Hello people! I am very new to forum so apologies if you find this hard to read.

OK, so I have started the road to gradually get fit and reach my goal. I have some questions that I would massively appreciate if anyone has answers for. I'll give you an idea of how I might reach this goal so the questions can be answered more specific.

I would like to have a daily exercise regime consisting of around 5 non-weight exercises that I can follow increasing the time and amount as I get better. With that comes my first question; I would like to know as many non-weight exercises so I can swap and change so the days differ. (Things like burpess, pushups, squats ect)

I will also be adding in cardio 1/2 a week which I want to involve high intensive, intervals, and normal cardio. It's bit of a preference question but I want to ask is their someone who has a balance of them and what that might be?

My third question is about using free weights or weight use in general. I have heard/read a few bits about different types of lifting for example I could lift low weights and do lots of reps or lift high weights with low reps. Also the way you lift weights can differ depending what you want from it for example strength, power. I would like to know if anyone has a good regime to train all and how they might go about training all areas to a monthly bases? (I know thats quite vague but I hope it makes sense)

Again I'd like to say this is a progressive goal so information is what I am after. I'm also looking to lose weight/improve fitness over time to keep my body from to much trauma.

Thanks for any responses.

The first one seems like calisthenics and bodyweight work several programs including convict conditioning and you are your own gym. There is also a nice beginner routine on nerd fitness.

The second is a matter of preference and finding what you like and the equipment for it. Walking and walk jogging to a couch to 5k or 10k program are also good starting points.

The third is again what you want and your goals, as each has a different purpose and does different things. For example, I'm currently working stronglifts to get a good strength base going for my mma training then will switch to a different strength routine for it if this starts interfering.

Do you have specific fitness goals?

You can use weight lifting as a part of a fat loss plan. I discuss that here: http://40plusfitness.libsyn.com/weight-training-for-fat-loss-ep009.

@lauranorr names was what I was looking for especially the free stuff, especially regarding my situation. I had heard of insanity before but not fitnessblender looks really good start. I'm going for the same approach of self driven fitness, thanks

@shabaity it's good hear your response I can relate to what you're saying. It's actually really helpful finding out that it's called calisthenics searching can be hard without the right words sometimes, thanks! I think for the weight training I'll go for what I find I'm weakest at first and try to get a balance.

@AllanMisner My specific fitness goals is to first be fit enough that I can play sports, first probably being football, since I use to play this quite a lot. Then maybe some form of combat training. Ultimately I want to have a fitness that allows me to perform well in anything I try but also achieving an aesthetic (That focus will be later). The best way I can explain is it to have a good shape body with working all my muscle body parts, tweaking what lacks. I'll give your pod cast a listen when I get home, thanks!

Really cool stuff this helps further my own knowledge and some good places to look.
