Low Salt

I have Minnears disease and I am suppose to be on a low sodium diet. I want to know how to set plan for not over 2,000 mg. PER DAY.

    Do you mean how to set MFP to show sodium in your diary? If so, go to http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings and choose sodium from one of the drop-down lists.

    If you mean how to lower your intake generally, I'd suggest eating less pre-packaged meals (and by that I don't necessarily mean less pre-packaged foodstuffs, just complete meals) and less eating out. . When you know what's in the food it's easier to make appropriate choices. I don't track sodium anymore because unless I'm eating bacon I rarely went over 1000 mg in a day, so I track sat fats instead now.

    The days I eat a lot of sodium are when I eat out for at least one meal or eat prepared food rather than homemade--frozen, sauces, flour tortilla, crackers, etc.

    Go to your home page and select GOALS. Then edit the nutrient section. Make sure to save the changes.
