I’m currently 229 lbs and I’m watching my diet (proteins and veggies and greens) and portion sizes and hitting the elliptical for 40-45 minutes 4-5 days a week. I make sure to do at least 20-30 minutes on the elliptical HIIT and the rest at steady pace or sometimes the entire time HIIT. Will I see changes in 4 months?

If you do everything right you should definitely see changes.

I lost 20 pounds in two months when I first started on MFP years ago, people definitely noticed.

Depends on build/size though. Some very large people can lose 50 pounds and it's not very noticeable.

That said, you might not notice the weight loss since you see yourself so often, so a lot of people recommend taking pictures as you go. I genuinely did not see a difference myself until I'd lost about 30 pounds, although other people (who I didn't see every day) noticed earlier than that.

Weigh your food and log it all consistently and stay within the calorie budget you're given and you will most definitely see changes.

You should! Weight and measure everything accurately, log every single thing that you eat or drink. Make sure you're in a calorie deficit. I've lost 40 pounds in four months by cutting out sugar, making healthy choices and following all the advice on here. Along with hitting the gym 5-6 days a week. Whatever plan you chose, make sure you can stick with it! I personally love how I feel when eating the way that I am, so I know that this is a sustainable way of eating for me.

It's not clear from your post - are you logging your food and counting calories? People who are overweight have been shown in studies to be very bad at judging portion sizes. Weigh everything, log it. Log your exercise and eat back a portion of your exercise calories. If you eat at a 1000 calorie / day deficit, you should see substantial losses in four months.

I recommend you switch out some of cardio for strength training. I think you'll be much happier with your body by doing that. I'm also curious what your intentions are after 4 months?

Hi everyone! I am logging everything and I have been in a calorie deficit since I’ve started. I am planning to keep this up FOREVER as I want to keep the weight off and feel and look better and be healthy again. 4 months is just a trip to Bahamas and who doesn’t want to look good in the Bahamas?!
