Hi, im currently 21 about to turn 22. Ive just recently been diagnosed with NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease for those who may not know) I also have a mildly enlarged spleen. Im needing advice on what I can do for exercise (safely) without rupturing my spleen & also seeking advice for recipe ideas. I need low fat and low cholesterol friendly ideas. I feel like im constantly eating the same boring food over and over daily and getting nowhere and constantly feeling as if im failing. Ive been having trouble losing weight and need to lose 80 to 100 pounds. Any help and advice is very much appreciated thank you in advance!

Get a referral to a dietician specializing in your condition.

The most helpful thing I can say is to ask a professional and not a bunch of strangers (and some of us are very strange) on the Internet. In your case this is perilously close to asking for medical advice, and you really need someone qualified for that.

God, yeah - don't listen to us - or any personal trainers or unqualified nutritionists. Get professional advice from a dietician. Your GP/Family Doctor will be able to refer you to someone.

For exercise you definitely need the advice of a MEDICAL professional - not someone from the gym. For recipes there are plenty of low fat options available - the BBC Good Food website lets you find recipes by typing in three ingredients, you can then filter by "low fat" etc.

I'm 35 and I was diagnosed with NAFLD 2 years ago. Thankfully, it was caught early enough that change in diet was all I needed to learn to manage my condition.

This is the best advice strangers on the internet can give you. A dietician will work with you and with your specific circumstances and help you find appropriate resources that are suitable for where you live (I live in Switzerland, I doubt what is available here will have much in common with what you have available where you live).

As for the exercise, again, a referral to a physiotherapist who can show you exercises you can safely do would probably be a good idea.

    Good luck!

Amen to what everyone else said! Please speak with a professional before you decide anything.
