I am a 67 year old male. Two yrs ago I was put on insulin for diabetes. That was the turning point in my life. I was recovering from a fall in which I broke a leg in three places, diabetic, high blood pressure, and had suffered one heart attach. I started the weight loss journey on my own and lost 35 pounds and then stalled. So I joined Weight Watchers. Best thing that I ever did! I have now lost a total of 100 pounds, going from 314 to 212. I am 6'3" and am now off of most meds. My problem, I have an upper body that still seems pudgy and would like to shape up. I now have a 34 inch waist so that is not a huge problem but I would really like to redistribute the weight that I have. I do belong to a gym but have no clue as to where to start. Cardio at this point is not a problem.

Strength training will be beneficial in a number of ways especially as a male (we start losing lean muscle mass at a rate of 1% per year starting around age 40).
Given your previous health problems I would strongly suggest getting medically cleared first and then work with a qualified trainer who can design a program for you. (Lifting heavy weights can spike blood pressure so you would, most likely, be looking at a program of lower weight / higher reps which can still be extremely beneficial)0 -

Some of the hospitals in my area have fitness facilities that work with people that have special medical situations. If that is available, may want to start working with someone at a place like that as opposed to a commercial gym.
