do? & how can i prevent this from happening again, apart from just staying far far away from processed foods?
i feel so crummy, i feel like my body is angry at me
ugh u_u♭

just leave your log be one day isnt going to hurt if your log is off calorie wise0

This is tabu (which I think is ridiculous). Little are absorbed at all if the food hasn't yet reached your lower intestine.
I really, really hope this doesn't turn into another site like, well....the *other* site(s).0 -

what do you mean?0 -
There are sites out there where the members won't answer questions like this for fear that some fragile, ED prone "victim" will see it and their entire bulimic "career" will be the fault of the person answering the OP's question.
Personally, I'd like to think that, as an adult, I can ask or answer an honest question on a site such as this, regarding topics/questions that DO belong on a site where you're counting your calories and logging your exercise. Otherwise, what's the point, right?
I think the OP asked a valid question and I would hope that my answer (or anyone who actually ANSWERED her) wouldn't be deleted by a moderator because they're afraid that someone with a sensitive mental state might read it and it would "trigger" something. Does that make sense?1 -
OMG, the same thing happened to me the other day. We went out to lunch at a place we'd never been before. I've gotten so used to cooking my own foods, and doing really organic-natural food for the last few months -- that the food yesterday TOTALLY disagreed with me! I'm sorry this happened to you. I would give your tummy time to recover, and only eat if you feel able to.0

I would eat something lite -if your tummy can handle it. I bet you are hungry so go for what you are comfortable with. Maybe some fresh homemade soup. Something that your stomach can easily digest.
Some Campbells soups are absolutely gross. I opened a can once, thought about eating it, but I could not get past how awful it looked. I threw it away and chose to listen to my stomach growl until I could get my hands on some fresher food.0 -
I'd leave your log as it is and accept that it's an "off" day.
One day of being over or under isn't going to derail your weight loss journey, that's just life, sometimes things happen that are outside our control.
(To imnotyourpal - in my experience, honest questions and rational answers aren't moderated on this site).0 -
The body's response to toxins is elimination, it was just doing it's job. Go back to what you were eating and you will always feel great and lose weight!0

thx so much for all the advice!!
i was kind of nervous to post it in the first place, considering the sensitive topic...
but now i'm glad i did!
i promise you, it's not an awful hobby of mine. we all know throwing up is no tea party.
i think i'll leave my log as it is & let my tummy rest.
thx everyone! .n_n ♥0 -
That's really nice to know, Rubybelle.
Glad it's different here.

I agree with the others and I would just take today for what it is and see how you feel. If your body is trying to tell you something, definitely listen. And hell, it may tell you to eat something later, too...or not..0

I would just take it easy today like the other posters above have said.
I was once told that if you purge you can only get rid of 30% of calories no matter how much you get up. However I dont know if the same is true if your body is forcing you to get rid of the food like the OP is saying.
Feel better soon0 -
oops double post0

Oh my god! This happened to me today! I have been eating really well but was craving cheese fries today for some reason. It took about an hour and a half before my body politely refused my offering into a plastic bag in my car.
I was also wondering how to log it. Guess I'll leave it and give myself a little leeway tonight if I feel like eating again?0 -
I don't mean to laugh, but I had a similar issue recently. I had a burger & fries a few weeks ago, after not having that type of food for several months. That night, I had...umm, what's a nice way to say this?...a bad case of the trots. I felt awful. My husband joked, "That's what you get for eating so healthy." LOL!!
I wouldn't worry about your calories today, just eat whatever makes your stomach feel better!0 -
Omg this happened to me yesterday too.
You don't absorb any calories until food hits the small intestine.
However, you probably didn't vomit out everything you ate.
Sooo I wouldn't change your log.0
