Not specifically low carb, I just changed how I sourced my carbs - a portion of fruit at breakfast and at least 2 portions of veg with lunch and dinner. I only eat more complex starchy carbs (like rice or pasta) if I've done a workout earlier in the day. Carbs still make up 40-50% of my daily intake0 -
26 pounds but I am not tracking right now and I think I am gaining I'm going back to tracking next week, I needed a little break.0

I've lost 29 lbs in my first 3 months. Eating pretty much everything I did before, just in smaller portions.
Although, higher calorie stuff has to be worth the calories... So no more slices of mediocre store-bought cake just because someone brought some in to work. However, amazingly awesome homemade cake that's been brought in, you can bet I'll fit that into my calorie budget!
ETA: I'm 5'5", female, starting weight was 228, currently at 199. I was aiming to lose 2 lbs a week (1670 calories), now that I am 50 lbs away from goal weight I've adjusted it to 1.5 lbs a week (1810 calories).5 -
18lb since August 15th. Not the fastest but im happy considering my birthday and a holiday are included in that!2

Starting Sept. 1st (not quite 90 days), I've lost 30lbs as of this morning. Only 86 more pounds to go <sigh>

the last 3 months.....not a single pound. Painful. BUT the first three months I lost at least a pound a week, up until the 50 pound mark....it is slowed considerably since then.1

Wow, I remember seeing this thread on my very first day here at just 7lbs down. All your replies made me feel so inspired but 3 months seemed an eternity away for me. I vowed I would join in when I could, so here I am!
In the event, that time flew by so fast that I overshot by a couple of weeks, but in my first 3 months I lost 29lb. I've lost another 3lb since then.
To anyone reading this who is wondering whether to start today? I'd highly recommend it. The time goes by no matter what you do so, why not make it count?
I've a long long road ahead & I share this only in the hope it will testify to the fact that some positive changes ARE possible in a short space of time. There are many celebrations to be had along the way & it is SO exciting!
Sure, Victoria's Secret isn't going to be ringing me up anytime soon, but when I compared these two (rather embarrassing) photos the other day, I saw a huge difference.
In both I've no makeup & I'm not dressed "presentably. I'm red faced from a long dog walk on the right & from a dance fitness workout on the left. But even I can see that on the left, I look happy & content in my own skin. Not only that, but I FEEL these things every day. On the right, (where I was so sure this was "just who I am")I look the exact opposite...definitely felt it the majority of the time too. That photo serves as a reminder of where I never want to be again. The left shows me that if I carry on, things will only get better!
If you're just starting out & you're worried you can't do this - you can...one micro step at a time if needs be!
The MFP community has been (and continues to be) so inspirational & supportive of me. So, please, if you feel like you need a fellow weight loss friend(no matter what stage you are at in your journey)feel free to add me11 -
45 pounds since July 23, the day after I got home from the heart hospital after bypass surgery. Another 25# to go!3

First 3 months (1/2017-3/2017): Lost 25 lbs
Last 3 months: Lost a total of .5 lbs lol
I'm in the home stretch (only 10 lbs to go) so it's gotten really hard to lose. I keep losing and gaining the same 5 lbs and it sure is getting old0
