Struggling and need motivation...

Tired of feeling and looking the way I do. Feeling the lowest I’ve ever felt and needing the will to change. I love my family more than anything and feel they should be my motivation but it’s just not happening.

What are you struggling with? Sticking to your goal? Food choices? Getting out and exercising?

    Hi Shelly,
What do you need help with? I feel you on the family motivation part but i realized its no one responsibility to be on top of my weight but me. I would expect my boyfriend to motivate me but he isnt motivated to loose weight himself. I would motivate him to go running with me everyday but he stopped and i stopped. My motivation is to get back to looking like i used to a few years back. I put a photo from about 5 years ago as my profile picture to motivate myself. Just set a goal each week. No matter how big or small. For example, This week I will work out 4 days a week for at least 30 minutes and increase it each week.

I was depressed & grumbling when I signed up on MFP. Felt terrible physically, but was overwhelmed by the prospect of doing anything about it. I put in my stats & chose a weekly goal of 1 lb/week even though I had a lot to lose (I knew I'd never make it on very low calories). And then I just logged carefully and consistently- didn't try to completely overhaul my diet overnight. Pretty soon, I became more enthused as I began to lose a little weight, started to feel better physically, and was able to do more with my family. So it's possible to build motivation over time, but we can't rely on that because motivation is fickle and comes & goes. But hopefully by then, a person has a good, solid foundation of habit that will help carry them through.

    Just start :)

Shelly, there is nothing quite like feeling that "in the basement" level of discouragement. I am really sorry that is where you find yourself. Feel free to add me. My friends have sure helped me in this ongoing journey. Take care.
