No gym workout. Off work today. Almost done painting the deck. Kirby is going to sprinkle some sand mixed in on the walkway part so it’s not so slippery during the winter. Then continue loading Bette with the gear, etc

OOOhhh I had to flip the script today. Feeling very angry and upset about work (made worse by the severe heat and humidity) felt like crying and giving up quite a lot today. I calmed myself down by doing something Kelly has talked about. Just flip whatever is frustrating and look for the positive from within. It worked, though I still feel shaky about the year of work ahead of me. I could blame new school year nerves, but I also think it might be that little voice that wants to retire early because my place of work is getting more and more frustrating! Venting session over, now on to the gym! I noticed that I had no urge to overeat or head to junk food/drive thru--could it be that bad habit is broken?

Hey all! Just turned 50 this past June! Not sure how I feel about it yet:) What I want to know is how do you ladies keep yourself looking great?
I have lost 25 lbs since March, another 10 to go. The only thing I notice now though is it seems that wrinkles on my forehead have become more pronounced:(

Tracey, Lying down all day is not something that comes naturally or easily. I am so scared about the prospect of not being able to walk and dance that I'm willing to do anything to recover. I have an arsenal of things to entertain me and strong motivation. I knit, read, listen to audio books and podcasts.
kds, I don't know if I look good or not, but my attitude about life continues to improve as I age and build good habits.
Gee, we all remember how if felt to start on this journey. I am so grateful to the women on this thread who have encouraged me along the way.
Wendy, I learned to knit when I was a child and learned a lot more from friends when I went to college. It has been fun for me. I admire people who can spin but it looked too confusing for me. If we lived close to each other we could work together.
Time to lie down again. Been at the computer too long.

Louis came through his colonoscopy with flying colors, just a little diverticulum and some scar tissue from hemorrhoids. Now sleeping in his chair. He 'thought' he'd get to go back to work; ah man, are you crazy? NO!
Everything else is just 'hanging' … Louis and my boys say that I don't need to be driving anymore; so I guess I will clean out my studio and start painting and drawing again.

Hi ladies. Finally made it this far today! I read all the posts, but it's 8 and I haven't eaten yet. I put in about 7 hours in the yard Monday, and another today, plus a friend put in 2 1/2. As you might imagine, the yard looks like a jungle/forest something. It's frightening. I'm surprised no one has called the weed police on me! It's cool here, the high was 75, but the humidity is in the high 90s. Yesterday it was 98% and the weather guy said it "might" rain. Good grief.
I love seeing all the pictures!
OK off to find something to eat. I must admit my eating has been bad (no I don't have junk food) but I don't make meals. I did make three last week and 2 went to waste because I didn't freeze them soon enough. I'll learn I guess. You'd think I'd lose a batch of weight this way! I did manage a 10 minute walk at work.
Well I'm off. I'll try to get here earlier tomorrow. Take care Meg from swampy Omaha7 -
These are the hats I knit for Project Linus. They were all knit while I was lying down listening to audio books. I'll take them today along with a multi-colored blanket that I knit.
Charming little hats! I love them. I don't know how to knit.

Heather. Pretty doggies. I hope you aren't getting sick.

Long update ahead, feel free to skip:
My son did not work from home yesterday or today, so we had 2 productive days of home school. We are getting the hang of this. My 12-year-old grandson is getting all of his work done, and has even worked ahead in Civics class. My daughter-in-law told my son it simply won't work for him and my grandson to butt heads while school is in session. Therefore, we are going to have school at Grammy's house on the days Dad works from home. My daughter-in-law didn't give my son a choice. She just told him how it was going to be. She's my hero. I really think my son needs professional help. He is compelled to lecture my grandson incessantly, and my grandson is such an easy target. It infuriates me. My ex-husband, my partner, my daughter-in-law, and I are all in agreement about how inappropriate and harmful my son's lecturing behavior is to my grandson. We may have to stage an intervention.
Yesterday, my grandson read a Kenyan folktale and then looked at his list of vocabulary words. I asked him if there were any he wasn't familiar with. Yes, he said, he wasn't familiar with the word despondent. He was supposed to pick 5-6 vocabulary words and look up antonyms, synonyms, and cognates to enhance his understanding of the words. I looked at the list of words he picked: despondent, sorrow, captivity, sacrifice, solitude, and deceased. He had picked all the sad, negative words on the list. I said, "Well, that's quite a list. Why don't you start with the word you don't know (despondent)?" So far he hadn't cracked a smile. So he looked up despondent...and we laughed until the tears ran...

Forgot to post goals!
1. Log EVERY day - Water, food and exercise.
2. Get in at least 600 steps every day, even if I have to wander around the house to do it.
3. Get at least 64 oz a day in liquids.
4. Lose 4 lbs.
I’m having real trouble recalling which name goes with which situation! To the gal who is noticing more facial wrinkles as she loses: How is your hydration going? That can cause wrinkling.6 -
Karen sounds like you got 2 great days under his/your belt. Your relationship with your gs is a lifesaver, figuratively and literally, good luck.
Happy Friday, looking forward to 4 day stretch ahead to relax, putter and sleep. If this horrible weather lets up, we've got outdoor chores to accomplish, weeds, lawn mowing, gutter cleaning and painting handrails--there is still plenty of fall weather ahead if we can't get to the whole thing, it will be okay.
Meal prep and planning goin' well. I'll also have to make yogurt this weekend in the instantpot-yum!

Machka - Those look like great bikes. Are they collapsible?
Amazing to see your husband doing so well.
Feeling a bit better this morning. Half dead yesterday. I wonder if I inadvertently took two blood pressure tabs yesterday. They are Amlodipine, which are calcium uptake inhibitors, so I'm not sure what effect that would have had. Plus a terrible night before. I slept last night with the help of an antihistamine.
Having a bit of a nostalgic trip this week. We usually listen to BBC Radio 4 in the mornings while we exercise, but this week a prominent religious leader was talking about morality and his pompous tone so annoyed me that I switched over to Classic FM, which has '300 Best Tunes' at that time of the morning - popular classics. Almost every one was a piece we used to listen to for school assembly on Fridays. Every Friday a different class would conduct the assembly and then choose a popular classic for us to listen to before we all filed out. We sat cross legged on the floor in our pleated skirts. Hearing those pieces of music took me right back to those days in the school hall, hearing the music echoing from the old gramophone.
Of course we all giggled when it was 'Air on a G String'.
Karen - Forgive me, I can't remember what you are doing regarding work while you are supervising your grandson. Have you taken time off?

Good morning all! Happy Friday!
NY Karen- So sorry troubles at work have you stressed; but very glad you remembered to flip it! Sending you thoughts for a lighter heart!
Karen VA- Oh your sweet grandson! Picking all of the sad/depressing/dark words! My heart goes out to him as he learns from home and from someone who loves him. Hopefully the love will outweigh the stress that school and that his dad is (probably without meaning to) putting on him.
Sharon- lol You will get used to all of us and learn our names. Most of us, used to or still do do the double screen method or open a word document on a new tab and flip back and forth, responding as we read. I am technologically challenged and always took handwritten notes about everyone I wanted to respond to. Now, I just go by memory of what I read and sometimes I have to flip back to see who said what and so on. Just remember, once you start composing your post; you have to save it (copy it) before you move to another page or you will lose your post.
Machka and Pip- Love the bike pics! Whoot! Go team W50+!!
Meg- I hear you on the yard work! I got used to the weeks of no rain and my grass that wasn't growing so didn't need mowing. The cooler temps and rain in the past two-three weeks have had me out mowing twice in that time! This kind of weather really makes everything grow like crazy!
Rebecca- Like you, I have a snack shelf just for me. I make my son and hubby keep their snacks in one cupboard that I just don't even open and look in there! If they let me know they need something, I will pick it up with my groceries and stock it, but otherwise; they are on their own in Bad Snack City.
Heather- Glad you are feeling better!
Yesterday was a weird day with the kids. They were all crabby and a little "off" their normal moods. One of them had two accidents (I now have a couch headed to the dump), the babies were very clingy and one of the three year olds stuck a couple of peas up his nose at lunch! He thought it was funny, until he couldn't get them out! They were in far enough that I couldn't coax them out with my fingernail; so I plugged his other nostril and put my hand over his mouth and had him blow out his nose. They both shot out like little green bullets! He then cried because that made his ears pop. lol Like I said, weird day!
Hoping for no mishaps or craziness today! Sending you all hugs ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
