How often do you gain back your pounds?

how many of you guys are recording your weight daily? Or weekly!? Or bi-weekly? I try to record my weight on Monday morning and Friday morning/afternoon. Why? It's simple I sm ually very good during week so on Friday I am always happy with my results. But then the weekend comes. And I spend that time with my boyfriend. That's pretty much means I am not on diet.
How many of you record the pounds you put back on over the weekend/holiday/sickness? I know some do and some don't. I do. My previous week was. 134.5 on Friday and then Monday it's 136. I think I also have another problem over the weekend I rarely go to the bathroom. And no, I do not need more fiber. I eat around 20 g a day. I never did and for me to go once every 2-3 days is normal.
Also about the exercise. I see people logging enormous numbers of burned calories? Do you think it's real. That they really burn that much?! I alway lower my burned calories. I know when I had good workout. And do not have to eat extra pie to even out my calorie balance.
Please let me know what you think!!!

Personally I record my weight once a week. Usually on the weekends in hopes of inspiring me to be good. When I workout I do record my calories earned as what is calculated, but I rarely eat all of them back. I think the calories burned are pretty accurate, especially when I use the eliptical machine because I can put in my weight and age and it calculates the calories I burn and it is pretty close to what MFP calculates.
Hope that helps.0 -
I always record my weight, even if I gain....I like using the "reports" feature on this site to track how well I have done over a certain period of time. This site is awesome, cuz I can look back and see the progress I have made in a years' span0

I wouldn't change them on a weekly basis, as that's most likely water, not actual pounds. I only bump the number when i'm sure i've gained a solid chunk of weight, which is usually mid-winter when I seem to add on about 5 pounds for my "winter coat".
You'll make yourself crazy changing your stats that often.0 -
I weigh in once a month and try not to step on the scale any other time during that month. So many things can make weight vary. Such as water retention, period, stress etc... So really just once a week is prob. more then enough.
As far as the exercise thing, I dont subtract it from my cals ,actually I dont count cals, but I dont want to get in the mind set that because I exercise I should eat more. If Im hungry I will have a healthy snack, but if im not, then I wont. This is just my opinion
Hope it helps :flowerforyou: Good Luck!0 -
I don't record my weight unless it drops or I have gained back the weight over a 4 week time period and it is staying steady and not dropping. Also I don't think of this like a diet, but as a lifestyle change...but we all have our times when we go over, and that's ok, we are human. I drink a lot of water because most of what I gain is just water weight so the water helps flush it all out of my system. To know for sure how many cals you have burned you will need a heart rate monitor. I do not have one, I just go off of what MFP says. What I have found out, though, is that usually MFP is under on cals burned for most people...so if the people putting high numbers of cals burned might just have a heart rate monitor and then that is the only way it is totally correct so they probably did burn that high of a number. I hope that helps

I only weigh once a month but there have been times I've gained (like when my Dad passed and I was eating crappy on the fly while dealing with arrangements and all ...) and I will enter gains the same as losses just to keep my info accurate. What good does it do not to? ~ IMO (Plus then you have the fun of entering the losses you start to have again  )0

lol awesome, love the "winter coat!" But that's true you are likely not gaining any weight over the weekend. The "bad" foods you are consuming are probably just causing you to retain fluid or since you don't go to the bathroom then it would show you have gained. I can weigh and show one weight and then go to the bathroom and be 1lb lighter or so. I weigh on Sunday mornings every week.0 -
Thanks guys. It really helps to see other people's views.0

I measure my weight daily, but only record it when it drops. I work out a ton, so I very often retain water, which isn't true weight gain...I can gain up to 7 lb right after an intense workout! I only bump up my weight if it stays at a higher weight for a week or two, otherwise I know it's false inflation.
I'm not sure if I count as one of those enormous number of burned calories folks or not, but I usually end up with 700-1000 per day. This is because I do weight training, practice taekwondo, run and walk a lot, plus do outdoor activities on the weekends, so I really do burn a lot of calories. I prefer to log them all individually instead of just bumping up from "sedentary" to "active" because I like to have as precise of a calorie count as possible -- that way, I can try to eat most of them back (not with pie!) so that I have enough energy for the next day's workout. Other folks who have high exercise burn calories may be taking the same approach.0 -
I record it every day. I've tried once a week, once a month, never, etc. but I find it motivates me to not eat crap knowing that I'll have to deal with the scale the next day.
Weekends are tough for me as well, but I'm trying to be better on weekends and I find it's making a world of difference not to start 5 lbs heavier again on Monday (I generally lose it quite quickly, but even then, sometimes it's still not fully off by the Friday).0 -
i just log it on here every time i lose, i usually weight in a couple times a week. if i gain, im 99% sure its just water weight unless i eat a whole bucket of KFC or something.0

MFP under on calories burned? I find that hard to believe. A lot of people like to believe that they work harder than they are.
A good hint of whether an activity is actually vigorous or not is how long you did it for. If you were huffing and puffing after performing for 10 minutes, its vigorous. If you do it for half an hour and barely break a sweat, you ain't working that hard.
Then again, there are a lot of people on MFP that do ridiculous amounts of exercise in terms of length. I personally would rather keep things short and sweet, thus improving cardio as well.0
