Gosh, I don't think I could do alternate day fasting. On non fast days, do you still track your calories? I'd be interested in hearing how you get on.1

Alternate day fasting ends with me binging a bit.... I have done it, but it's not great in the long run for my bod.0

Yeah, I'm with Mama. Anything more than 2 FD a week and I'm starting to gnaw on my kids. The key, for me, to success is consistency and I can't be consistent on ADF. I've lost close to 45 lbs on 2 FD a week. I will occasionally and most times accidentally have an extra FD, but those are usually situations where I wasn't able to eat. It's usually on days when I suddenly get called into substitute teach and I find I'm so busy, I'm not hungry. By the time I'm done at 3:30. I figure I'll just wait until dinner.0

I could do ADF if I didn't have the family and went over by 300-400 on non-fast days. I ended up doing it once when the kids and husband were gone and I was ok. I didn't end up losing as much because I totalled a smaller deficit for the week.

Yes, I count on 'off' days. My range for those days is 1500-1600.
Cool, keep us updated. I'm interested in hearing how you get along with ADF. Hope you got through Friday okay!
For food ideas, I bumped up a recipe thread in this group. I'm just eating what I would ordinarily eat for dinner and supper on a non fast day but with smaller portions to fit into the 500 cals.0 -
I started on Monday - 1st fast day was fine. 1700 cals Tues - second fast day today WAS STARVING ALL DAY LONG!!. Thank goodness I dont have to do it again til next Monday. I hope this gets easier.1

I've read that it does, going by the experiences of Michael Mosley who created the diet. He said that the first few weeks will be tough and then it gets easier as it becomes a routine. I guess we'll find out soon enough for ourselves. Hang in there! I'm fasting on Monday and Thursday so that might be better for you - to have two ordinary days in between the FDs?0

Update:
I'm down 9 pounds as of today. The program is working very well. I'm rarely hungry and I don't beat myself up for going over 500 on fasting days as long as I ate something that was good for me, fruits, veggies, protein, etc.0 -

I have found this to be true, Oolou. I've been doing this for about 1.5 years. That said, I will have a planned FD, only to realize I'm not going to make it. I usually know this by mid-morning. If I'm ravenous by then, which doesn't happen very often, I usually just go ahead and listen to my body. This typically doesn't happen for more than one day, so I'm able to have my FD the following day as long as I don't have anything planned (lunch with a friend, for example). I'm a Tuesday/Friday gal, but this past Tuesday, I had the opportunity to take my son to lunch, so my FD was yesterday. My next one is planned for Saturday. Next week, I'll just go back to my regular schedule.0
