    Hi all,

Forgot to login this weekend - busy with B&B guests! did manage to get my runs in. Saturday's 5 miler was brutal! Ended up walking the last 2 miles.
Sunday's long run was cut short as it was so stinking hot here. I ran a very hilly route, so that and the heat (28C / 82F) did me in. Managed about 10 miles. Good enough.

    Welcome newbies. :)

Hubby and I went to dinner last night to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary (tomorrow). Did not over indulge as I am still navigating this gluten free thing. 5 Bacon wrapped scallops, salad and 1 glass of white wine. After that brutal run, I earned that glass of wine darnit. Despite being what I thought was "good", I did end up with some stomach issues. Not sure if it was the salad dressing, which I forgot to ask them to put it on the side. All part of the learning curve I guess.

Fight Gone Bad this morning. Went tubing on the river Saturday...a few too many beers that I paid for today, but a good time.

sdereski, gluten-free is pretty challenging, for sure....my celiac gf is two decades into it and still has to be so super careful about everything! She swears it does get easier, though.

Finally met with my PT yesterday. A good workout on a hot, muggy day a the park, using the swings and body weight to do the workouts. Pretty cool. Again, forgot to post it.

    I lifted today, again.

I re-started "STRONG" last week....just to ease back into all of it. I am nicely sore all over.

Also, I have some decent poundage to lose....these stressful events over the last months have totally taken their toll. While I don't feel like I was chowing down like some binge-er, I obviously was since it is pretty incredible how much scale-weight I have gained!

I HATE the CUT....but, I have to do it. Everyday I tell myself "I HAVE TO DO THIS."

So far, this is day 2 and it is going "okay". Not superb. I did have three squares of chocolate yesterday!!! Today I have had zero.

Anyone else notice this in both real life and social media. I posted this status this morning after reading through a bunch of Facebook posts.
Half of the people I grew up with are dead and the other half are trying to atone for their moral and physical indiscretions so they live longer and with a cleared conscious.

I see so many of these people that lived haggard, rough lives finally realizing they need to do something for their mind, body, and spirit. From a guy I know who ran an escort service going to church all the time, to a guy we called the bottomless pit who ate and drank more than any person I know posting salad pics...it seem like 40+ is the age of redemption.

Is it that 40 is about the halfway point and mortality gobsmacks our butts into submission? Or???

    Just curious.

Hope everyone is having a glorious week. I actually rested on Sun and Mon as planned, but that made me a bit lazy for today. I finally got on my gazelle machine tonight and just knocked out about 3 miles in 45 minutes. I should have done some weights / kettlebell, but meh, I was lazy. I really need to get back into strength training.

I know I am due to go paddling with a friend of mine tomorrow, so that should be a good workout since we can be out on the water for over an hour if the conditions are good. I am hoping the workout tomorrow can break me out of my mini-plateau since I'm at a milestone mark of trying to get below 140 and have been bouncing between 140.4 and 141.8 over the past week. Want to be solid in the high 130's for my record weigh in on Friday. We'll see if I can get to that mini-goal. Happy though to be in 'normal' BMI range again (anything below 141), even if just barely and at the top of the scale.

Oh yes, hello to all the newbies!! Glad you all are here and look forward to your stories.

I believe that is exactly what it is. I am so genuinely happy to see folks in their 40s doing something about their health......I wish I had. I woke up at 51 - like what in hell am I waiting for....so my glory years will be spent living instead of just watching. All the best to everyone on this journey!!!!!!!
