JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS - Round 43

@tiabirdie56 My husband used to be the saboteur but something happened and he changed. Maybe he saw how well Keto was working. He always asks where I want to eat out because he knows I will pick a place where I can get something Keto compliant. Back in the 70’s, knowing I was trying to lose, he would suggest Pizza for dinner and a stop at Baskin Robbins for dessert. Yeah, that was a great diet! I ate it and seethed! Now he has switched to a lower carb plan of his own making and is very supportive.1
-
@quiltingjaine, I had to laugh when you said "seethed" because I am certain thats what my husband would do when I didn't eat what he wanted. When we were young he would say to me, "I know you can eat a lot" No. You want me to eat a lot. But why? Maybe he thought I was holding back, trying to be cute. I wasn't. Smh. I remember him getting angry with me when I was pregnant with our first son, because I didn't want to eat like the stereotypical pregnant woman. I thought, what is wrong with this man? Lol.
I'm glad your husband has changed. Better for his health.2 -
@tiabirdie56
I do all the cooking. She's getting better, but being evil toward my during seems to be in her nature. I even make two meals, so she doesn't have to eat my food if she doesn't want to. Even though my food is better.4 -

@puddlegoober, Smh. I don't know. Does your wife enjoy eating in a healthy way? Is it that she sometimes wants to eat "junk" and you no longer join in? If so, yes, she will eventually come around, but in the meantime, you will be demonized because now the spotlight is on her sometimes unhealthy eating habits. Change is extremely difficult for some.3

Lol. It's not funny but sounds just like my husband. He knows it has no effect on me, but if I say that he shouldn't be eating so many snacks....WATCH OUT!1 -
Round 43: My second round
SW: 182.0
RGW: 179.0
UGW: 130

Day/Weight/Comment
6/07 – 181.8: Miniscule drop, but I’LL TAKE IT!!! Ate well and didn’t eat back exercise calories. Really psyched for my Round 2. Thinking I’ll do another Booster Weekend. I didn’t do all the exercise I wanted last weekend, but the thought of my personal mini challenge kept me focused on eating well.
6/08 – 181.8: Same, and it’s ok. Did no workout yesterday and ate within calories but late. Planning how to stay on point this weekend with eating and exercise. Really want the downward creep to continue each day.
6/09 – 182.8: HUH??? This hurts my feelings because I ate within calories yesterday. Fine, I didn’t formally exercise, other than 45 minutes of housework, but seriously… a whole pound up??? This is too early in my journey for this. This is when I start to waiver, I NEED to go down please..
6/10 – 181.8: Back to starting weight at the beginning of this round. Grateful for this.
6/11 – 181.0: Late weigh in. Pleasant surprise since I had a Twizzlers attack last night. And not just the ordinary Twizzlers – the ones stuffed with creamy icing. I still managed to stay within calories, but way over on sugar and carbs. Gonna drink lots and lots of water today to flush it out.

DebCountsAll wrote: »Ok. I used to struggle with this as well, allowing my weight loss goals to be derailed by other people's celebrations. My question is: Why? Why is someone else's celebration a reason to eat badly or entirely too much? Sure, I want to celebrate your achievement, but I don't have to place my own goals below your achievement. It is important that I get healthy and stay that way. Actually, maintaining a healthy lifestyle IS the most important gift for your elderly self.
Celebrate the person, and give a gift to your 85 year old self at the same time. Decide to NOT use the celebration to go off the rails. YOU are important to your future self.
@DebCountsAll, Good for you and your health for changing! I have never felt the need to eat just because food is around me. I've been to many family, friends and business celebrations through the years and have never overeaten at one of them. First of all, when I see a lot of food I lose my appetite and I don't really attend an occasion to eat anyway. Only to enjoy the people there. If its au sit down dinner, I make sure to not eat anything before I go. If its buffet, I look at all the food first and choose 2 vegetables, a meat and a dessert IF I want something sweet. Cookout, I talk to people and if asked if I'm going to eat something, I say yes, in a little while I'm not hungry yet. Maybe I'll eat, maybe not. I don't know. I love to cook and I'm a good cook, but food is not entertainment to me.4 -

R41: AW 217.83 (-1.35)
R42: AW 217.64 (-0.19)
Two goals for this round:
1. Reach 10K steps for 7/10 days--1/10
2. Drink 2L of water a day
R43: SW: 218.2
Day/Weight/Comment
6/07--219.2 I have no idea where the increase came from. Working on water today.
6/08--218.2 There it goes. Got my water in yesterday.
6/09--218.0 Going back down slowly. Working on making sure I get my water in this weekend. It's supposed to be a rainy weekend so I am planning on getting out when there is a break in the weather and get my steps in.
6/10--219.2 Chinese food water retention. Based on my past experience the water weight will stick around for 2-3 days. Got my steps in yesterday and already did Kettlebell for today. Going out to a bbq today, so it will be a good challenge for me to stay focussed on my balanced eating.
6/11--219.3 Surprised it wasn't higher. Between the soreness from Kettlebell and the small amount of water I drank yesterday, I was expecting more water weight to show up on the scale. I kept within my calories yesterday even though I went the bbq, so that was a success.

I'm popping back in to say thanks to everyone involved in discussions today - too many to name, but you know who you are! I was really frustrated this morning as I was up slightly after essentially holding steady for quite a while at a calorie level that I thought would let me let go of some fat. But reading all the back & forth here helped knock me (mostly) out of my funk. My first impulse earlier was to cut calories drastically, but thanks to you lovely people, I'm taking a more rational approach and dropping my goal by 100 calories, at least to the end of this round, maybe through the next, to see what happens. I am exercising (though not as much as I used), and I do not usually record that - I don't want to be tempted to increase calories. Anyway, I just wanted to say once again how much I love this group!13

I have been stuck for well over a month and felt like I'd never make progress again. Last week I decided to do the No Junk Food 7-day Challenge and was also involved in a Fitbit Step Challenge with some friends. Between those two things, the scales have finally started to move again!

@SheilaBoneham, I'm glad you decided not to drop your calories too low. I believe we all should really distance ourselves from that old way of thinking for weightloss. It is one thing to eat nutrient dense whole foods to satisfaction and end the day at 1200 calories or less. It's totally different having a limit of 1200 daily calories and choosing foods that don't satisfy our bodies needs. I will never set my upper limit to 1200 calories ever again. I set a lower limit of 1300. I eat nutrient dense foods and if I feel hungrier, my upper limit is 1800 calories. It's all in the food you choose to eat.5
