Hey guys, super struggling to keep carbs low in rationto proteins/fats. Got any tips on foods to replace noodles and pasta? And any general tips to keep myself at a slight deficit on calories but not crave everything by the end of the week, thanks

What's your carb goal? I've played with a carb macro of 40-50%.

I just reduced pasta and increased protein and veggies. I've tried spaghetti squash and zero carb pasta and it just doesn't do it for me. I have no medical reason to be low carb, so just reduced carbs as I do find this helpful for me to maintain a calorie deficit.

I eat anything I want, but not everything at once, and not all the time.

    extra veg...more protein and fat.

    I don't low carb personally...I'm anywhere from 40-60% depending.

ETA: my wife will sometimes drop carbs or do low carb nights, etc...she literally just doubles up on veg with whatever protein we're having.

With only 135g of carbs to my day, I can rarely eat pasta but I do on occasion. Most of my carbs come from English muffins and fruits and veg and the occasional cookie. Pasta is really no one's friend on a cut. I'm not saying don't have it but for the portion size, satiety and protein content it's really not a good bang for your buck.

I don't. I lift and if I took away my carbs I would literally be spinning my wheels away from my goals of getting stronger.

What is your goal of carbs?

I view pasta simply as a carrier to the sauce, so I replace it with veggies - spiralized zucchini, roasted eggplant, or wilted spinach. Put the sauce right on top! I try to include a large leafy green salad with most of my meals - if my family is eating pulled pork sandwiches, I toss the pork onto some baby arugula and eat it like a salad. If you are craving bread, try to the Old Thyme 647 breads (6g net carbs per slice) or a Fiber One wrap. Personally, I find it easier to maintain a deficit keeping my carbs low. Meats, eggs, and leafy green veggies. My hunger levels are generally lower and my cravings for sweets is greatly diminished. If it's really a struggle for you though, maybe it's not for you. Good luck!

you probably also eat 2500 calories on a cut and you look like you have a lot more lean mass than OP.

If you really want noodles, replace pasta with shiratake noodles - they have hardly any calories. Rinse them well and boil them and then they will assume any flavor you add to them.

Replace rice with cauliflower rice. In some instances (like stir frys) you can add shredded cabbage to increase volume instead of rice.

Wrap burgers and sandwiches in lots of lettuce.

Make the carbs you do eat count for lots of nutrients and fiber. (Berries are a good example)
    Veggies, veggies, and more veggies!

For me, adequate protein, fiber, and fat help keep me satiated, but your mileage may vary.

I actually eat 3500-3900 cals on a cut.

Hence why I asked the OP goal of carbs because "low" is relative to the individual.
