No time to catch up, as usual! This has to be the busiest challenge on MFP!

I realized since I want to start my new warm-up routine I may not reach goal, which I already lowered from last month, but that's okay. I have never been good at warming up. I usually just walk fast for the first 1/3 mile and call that a warm up. I am getting faster at it - today was just 11 minutes.

@skippygirlsmom - I hope you are okay after that fall! Poor Skip must have been so worried. Love those pics!
    @shanaber - love the pictures!

    10/1 - 33 miles cycling; 1 mile run
    10/2 - rest day
    10/3 - 5.6 miles - birthday run!
    10/4 - strength training
    10/5 - 3.5 cut short by rain.
    10/6 - strength training
    10/7 - 44 miles cycling
    10/8 - 45 miles cycling
    10/9 - 4 miles

    Daytona Beach HM - 2/4/19

@fitoverfortymom - Interesting 5K course. You definitely can't compare results on that course to results on a more traditional 5K course. If waiting till after HM training seems like a long time, you could consider running a 5K with a flatter course during HM training instead of one of the speed workouts the training plan calls for.

I have two 10k races between now and the HM in December, so waiting isn't too much of a hassle. I really love the 10k distance, so I wouldn't want to sacrifice those for a 5k. After the HM, I'm going to decide if I want to try for 26.2, or focus on improving my times at 5k, 10k, or HM distances. A marathon doesn't sound all that appealing to me (although oddly an ultra does, go figure), but I guess you never know.

I live in CO, so it's going to be v cold here (it's v cold here and snowing at the moment after a 70 degree race yesterday).

@fitoverfortymom - you are a tougher soul than me. My running buddy luckily shares my fair weather runner nature. She had me doing at least a 5k race a month to stay on the wagon. But it took a LOT of convincing to get me to do Colder Boulder in December... and that was only 5k- (We also didn't do another race until march)

half distance in Colorado in December is very brave of you.

I'm pretty sure it just means I'm batshit crazy, but mostly I wanted a way to keep up my training after my first 10k in September, and a December HM is how it all netted out.

Well, tried to catch up on the 5 pages but was interrupted by my son stopping to visit. Will just go ahead and try to keep up from here on. I hope everyone who raced this weekend had a great race, and hope nobody got hurt!

I feel exactly the same way about marathons and ultras. Luckily the marathon I have signed up for next year is an 'ish' in terms of measurement, probably closer to 27 miles. or more. who knows?
