Ok. So I've decided to try My fitness because I have tried many other things it nothing has worked. I have been out of control lately and need to re-establish discipline. I would really like to loose 5 lbs. a week but this program will only allow me to loose 4 lbs in 5 weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Are you wanting to lose 5lbs?
Or lose 5lbs per week?

This program is encouraging life long healthy habits not crash dieting. Loosing 5 lbs in a week is an indication of something very seriously unhealthy going on.0

5 pounds a week is unhealthy - 5-8 pounds a month would be a more healthy goal. I've always heard a good rule of thumb is no more than 1% of your body weight a week.0

Here are my suggestions. Based on how much weight you'd like to lose, choose the corresponding amount to lose each week when setting up MFP:
75+ lbs. - 2 lbs./week
50-75 lbs. - 1.5 lbs./week
20-50 lbs. - 1 lb./week
Less than 20 lbs. - .5 lb./week
Do you want to keep the weight off? Then lose it sensibly. That means you have a reasonable calorie goal, you continue to eat the foods that you enjoy, you pay attention to nutrition, you add a bit of movement (exercise) to increase calories per day. Begin strength training to preserve lean muscle mass.
Don't rush. It's a recipe for disaster. (pun intended
)
