Lots of places have Lenten specials now. Go out and try different things and go from there.

Blackened seasoning on grouper or mahi mahi, Lemon herb seasoning on red snapper or any whitefish, cornmeal breading ( very light) on fried catfish. I could go on & on since my son-in-law is from Texas, I come home loaded up with fish & shrimp!!

Don't force yourself to eat it if you don't like it. Where's the logic in that?

That said, I thought I hated fish, too, until my husband made a sweet teriyaki salmon bowl that I flipped for. That was my gateway fish, and now I eat tilapia, cod, tuna, mahi mahi, and even raw sushi, like nigiri. Delicious.

We shop and eat the farmed salmon. Prepare it by cutting an entire onion and line the bottom of a baking dish. Place the salmon unfrozen on top of the prepared onion. Smother the top of the salmon with green peppers and another onion all cut up into small pieces. Bake at 350 for one hour. If the bottom is getting burnt/dried out you can add some chicken broth.
I'm not crazy about the taste of fish and have found this method will compliment the fishy taste.

Pick a fresh fish. Frozen almost never tastes "right" to me.

If you don't like the "fishy" taste of fish, then cod or haddock would probably be good choices to introduce yourself to fish.

If you live Near a Whole Foods, they sell marinated salmon on a cedar plank (frozen), just dethaw in the fridge while you're at work, then slap it on the grill. Great with broccoli I and black rice and lentils.

I have the best recipe for salmon. Marinate in a Tbsp of brown sugar, a bit of peanut oil and low sodium soy (I don't measure, just eyeball). Grill or broil. Top with chopped scallions and serve over brown rice. It is delicious! I don't like salmon any other way as it is too fishy.

You can try cooking fish in a foil packet in the oven, salmon is my favorite in general. These recipes are especially great because there's less clean up and little fuss to deal with while it is in the oven. Here are some examples of recipes:
