Ok. So I've decided to try My fitness because I have tried many other things it nothing has worked. I have been out of control lately and need to re-establish discipline. I would really like to loose 5 lbs. a week but this program will only allow me to loose 4 lbs in 5 weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions?

How much weight would you like to lose?

Im not entirely sure what you're asking.
Are you wanting to lose 5lbs?
    Or lose 5lbs per week?

  • This program is encouraging life long healthy habits not crash dieting. Loosing 5 lbs in a week is an indication of something very seriously unhealthy going on.

5 pounds a week is unhealthy - 5-8 pounds a month would be a more healthy goal. I've always heard a good rule of thumb is no more than 1% of your body weight a week.

Here are my suggestions. Based on how much weight you'd like to lose, choose the corresponding amount to lose each week when setting up MFP:

    75+ lbs. - 2 lbs./week
    50-75 lbs. - 1.5 lbs./week
    20-50 lbs. - 1 lb./week
    Less than 20 lbs. - .5 lb./week

Do you want to keep the weight off? Then lose it sensibly. That means you have a reasonable calorie goal, you continue to eat the foods that you enjoy, you pay attention to nutrition, you add a bit of movement (exercise) to increase calories per day. Begin strength training to preserve lean muscle mass.

    Don't rush. It's a recipe for disaster. (pun intended :) )
