it's Friday. If I don't get my blood work results back today I might lose my mind. So if you find it wandering around this weekend, at least you've had fair warning...

@Phrick I'm not much of a TV "watcher" but always have it on. The exception would be NFL football. I'm glued to the TV all day/evening Sunday, Monday night and Thursday night during football season. My "background" stations are ESPN2, The Food Network, The Cooking Channel, DIY, HGTV and the NFL Network. Right now though it's been The Olympics nearly 24/7. I also glued-to-the-TV-watch The Voice and suffer a few weeks of withdrawal when the season ends.

Had to share a BIG NSV here today. I'm a T2D and have been on metformin and glipizide. Well I've been low carb almost a month and found my sugar going low the past couple days.
The Dr told me to go ahead and discontinue the glipizide!!!!!! I still have to take the metformin for now but that's OK. I asked her about taking the Glucophage instead and y insurance won't allow me to at this time :( But yay!!! I'm getting there!

    Congrats!

    Friday? Is it really Friday??

Morning everyone! I wake up every workday at 4 so I can have some me time. That's obviously not happening today. Been having my sister chewing at my ear since I woke up! Seriously shouldn't people know not to talk to me before I have coffee??
Rain in the forecast for this weekend. So I'm thinking mostly indoor activities are in store.
I've got to light a fire under my rear and kick up my exercise too.

I must kick up my exercise too! Glad I am not the only one that needs some fire...lol.
I believe I can finally clear some work out space this weekend.

    are there any other tv non-watchers?. . . .

Yup - me. :) Where we live, we don't have cable tv and I'm too cheap to buy a dish, so we just stream the occasional show via Internet. Mostly documentaries and classic movies. Not much into regular tv - I'd rather read.

Yep. I think he's WAY better looking than both Sam and Dean.

My internet and cable are bundled. There are shows I enjoy (Suits, Walking Dead), but the cost is more than they would be worth compared to streaming... except the cost of internet by itself is not that much cheaper than having both cable and internet. So for a few bucks, I get the shows I want and a whole lot of other stuff that I watch too (usually watching TV while working on homework on the computer, so it is just a background).

    Stick to it Saturday!!

Hello weekend! Better yet, hello long weekend! Monday is going to be busy but taking the day for necessary errands and my daughters orientation for middle school! Eek!!

I've really got to motivate myself. My exercise hasn't been cutting it. I've got to up it somehow. My problem is working it around my boy. He's the type that as long is he knows I'm there he'll be fine. As soon as I get involved with something he's on my back (literally on my back) wanting my attention. He's 4 and the size of a six year old so it's not like I can throw him in a stroller. And when I take him on walks with me hell do fine half way then starts the "I'm tired! Pick me up and carry me!"

Our cable and internet is separate, but the cable bill is ridiculous!! So we are trying to find a way to get rid of it and get the whole house streaming.
I use a Roku so I've got Netflix and Hulu I've actually had them for years now.
To get rid of cable I've been looking for something that would get the same various channels to keep my sister content. She has to be able to watch her yard sale shows and all that Kardashian "crap" (can't stand those shows).
So I've been looking to get her a new tv with a Roku for her and to get whatever streaming tv that fits the bill.
Has anyone used or heard anything about Sling TV? From what I've seen on their site it would be perfect, and it's even got a current deal hidden on site for a free Roku 2 or a Roku 3 at fifty percent off! Yay for deals!
Before I go in on investing in this I'm trying to get some real feedback and not the happy ones that are on the site.

are there any other tv non-watchers? I mean all the shows I listed above I used to watch.. but anymore if the TV is not already on, I won't ever voluntarily turn it on. If it is already on I might half-watch a show that's on but I never get sucked in. I am just no longer a big fan, to my husband's dismay.

I'm the same way. I own the office series, and the sopranos, scrubs and some it's always sunny. I don't ever..I mean EVER turn on the TV. I'm a reader. There are books in stacks everywhere. Right now I'm reading the Sackett series, L'Amour. For the third time. I own all the Stephen King books, Anne Rice, Maeve Binchy, Amy Tan, Steinbeck, Nietzsche, Proust, Kafka etc. It's an eclectic mix. I love books..the way they feel, the way they smell.....I believe they take on energy, much like an old house.

@ProCoffeenator Not sure how hold your son is, but if he's young enough make HIM your workout. Lift and toss, stretch with him instead of weights, run around park.... (I give advice like I'm running half marathons....sigh....)

I am in this same boat. Want to get rid of Dish Network and use those types of services but my kids already complain we don't have the channels they want.

OMG!! When I was teenager we always listened to dramatized Louis L'Amour books on tape on all our youth group road trips! They were awesome!!!

These pics are sooooo funny to me, and at the same time...thought provoking and strangely motivational to me. I posted them on another group I'm on for motivation.

I have a question... What food/meal so you really miss now that doesn't have a low carb substitution? Mine is these vegetarian quesadillas I used to make with mashed yam, spicy refried beans, and cheese in gluten free tortillas, topped with sour cream, avocado and hot sauce...

Potatoes and sweet potatoes really. That's about all.
