    You're doing awesome, Zara. I hope you find a strength training routine you enjoy! Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat though, just takes up less space. It takes women about a month to put on a pound of muscle via strength training and diet. But, you'll gain weight in the process of building muscle and that's okay. :)

    Muscle is more dense than fat so it takes up less space for the same weight, but yes a lb of fat weighs the same as a lb of muscle.

    A little late to the "beefed up" comment, but no one will accidently look like a bodybuilder. I agree you should strength train, and it will accomplish what you are after. Many women (my wife included) are afraid to lift weights, because they don't want to bulk up. You have made great progress, keep up the hard work!
