I have the bodybugg - and I only found out about the BodyMedia FIT later! I would have gone for the BodyMedia, if I had known. It tracks your sleep quality, and for those of us who are restless sleepers, this would be a great thing.

Also, the dashboard for the FIT looks way better to use and looks like it tracks more easily than the bodybugg interface. I hate the bodybugg interface on the MyApex site. I can use it, but it's clunky and hard to navigate. It's part of the reason why I switched over to MFP - the food database is better and the people are cooler.

So I use MyApex site only to track the calories burned and read off my exercise calories, and then I enter them here.

Wore a Bodybugg for 2 years. If I knew that the food data was so limited I may not have gotten it. Good thing that I'm pretty systematic in my eating so I didn't have to keep "adding" my own foods.

There is a guy one here - newfiedan - he uses the bodymedia - he is a really helpful guy, I am sure if you send him a message he will tell you about his experience - he got it about 6 weeks ago if I remember correctly.....

Okay, the bodymedia FIT is more expensive, but it also tracks sleep, but the bodybugg comes with a 6 month subscrption, the bodymedia FIt comes with a 3 month subscrption

This is how the subscprition works. Your device has memory where it stores all your data, if it gets full(takes about a week to get full) you HAVE TO log in to the webpage to empty the memory. If you don't, you won't be able to use your device cause it won't read anymore if the memory is full. To have access to the webpage you have to pay a monthly fee about 10 dollars. This is where you "log your food." As I said the bodybugg has a 6 month subscprition to this webpage, the bodyfit is only 3 months.

The bodymedia FIt is more expensive, but it also tracks sleep. I don't see the importance of that. I had a phone app that tells you your quality of sleep. I thought "okay if i sleep crappy what can i do?" nothing really. SO what difference does it make if it tracks sleep or not?

I'd go with the bodybugg, as I said I had one before, it was good.

I had one too, the food data might be limited, but does it really matter? you'll log your calories on MFP, you can set your bodybugg caloric burn goal from the webpage.

so you HAVE to pay to use the webpage? you cant just use the device without logging into the webpage? interesting

yeah you HAVE to pay for the webpage or the device will be useless when the memory gets full. Takes about a week for the memory to get full.
  • If you do choose the body media - you can get it at costco for a little over 200 and it comes with a 12 month subscription just thought i would pass that deal along!

Good to know I would have to pay to use it after memory is full. Are there any out there that I don't have to pay for?

Jawbone is soon coming out with a device soon called Up to compete with these, may be worth waiting for, they make good products http://jawbone.com/?r=g28&gclid=CO6_6rf21KoCFY8j7AodAy5J9Q - I'm sticking with my HRM until this comes out before I decide which to get

Looks like the UP might be more similar to the FitBit rather than the BodyBugg or BodyMedia Fit. Interesting though, gotta keep an eye on 'em.
