Popping in quick from the inlaws' house. Got in a quick 6k before the children's science museum this morning putting me at 130.6km/100km. Hope everyone is enjoying their end of July runs!

@shanaber I use cheap wireless headphones from Amazon EasyAcc about £10. The sound is excellent, they hold charge great and have a microphone so you can use them for calls if required. I have only had them a few months so don't know how well they will last.

@Orphia - I use a camelbak that was designed for cycling to run. I really like it. When adjusted right, it does not bounce. Only negatives are that the straps will chafe bare skin, so you have to be careful what shirt you choose, it doesn't have a clip to hold the tube in place (solved by tucking it into the chest strap when not in use), and it had no front pockets (I added a strap\snap on water bottle holder to remedy this). It does have tons of zippered storage in the back for things you need to take but don't need access to, like your phone, keys, body glide, sunscreen, etc.

After all the good advice from everyone, I decided to give the early-morning-running another shot. Epic fail!
I set my alarm for 5am. Maybe I should have prepared the coffee the evening before, because apparently, my brain doesn't work at that ungodly hour! I put too much water in the coffee pot - which I never ever did before, until today. After staring at the mess exploded all over the stove for a minute or two, I decided it was too early to deal with this kind of *kitten* and crawled back into bed for another two hours.
The next time the alarm rang, I was a little more successful, so I was out and running the door around 8:30am. Still not too shabby for a weekend day, but this way it was already 21°C(70F) when I started, and 26°C(79F) when I finished 90 min later. For my long run tomorrow, I will have to give the early rising another shot, otherwise it will be above 30°C by the time I'm done *sigh*
I saw a lot of wildlife today - two herons, a hare, a bird of prey (too high up to tell for sure, but judging by the feather he left behind, it was probably a common buzzard), and of course the usual geckos, cows, horses and chickens. And a very fat green caterpillar crossing the path.

@Orphia I just looked for a hydration pack with some extra pockets - they all write it's best if you only put water in the bladders, so I wanted a way to store some sugary stuff too, if I can't stick to my usual juice-and-water mix. I read a lot of reviews, but in the end, I just went by price. I was actually looking at the Salomon Agile2 7, the Nathan Grit and your Camelbak Ultra - only that the Camelbak was 120€, the Nathan 88€ and and the Salomon 45€. Even with an extra 20 for the bladder, which wasn't included, that's still a huge difference.
After my long run tomorrow I should be able to say if I made the right decision. Wish me luck :)

@shanaber glad to hear the knee is improving & @greenolivetree hope the calf doesn't give you too much trouble! @_nikkiwolf_ that's an impressively sized caterpillar  As for morning bathroom breaks - I definitely have to take care of business before heading out in the morning. I like all the suggestions for dealing with it. As I (hopefully) increase mileage I'll keep that in mind  @skippygirlsmom its pretty hilarious that runner's world has an entire article devoted to it - - I'll definitely have to read that one!

Good luck on your runs & any races today everyone! It's a weight lifting day for me today.

Today's Notes: This was my first ever Long Run running on tired legs. I normally take a rest day before my long run day. However, after getting some advice on here, and my little guy wanting to run yesterday, I ran today with no rest. I felt just fine, and even managed a fast finish. Total miles for today: 10.06, total time: 1:36:31 Average pace: 9:36. The last 2 miles were 9:18 and 8:33 respectively.

I ran a 5K on the treadmill without any walk breaks! Woohoo!! I'm following the C25K plan and was "supposed" to run only 2.5 miles, but inside on the treadmill in the AC felt so much easier that I just kept going  Overdid it for my left knee, so today I'll have to make sure to ice it a lot. No regrets though. It felt really good to complete the distance. I just have to do 2.5 miles on Sunday and I'll make July's goal with 2 miles to donate

Goal: 35 + 2 for Black Toe Month
    34.59 done, 2.41 to go

Like most things I wait until the last day to get them done. I shouldn't have any problems getting to goal tomorrow since there is a scheduled 20 mile long run. I'm confident I'll get it done but you never know what can happen during that 3+ hours. Ideally I'd like to get to 302 miles, but would be not be disappointed with 18. I've never crossed over that 300 mile mark.

90 min long run this morning - did 7.45 miles. It felt really good until the last 15 minutes or so and then I was dragging a bit. But we finished and I rewarded myself with a nice hazelnut latte.

That brings me to 105 miles for the month of July!! Over my goal by 15 miles with tomorrow yet to go.

I need to catch up on reading some posts, but good running this month everyone. Hope your weekend runs and races go well!

Whew, it was a hard one today. It was over 70F and 95% humidity when I started at 7, so I took it nice and slow. If I have the energy tomorrow, I want to do my scheduled 12 as a race simulation, starting at 7 again because that's when my race starts; the first 1.5 miles is largely downhill in my route, as is my marathon, and then pretty flat because I'll just go out and back on the canal path, so I'd like to do it as close to race pace as possible. But judging by my legs today, I may just have to settle with getting through it. Thanks, Lady Time :s

PS: If anyone on Strava looks at my splits, I did not super-bonk on the run today :D A running group buddy was doing a 20 miler today, and I was hanging back with her from time to time to keep her chatting in her last 3 miles. Despite the heat and humidity, she managed to be in a good mood, and two of our other weekend runners who had gotten done at 7 when we started her final loop biked alongside with cool water. They were pretty much lifesavers.

@_nikkiwolf_ That looks like a tobacco hornworm. They are kinda cool. Huge! But are a real nuisance. They turn into a moth. Kinda cool that you have them and we do too.

After 2 days rest, I headed out this morning to see what would happen. Did an extended warmup of .75 miles with a couple running intervals to test my leg. Decided to go for it and switched Garmin to run. I ran .5 and I just had a bad feeling and decided to walk. I just couldn't justify running on this leg to hit a goal. So I ended up walking a total of 4.25 miles counting the tiny bit of running. My leg actually felt better and better during the walking.

Hubby looked again and he's certain my right leg looks different than the left and is swollen. It's just confusing because I can do some things fine. But when it comes to the one leg hop, I can barely get my right foot off the ground compared to the left. There seems to be some weakness in getting off the ground besides pain when landing. Gotta listen to my gut and rest a bit.

So I set my goal for August at 75 compared to 90 this month. But it'll depend on how long it takes to get my leg better.
