Or something like that.
Or when your podiatrist tells you you should have three pairs of shoes in rotation... At $220 or thereabouts a pair (stupid wide feet), plus fancy socks (refer previous discussion), and that's the very basics. I've just spent a small fortune on an event I may not even run (stupid cold!).3 -

Did not know that was a thing. Tell ya what. Dh is a gypsy. He loves to travel. So, if/when others wanna go. Im available. I just have to work on some distance running, (marathon- to do Dennis right).
You think that's a thing . . . I booked my hotel at Boston this year with the Marathon Tours premium package, which got me on their mailing list. Turns out Marathon Tours markets to world-traveler marathon runners. Lots of scenic destinations, and marketing push for people who want to run all 6 Abbot World Majors or run a marathon on all 7 continents. That's, um, out of my league financially and out of my comfort zone travel-wise.
Crap. I thought running was a poor mans sport. I get rich, I'm just gonna get fat and come cheer yall on from my private jet or blimp rental. Haha!
That's what I thought too but I am pretty sure I've spent a few grand on running just since I started 15 or whatever months ago.
Split between shoes and race entry fees and a Garmin and and and...
Even before I started looking at races it felt like I was spending money left and right - shoes, long sleeve shirts, short sleeve shirts, bras, shorts, shorter shorts, longer shorts, capris, buffs, hat, sunscreen (SO MUCH SUNSCREEN), socks, shoelaces... I guess some people already have workout clothes, but not me! I started in head-to-toe cotton and had to replace everything piece by piece.

I can not deal with how expensive a lot of running gear is! I've managed to find acceptable cheaper options on Amazon mostly and thank you again for the tip on UA socks, they've been great for shorter runs, although I've had to order more recently because the low cut slipped down on one of my recent long runs and I didn't notice until I was in blister land (also, it is really hard to find women's socks that aren't super low cut - WTF?). I'm starting to think about winter running because in Minnesota winter can happen at any time after August, and I'm going to have to replace pretty much everything. Eek...
Oh thank god! Seriously I thought I was the only woman in the world who hates those no-show socks with a passion. I can just about get on with the low cut ones on shorter runs. But I'm completely paranoid about the whole slipping down into my shoe and giving me a blister thing.
And as for the spending money on running.... I'll just leave this here (I think it was @PastorVincent who posted this originally).

7.5 miles this evening on the trails. Saw mama bear and her two cubs as I was heading out of the park.10

I don't recall the category, but there was an award to some runners who lost time because they came upon some bears 'engaged in romantic activities' (or something like that... I don't remember how it was exactly phrased) and had to wait.
Bare bear love.... Such a sweet, er sweat filled nervous moment.❤️❤️❤️ 👁️👁️😲 ❤️❤️
How long they have to wait? 😆😍
It doesn't say how long, just that they lost time.1 -
The weekend weather doesn’t look so good, but today the sun was shining so a short run before lunch. Decided to run a different way to change things up, but ended up taking a road that I’ve run on before. It looked nice and shady as trees on both sides provided a nice canopy. Not sure if I’ll run tomorrow, I’ll likely take a rest day as it looks like rain all day and I have been doing well the last few days.

Mega late on this but would love to get in. I only started to run again these past few days. So I have a very low goal right now and will re-evaluate next month.

5k on the Greenline. Trying for a tempo run, but pace is a moving target since the temperature and humidity have such a powerful effect on my speed. Lately "easy" on roads has meant about 11 minute miles, and my PR pace for 5k was 8:50 or something, in much cooler weather. So I figured tempo in current weather would be less than 10 and more than 9. Went out too fast, 1st mile was 8:37, got too hot and had to walk a little, ended up at 9:40 overall including the walking, close enough. It was less humid today but the sun was very hot at noon. Kind of nice being sub 30 minutes even with a walk break. Every run is a learning experience!
Tomorrow our REI has its grand opening. Husband and I are planning on going down there at the crack of dawn to try for a free $100 gift card. There's supposed to be a big do with food and drink vendors, classes, and demos. Somehow we have to juggle this with feeding horses for my mom who is out of town - the horses also expect to be fed at the crack of dawn and are an hour's drive away.6 -
I'll join the "low cut sock hater therapy group" - I just don't get it!
Well, I was ready with all kinds of comments and responses which I'm sure were positively life changing and full of wit and wisdom - and poof - one stroke of the wrong button and they're gone.
It was a beautiful 56 degrees here this morning - talk about perfect running weather! This weekend? Predicting 100 heat index. Blech.
Now to go find my info so I can post. Grrrr.

3 slow easy miles for me today, bringing my August total to 26.2 - I ran a marathon this month! First time pushing my tiny human in the jogging stroller and it went okay - only had to stop to retrieve shoes and his water cup and the plastic fork and knife he refuses to go anywhere without....
My husband ran with us - he’s at the beginning of C25k but he runs faster than me. I might’ve gotten angry about that. (Angry outbursts is one of the ways my anxiety manifests.)
We’re all good now, but we’ll have to figure out how to make running a family event.

Hate those low cut sock too!
I've gone to the quarter socks. I was lucky enough to go through a spell the low cut ones worked. For some reason now they dont. Except i picked up some cheap Fila athletic socks at tj maxx a few years back. If i can find them again, I'll grab more. Fine sock for the price.1 -
That is why I get my socks in crew! My son like the low cut socks, but he is not a runner, so I guess he can get away with it.2
