Healthy Savoury Snacks - Help!
Hi All
I don't really have a sweet tooth, but I LOVE crisps and savoury snacks - anything that tastes salty!
Does anyone have any suggestions for some healthy alternatives that are about 100 cals or less? I've tried sweet potato crisps, but I don't really get much out from what I put in the oven. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Nuts are healthy, but definitely not low calorie.
Also roasted chickpeas are a healthy salty snack.
If you want something low calorie, air popped popcorn?0 -
I've heard of roasted chickpeas, might give them a go! Yes, I do love popcorn too may have to cave and buy some!, thanks0

Here's a recipe that I just googles really quick. There's tons of variations in flavors (garlic, sesame, spicy, pizza, the list goes on and on). Good luck!0 -
Aw fab, thanks very much! Just read a review on that recipe and she advised trying to roast them dry without the oil, and season after as the oil can make them softer during cooking if left for a while after
Looking forward to trying, thanks!0 -
I'm the same way, so air-popped popcorn with hot sauce and garlic powder has been great for me. It may sound odd, but I love it! Maybe you could try it with a touch of olive oil and your favorite savory herbs instead.0

Popcorn for me too! You could also try making kale chips. They're tasty to much on, but they don's really fill me up like popcorn does.
A little bit of cheese and crackers is good too, but be careful because it's easy to over do it. They do fill you up, though! Try whole grain crackers.0 -
Blue Diamond Nut Thins, Popcorners (big fan of the spicy sweet chili, myself).0

I just recommended elsewhere the Kelloggs Special K cracker chips, found in the cracker aisle. You can have about 17 chips for 80 calories. They are sort of like Pringles in that they are a "pressed" chip/cracker, not a real potato chip like Lays. I like the salt and vinegar ones the best, and even just 17 crackers can satisfy my salty and crunchy urges. (I don not work for the company!) And if you absolutely go berserk and eat the whole box, its a lot less damaging to your self esteem and diet that emptying a whole bag of potato chips!!0

Nori or seaweed snacks. You may have to go to an international grocery, Asian grocery or health food store to find them. I like them alot. They are toasted seaweed, crispy and savory.0

I use the mini won ton wrappers. cook at 350 for about 7 min (but watch them.. They burn really fast). I spray both side with PAM spray and then sprinkle with any seasonings. I have done cinnamon sugar, plain, a little salt, garlic......0

Sardines are my favorite! More than 100 calories but high on protein, good fat and omega 3s0

Just bought a dehydrator recently, and love it. Kale chips are a favorite of mine. They turn out really crispy and can be as salty as you like them.0

Brilliant suggestions, thank you!0

A great hack is poppadoms, the kind sold in the supermarket that you are supposed to deep fry at home. Just pop them plain in the microwave, and the puff and crisp up. About 30 cals per poppadom. Depends on the microwave how long they need to go for. At home I microwave for 2 minutes, but the microwave in the office does them in 30 seconds. Don't let them burn.
You can also make oil free potato chips in the microwave. Slice a potato thinly using a food processor or mandolin. Lay out in a single layer on some silicon mesh or silicon coated baking paper. Add salt and a sprinkle of vinegar if desired. I zap for about 6 minutes on high in my domestic microwave. They should be starting to brown. If not yet brown zap in 1 minute increments. Be careful here with burning too. As they cool, the potatoes continue to crisp up.0 -

I do this too! Glad I'm not the only one. I like chipotle sauce on it, or taco seasoning. The sauce makes it a little wet, but it doesn't bother me. If you add nutritional yeast to it it's like cheesy/spicy doritos.0 -
Roasted chickpeas are the bee's knees! !0

I LOVE Blue Diamond Nut Thins! I usually pair them with hummus for a tasty, filling snack.
