Back on the wagon

Back in Jan 2010 I got on my scale after the new year and felt sick 240lbs (5'10). Due to a forgiving work uniform I didn't realize how much I have moved from a 36" waist. A few days later I was shopping for some suits for our upcoming cruise and sure enough they were coming in at 40-42 inch waist. I decided to lose wait so I joined here, started a diet and by the time of the August cruise I was down to 170. 70lbs lost, leaner, stronger and cardio for days.

Fast forward through 6 yrs of back to old bad habits and I had the feeling I was back up again. My last round of summer clothes shopping had me back at 38" shorts. I ran to my car last week in the rain and had to catch my breath. I'm having heart burn and chronic back pain again. Well this morning I put fresh batteries in the scale and that sick feeling came back 230lbs.

So I guess today starts my "new diet". One thing that helped me out last time was my wife was on board. She lost 40lbs with me. This time we have a crazy work schedule and 2 very active kids which keep us on the move and "healthy" eating hard. Also for the last round I had support the guys I work with (FD) that motivated me to work out and keep with the healthy meals. Now I'm at a slow station with out that support group so not much help there either. And the last thing I have going against me is the dreaded 40 sneaking up on me this month.. Stupid metabolism.

Well there's my sad story. My plan is to get back to the 180-190 range. While 170 and a 28" waist was great I looked sick to people that new fat me. 180-185 looked good and felt like a perfect balance. First "step" no sugar in my morning coffee.. Little things right.

I feel you. I hit 43 and it's no joke. That pizza stays right there around your middle hahaha! Good luck on your journey!
