Two steps forward one step back! I guess I can, at least, be grateful for only one step back. It could’ve been so much worse...and yet, it could’ve been so much better. #thestruggleisreal

So, what's going on with everyone? This thread has really been quiet. What are your plans for the holidays?

I'm just going to put myself out there and say that on the ACTUAL holiday, I will celebrate and likely go over on calories, but here's the thing: One meal, or even one day, doesn't derail progress. I do plan to stick with it on non holidays. I am debating making cookies this year because I don't really want the temptation right in front of my nose for six weeks straight.

I don't want to have to re-lose weight due to the holiday "season." I can celebrate and have fun and NOT go over on calories, even with company present. On the other hand, I'm not going to beat myself up about it either. It is time to get off the guilt train

My first time posting but not my first time looking for support!

Last week I started teaching a class for 4H on health and nutrition and I know all the kids are wondering how on earth I can teach them about health! And their right, how can someone who needs to lose 100 pounds teach them about being healthy?

So instead I'm turning this around and I'm letting them teach me! If only I would have learned what they are now learning, I feel as if I wouldn't be where I am today!

Starting with sugar! Our lesson had the kids measure out how much sugar was in a regular soda...holy crap! I knew it was bad, but I didnt know HOW BAD until I measured it out!

Thanks for listening. I hope to make some friends here 😁

Hello! I'm from East, TN where I've lived for 30 years. As of this morning I have 105 lbs to lose. I got down to 255 last October. I've since gained 15 lbs lost 20 and gained it and another 10 lbs back again . I'm tired of this roller coaster of losing and gaining, of feeling defeated and giving. I'm tired of hurting, being tired all of the time. I was doing weight watchers earlier this year, then gave up for two months feeling defeated. Yesterday, I decided I am going to do this, I can do this. I'm logging in both my ww app and I wanted to see if I'm staying under my calories on ww. I don't think I was doing so last time around. Looking for motivation and welcome to new friends! :)<3

Hey, what an excellent way to teach kids! Tell the adult how to get healthy and stay that way!

Plus, there's the difference between KNOWING and DOING. I don't know how long this class will last, but I think showing that you are doing what they say you should will leave a truly lasting impression.

    Welcome!

Welcome! I'm down somewhere between 55 and 60 pounds and started about ten pounds heavier than you are now. I know it has really helped me to know that I have compatriots in weight loss, no matter how our health/fitness/goals differ.

The suspense is killing me.... so so so close to ONEDERLAND!!!

Welcome to the new friends, the lurking friends AND the old friends checking in. This board has been quiet. Let's get this party started. It's so nice to come to a thread where we can all relate to the challenges, struggles and victories that this journey brings. I am down to help support us through the holidays. It can be a tough time for those of us that love food and use it as a crutch. I am mainly talking about myself, but I am sure you can relate.

I am having foot surgery 11/28... so I'm trying to get as much physical activity in now before I will be laid up for a couple of weeks. The holiday baking will be a challenge, so I'm only making one treat to give as gifts.

Here's to a successful week to everyone!

I've really fallen off the wagon with exercise and making good food choices, but I've still logged a lot. Lots of things got me off my routine, and I'm struggling to get back to it. I'm making a million excuses and I know it, I just don't know how to fix it. I'm determined to get to the gym at least 3 times before/ right after Thanksgiving. I don't participate in black friday, so I can hit the gym then.

Are any of you making Christmas cookies this year? My family loves them but MAN I do not need those around the house. I usually start making the shortbreads and keeping them in the freezer about this time of the season, and I think keeping them frozen will help me. I've really struggled with being hungry later in the day and into the evening recently and that's when the bad decision-making happens for me.

The other thing I *could* do is put mint in everything. I hate mint in baked goods

@DebCountsAll I feel you, Sister! I am struggling to motivate myself to make my annual peanut butter balls. They are FAT PILLS... and of course, I love them. But so does everyone else and it makes for a good economical gift. My plan is to make them in the morning when my motivation is strongest (I have the same evening problem as you) and then either #1 freeze them in my freezer or #2 ask a friend to put them in their freezer. I may have to go with #2. When there is bad food in the house, I always seem to find a weak moment (especially in the evenings) to give in. Not good. Your mint idea is a good one for you.

Yes, I have a lot of baking planned. BUT it is all for gift giving, so I know I can't eat it all. I almost feel bad giving people cookies and breads, but I know they share it with their families, so it's not all calories for one person.

It has taken me *all* of this week just to get back to where I was last Saturday morning. This would be fine if I was on maintenance, but I’m not. I think I need this lesson now, right before the holidays, to really understand what one day’s overindulgence nets.

For the breakfast suggestion, I often have to do a rush breakfast in the car and do well taking along a green smoothie with protein powder boost.
If you have a little time to do meal prep on the weekend the best is baking up a batch egg/turkey sausage/spinach cups in a muffin tin and then your set for the week. You said you like oatmeal, well there are also recipes out there for simple baked oatmeal in muffin tin that travel well and can be made in advance! Hope that helps a little and good luck on your journey!:)
