So i started working out again. I was actually losing weight, meal preping and hitting the gym 5 days a week. I switch up between cardio and weights. Why cant get over this plateau? Any tips. The scale wont move anymore and i still have atleast 30 pounds more to go for my goal weight.

How long has it been since you lost weight? Is that the same time you began exercising?

    How long?

    This.

And how often are you weighing yourself? Fluctuations can mask actual fat loss.

Edit: lost my text when I posted originally.

I just started losing weight few months ago. I stopped after going through depression and overeating now im back on track and losing atleast a couple pounds a week. Sometimes more because i dont have time to eat with 3 kids, college, and studying. I obsessively weigh myself every other morning. (I know i shouldnt) but i got obsessed with the pounds coming off fast. Now I've been stuck at this plateau for almost 3 weeks. Can't get less than the 158.

Water weight from starting strength training if your are diligent about weighing and measuring and your deficit.
Relax and be patient. Hard I know. Forget the scale for awhile and take body measurements.

I was at a 3 week plateau as well. Take photos. Change your workout. Try more cardio. You could be gaining muscle.

Thanks guys. Thats what i thought maybe im just gaining muscle. I have noticed a difference in my legs but it would be nice to lose some body fat to get back to my normal weight being 5,3. Guess i will focus on cardio more and try not to step on the scale and bring my hopes down.

You might be gaining a tiny bit of muscle, but it's not going to be much. The water you're retaining should be coming off soon. If it doesn't after another week, then you'll want to look into your logging to see what you can tighten up.

I was told by a nutritionist that a plateau can last months. Best thing to do is to switch out your exercise program. Get a great variety and see if that helps. Don't just look at the scale, take measurements, look at how your clothes are fitting.

Are you using a food scale?
