Plates can be deadly!

I just wanted to share a little humor with everyone. We are in the process of laying a wood floor and I have a 10 week old puppy that is more like the Tazmanian Devil, all Teeth. So I rigged up my Kettlebell on his rug to keep him from chewing everything in sight but still free enough to watch us. The little monster was able to pull it around. So, I added a 25 pound plate beneath it.

This was working for a while until he must have eaten a can of spinach and became as strong as the Hulk. Needing to keep him in one place I went and got my 35lb plate and was in the process of switching them out I don't even know what happened I was handing the 25lb plate off to my husband and balancing the 35 on end. Next thing I know BAM searing hot worse then labor pains explode in my big toe! You guessed it the 35lb plate fell right onto my toe!

I don't think it's broke but I should have put a needle in my toenail to drain the blood and relieve the throbbing! Haven't slept yet!

That's one strong pup! Thankfully I've never dropped a plate on my foot, but I have smashed my fingers while reracking with enthusiasm  hope your toe heals quickly!

Ow! I remember dropping the 25lbs bumper on my foot (and I had shoes on) and walking funny for a few days.

If you had blood pooled you might end up losing your nail down the line. :/ If you still have some, relieve the pressure! It's never fun to walk with a swollen toe! (I've been there, also... sigh)

I broke little toe going to kick my Dad and got metal table leg instead. Try heating up the end of a metal paperclip with a lighter til its hot and press it into nail to release blood. It will hurt, take a couple of pain killers first if you haven't already. Make sure you have a cloth to soak up blood. It's not pleasant but makes the world of difference. I had it done twice for fingernails. Good luck.

any time i've used a lighter soot has built up on what i was heating. maybe a non-combustion heat source would be a safer option.

and i suggest peroxide too for the aftermath. it's kind of fun the way that stuff bubbles.

also, your dog has the most goofy-cute ears i've ever seen on a beast. i love how that rug in the rightside background perfectly matches him too.

    OMG he's soo cute!
I have two puppies who are 7 months now. But you can't turn your back on them for 30s.

They cry, but I don't let them in the room with me when I lift. I'm afraid of hurting them.

Your puppies are so cute too! I agree it would be dangerous for mine to be in the room with me when I lift. Are they getting out of the chew everything stage yet?

The icing and elevation overnight kept the blood down and I don't need to take a needle to the nail like first thought! Yeah! I don't think it is broken. It feels OK to walk on now.

    Nope! LOL

We get them lots of chew toys/treats, but now we have some organic 'bitter apple' spray that the doggie trainer recommended. We spray the legs of furniture, crown molding, electrical outlets, etc.
That actually has helped the most.

    Your puppy's ears, though...

I'm not sure I've ever seen a cuter ear position.

You gals' doggies are so cute, btw!

So, I guess in an effort to (unconsciously) sympathize, I dropped the bar on my foot while switching plates for deadlift this AM. Hurt like a b**** but I walked it off then almost forgot about it...
Until I dropped my bottle of lotion on the big toe after my shower. Now it won't stop throbbing -_-'

(MFP needs to stop stretching everything when images are so big. Shouldn't it resize automatically?! Or is that just my problem?)

Wow! That bar is heavier than the plate I dropped. I hope it feels better soon. I don't know about the pictures I just dropped them in. I know people can resize them but I have no idea.

Thankfully it was only one end of it and from just a few inches off the ground, so not so bad. Couldn't see a bruise but i can definitely feel it. That's hwta happens when you don't pay attention to what you're doing xD
