Why did I give up?

Okay so from January 16th to about...mid February, I was doing so well with my diet. I cut out all soda, ate less carbs, ate more fruit and overall I lost 6lbs. I never stuck to a diet for a whole month before and I was so proud of myself. I think I went downhill when I moved back to my mums and I was busy with packing and other stress related things. But I was so sure I would pull through all of that and stay focused...but I didn't. I know I have to forgive myself but it's hard. I've been eating junk since mid Feb and I have no doubt I've probably gained all the weight back.
I'm determined to carry on...guess I just need some support. The only good thing to come out of this is that before my diet, I was drinking an entire bottle of Pepsi every single day. Like, I didn't skip an entire bottle for years and when I decided to go on a diet, I quit it. And to this day even though I still eat junk, I haven't touched the drink in about 2 or so months. So I guess I can do something right.

Mid January to mid February is proof that you can do it. Get that dirt of your shoulders and try again. You got this!

    Were you counting calories?

Next time, just aim to eat fewer calories than you burn. That means you can have some of what you call "junk" ... whatever that means ... as long as it fits within your calorie limit.

The first month I was just gonna take it easy and not count calories, but I would have. I understand the whole CICO thing and it's sounds pretty good. I think if I were to get back to my diet then I would count calories straight away

Psh right there with you! I pushed and pushed and dropped 20 pounds just to gain it all back in 5 WEEKS!
Moving is stressful and time consuming just redirect your tiem and attention to making yourself a priority. And if you have to lose that 6 pounds again, at least you did it and didn't quit. It's a journey and no journey is going to be perfect and trial free- you got this!
Maybe join a challenge- those always help me refocus!

It's about calories first and foremost. Overhauling your entire diet in one fell swoop is a recipe for failure. Baby steps! Step 1: log and count.

Honestly, it's simply a matter of personal drive and willpower. You may have given up but nothing is stopping you from starting again. It's a long journey and how we get there is probably more important than how long it takes because in the end, when it's all said and done we have to find a way to maintain our new bodies, and if we learn that along the way we'll be successful.

As far as the diet choices you made, they weren't necessary as you may have realized. No need to eat low carb, more fruit, etc. Simply set a calorie goal that's not too excessive to maintain long term and stick to it. Set your macros how you are comfortable and do your best to stay within them. Calories are what counts for weight loss. Exercise will help keep you motivated, and it'll also help you earn more calories to eat daily. Start looking at this as a new way of life rather than just a diet you do then forget about and you'll be able to keep it up. Good luck!

    CICO is logical and simple.

When you start again tomorrow morning, start weighing your food and logging your food.

Oh, but first, right now enter your stats into MFP, indicate how much you want to lose (eg. 1 lb/week), tell MFP that you're sedentary, and MFP will give you your calorie limit. Eat that much or just slightly less.

You gave up because you haven't identified your "why power". You need to identify why you're doing this. Without that you'll continue to fall off the wagon.
