Seekin friends in midlife wanting to motivate, challenge and support each other.
Each stage of life has unique challenges. In midlife some of us may be facing slowing metabolism, health concerns, time restraints, and more. We can help each other overcome some of these issues to get to a healthier lifestyle.

Lost about 5 lbs. needing do more exercise. Fibromyalgia is slowing me down. Anyone with tips to reduce the pain.

There are good drugs for fibromyalgia. I have seen theories about inflammatory foods (sugar, refined grains, even artificial sweeteners). You could try it.2

I'm turning 41 in two weeks and also suffer from health related pain and other symptoms (MS). On top of my daily medication, I find that nutrition and exercise help me manage both pain and fatigue. Feel free to message me and/or friend request if you want to talk. I'm happy to talk and support.0

Hey bjpjsmith. I didn't have much luck with water for weight lis but it did help strength. Sometimes our portion controls are off. This can cause us to have too many or not enough calories which can cause some very poor results in weight loss. When I first started counting calories I was pretty generous in what I was calling a portion and didn't lose much weight.0

Hey guys! Can I join your message board? I am 60 years old and struggled with weight my whole life; in my younger years I controlled my weight with a LOT of exercise. Today my age and health issues prevent much exercise other than walking. At one point I was unable to walk at all for several years and my weight went way up. Now I am looking for a way to lose weight...I am not crazy about going to group meetings so I thought I would give this a try. I have lost some 25 lbs on my own, but I think I need some help with motiviation and some place to vent. I feel alone out here.

I'm 41...I started all this good livin' awhile back in my late 30s and have been maintaining a 40 Lb weight loss for going on three years this spring. We aren't getting any younger, but I can tell you at 41 I feel better and younger than I did at 31.
I made a lot of life changes and they have come gradually...baby steps to wellness. One mistake people make is trying to do a 180 and change their entire lives overnight...doing that is overwhelming...it's all about baby steps.
When I first started out I had metabolic syndrome comprised of 4 of the 5 risk factors...abdominal obesity (borderline), low HDL, hypertension, and high triglycerides...the only one I didn't have was high blood glucose (miraculously).
I made small changes to my diet...daily and weekly...small goals like, "I'm going to eat two servings of fruit today and 6 servings of vegetables....stuff like that. Exercise wise I started out doing nothing more than walking...at first it was just a few days per week...then five...eventually I started jogging a little and doing some weight lifting.
Fast forward 3.5 years or so and I'm around 12% BF, normal HDL levels, normal triglycerides, and while I still take meds for hypertension, I'm around 118/75 vs 138/89 controlled by meds before. I've gone from taking walks around the block to riding around 80-100 miles per week (less in winter) and lifting 3x per week.
I'm not really accepting any friend requests, and honestly you're not missing anything as I rarely comment or even look at my feed...just wanted to say that getting healthy and fit is awesome and totally worth the effort...I'm a completely different person now than I was a mere 3.5 years ago...it can be done, and it is awesome.6
