I'm 5'6.5", currently 148lbs. GW was 140lbs, but as I've got closer (started c200lbs - not sure exactly as didn't own scale at the time) I feel like there might be a bit more to go, so thinking of revising down to 135lbs. Be nice to have friends at similar weight/height & with simillar goals, if anyone wants to add me!

The ideal weight range for a 5'6" woman is between 118-136lb.
    http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/logout/news_features/idealweight_w.htm

I used to be 128lb before I got fat and that's pretty much what I'm trying to get back to. That's smack in the middle of the ideal range.

However, people have their own thoughts of what suits them best, and maybe once you start losing weight you'll also get a feel for where you look your best weight wise.

The charts also differ slightly. This one says 116lb to 147lb for a 5'6" female.

There is also some variation by country, as I found that UK charts usually gun for lower weight ranges than US charts.

This is a US calculator and for my stats (45yr old female at 5'6") it gave me these stats.

Based on the Robinson formula (1983), your ideal weight is 130.5 lbs
Based on the Miller formula (1983), your ideal weight is 135.1 lbs
Based on the Devine formula (1974), your ideal weight is 130.7 lbs
Based on the Hamwi formula (1964), your ideal weight is 129.4 lbs
Based on the healthy BMI recommendation, your recommended weight is 114.6 lbs - 154.9 lbs

So it's a bit of a case of "take your pick".
  • I'm 5'7" and my goal was health rather than weight. It's very individual and the ideal weight range really is just an ideal.

I'm maintaining in the low 170s after losing 155lbs. At this weight I'm around 25% Body Fat with 28" waist and 38.5" hips. I have a fair amount of loose skin, particularly on my stomach (my very top weight was actually 350 lbs at full term pregnant with twins, I don't think my stomach will ever recover).

I was always aiming for a goal weight of 159 to be inside the recommended range BUT now I'm down this end of the scale - I'm currently quite fit with a RHR at 45 bpm as well as low BP. I can't imagine being too much smaller than I am right now but I'd like to get BF down closer to 20% and I don't really care what happens weight wise so long as I at least maintain current weight.

I'm 5'7" and my ideal weight is 150. I've never been that small, my lowest was 163 and I thought I looked pretty good. I'd be happy just getting close to 163 actually!!!

I am 5' 7" and weigh 151lbs. My pre-baby weight was 137lbs so that is my goal.
P.S. That "baby" is now 6!

5' 6.5" - goal weight is 135, however, as I am 60, and my face is not looking good at 158 from this weight loss, I may stop sooner. I started trying to lose at 230, with my highest recorded weight at 238.

5'7", 162 lbs, medium frame, pear shape. 31" waist, 43&1\2" hips.
Body fat percentage last year was 35. Lost weight to 160 and body fat percentage went down 34.8. Then with some more work and a caloric intake of 2,000+ daily, I gained 2 pounds and body fat percentage dropped to 26.6.
That's what I call feeding the beast. So weight isn't something I look at, but preferred goal would be 159 lbs and 24 body fat.

I'm 5'6" and my goal is 140. About 10 years ago (when I was in my 20s), I weighed 145 and, while on the thin side, I was far from skinny. So, that's what I'm aiming for this time around as well.

I'm 5'7.5 and aiming for 150 currently. When I reach my goal I'll decide if I want to lose any further. I've been looking at calculators and am guessing that I will be happier closer to 140. I'm not sure what a comfortable maintenance range will look like, so any suggestions on that are welcome!

I am setting my goal for 150, so I can settle
at 155-160. My goal will be to continue to
walk 3x week, an hour each exercise. Once I continue at goal for month or two, I will decide
if I want to go lower in weight.

5'6" and currently 142. My goal weight is between 130-135. That's the "everything fits and I feel really good" weight for me.
