I have tried low fat several times, crashed horribly every time. Enjoyed low carb, but too much restriction on the starch portions left me wanting in the end. So now it's pretty basic, aiming for balance and variety, most of it simple and home cooked, delicious but nothing fancy.

getting close to being diabetic - low carbs, mainly from vegetables, a little fruit and milk. Over the last 5 months my body and mind seem to be happy with about 30 % carbs and 35 % each of protein and fat. Lost just over 20 kg, about 45 pounds. Still about 60 kg to go.

I don't diet, I've changed my lifestyle. And I've done that by counting calories. CICO all the way.

Eating all the foods I like and drinking all the drinks, but paying attention to portion size and calorie burn. I believe there's no point in restricting your diet unless there's a health reason to do so.
