12/4 149.8 I’ve been at this exact weight for days now!
12/5 149.6 A .2 pound weight loss per day would be nice rate.
12/6 150.4 I was hoping never ever ever to see 150 on the scale again. Sodium is my enemy!
12/7 150.4 well this might have been a different story if I didn’t have margaritas last night. Did great all day then that. Oh well, onward.

My 22nd round!
OSW: 186 (March 2018)
UGW: 144-147
Pre challenge weight loss: -12 lbs.
Challenge weight loss R40 – R60: -30 lbs.
R61 SW: 144
With the help of these challenges, I’ve made it to a very comfortable weight for me. I’ve lost some weight many times in the past, but my biggest challenges have been to maintain it. My goal this round and going forward will be to maintain my weight in the low to mid 140’s.
Day/Weight/Comment
12/04 - 144 - I'm happy and a little surprised I didn't have a delayed bump from the weekend. Even though I only had a couple hundred extra calories each day, I've gotten so used to only eating around 1200 calories that unless it's a special event of some kind, I feel kind of guilty when I go over.
12/05 - 144 - Holding steady, which is where I like to be for now.
12/06 - 143 - It's good to see a little drop before the weekend.
12/07 - 143.5 - Not enough water yesterday.
12/08 - 143.5 - I just had a wonderful evening with my daughter. We went to see Christmas lights at a local historic mansion then went out to eat. I ate just under maintenance, but the quality of the calories were not that great. I'm sure my weight will be up tomorrow, but it was worth it.
12/09 - 144.5 - This is what I was expecting. I just hope it doesn't go up again tomorrow since my body can have a delayed reaction at times. Drinking water and eating better today. I'm not regretting the fun last night at all!

Round 61 - my 4th round
Female - 58 - 5'7"
OSW: 271.8 (Oct 9/18)
UGW: 165 or lower
End R58: 261.2 (-2.2)
End R59: 258.8 (-2.4)
End R60: 256.6 (-2.2)
My goal is to stick to 1500 calories or less per day. I would love to see the 240s by the end of December and I feel confident I can do it.
12/03 - 256.6 - End R60 - bumped up 2# from the day before with indulgent after dinner eating.
12/04 - 255.8
12/05 - 253.8 - This is what I like about daily weighing. I can see that one or two off-plan days don't have to turn in to ruination as long as I get back to plan asap. (I edited my weight after posting because of TMI )
12/06 - 254.4 - Yesterday, I made fudge for my partner to take to his Christmas party at work. Do I have to even tell you who ate some? To taste test of course. The scale will show me a better number tomorrow.
12/07 - 255.6 - The scale didn't show me a better number today. lol . Too much non-essential eating before bed.
12/08 - 254.0 - That's better!
12/09 - 000.0 - DNW - I'm without a scale this morning. I ate approx. 4735 calories yesterday, almost all of them last night, all carbs & fat. Ugghhhh. I've had a very emotionally exhausting week and really crappy sleep and it's showing in my very poor food choices.

CW - 186.4
RGW - 185.4
UGW – 135
Food Goals:
Get 5 servings of fruits/veggies every day.
Stay under my calorie goal of 1,400.
Exercise Goals:
Walk at least an hour 3 days a week, 4 days if nothing better is available.
Weight training 1 day a week
12/04 - 186.4 Just one day off from hitting my 186 goal. I guess eating 300 calories all day and 1100 after 6:00 p.m. is going to have an impact. Sure I stayed within goal but the timing screwed me for next day weigh in - lesson learned. Going to the gym tonight for weights. After six rounds I've lost 5.9 pounds. Very close to a pound a week. If I keep that pace I'll be at my goal in 1 year. I started in March but didn't really get serious until July or August. Here's to the next six weeks. It would be nice to start the new year in the 170's.
12/05 - Traveling no scale. I drove four hours yesterday in the snow, then went straight to the hotel. I did two miles on the treadmill but did not make it to the gym. The roads are clear, I'm going to the gym tonight.
12/06 - Traveling no scale. Went to the gym and had a great workout. Stayed within calories and didn't have any sweets. I'm driving 4 hours home this afternoon - in snow again. I'm a little anxious about tomorrow morning's weigh-in after two days of nothing. This weighing every day thing is kind of addictive.
12/07 - 186.1 I'm happy with that. My boyfriend was traveling with me which means I'm going to much more interesting restaurants and it's more of a challenge to stay within calories. In this case Thai and Vietnamese; I struggle to log it. I do my best guess and that has to be good enough. I still exercised and didn't go too crazy (Ok I had more of his onion strings than I should have on the last day).
12/08 - 186.7 Boom- Chicka Dark Chocolate drizzle is fine in small quantities, unfortunately small quantities aren’t possible because it’s so delicious. I now know I can’t handle it and won’t buy it again. I have no excuse
12/09 - 185.3 Not sure why I’m down today but I ain’t mad. I was right on target yesterday and my only exercise was moving furniture and house cleaning but I guess it was enough.

12/03 - 174.8
12/04 - 174.6 Small victory. I enjoyed goulash and garlic bread for dinner last night but used portion control.
12/05 - 174.6 Holding steady. I have to keep motivated. I should maybe add a little more exercise, or just some exercise lol, would be good. I know that would kick it up (or down) a notch.
12/06 - 174.0 Now that's more like it. 20 minutes on the treadmill and I survived. I might try it again tonight.
12/07 - 172.8 Woo Hoo! Gotta keep on it. Love the feeling of accomplishment.
12/08 - 173.6 Too much celebration. I didn't think I went over on my calories that much but just poor food choices - starchy and salty. I did exercise. Minor setback. I'm going to concentrate on more water and more veggies this weekend and maybe Monday i will see that number on the scale again.

12/04 - Tuesday - 178.8 - Hmmm...well thats interesting. I guess the weekend just took a day to catch up with me. Yesterday was a good eating day, even did a little yoga to destress and it was a circus at work. Not sweating it though...I felt really good this morning. Sticking to habits today, canned soup for lunch and eggroll in a bowl for dinner and tomorrows lunches. When I closed yesterdays diary is said I would be 170.5 in 5 weeks time so that was encouraging seeing that I'm not far "off schedule" to short term goal #3!
12/05 - Wednesday - 178.8 - Ate Wendys without prelogging last night and now I know that a spicy chicken sandwich and fries is 1100 calories! Whoops. Ended the day around maintenance but it was not what I had planned and beat myself up over it for a moment - DH reminded me that it is a TREAT and I'm not eating fast food every day like I used to. I then gave myself some credit for the changes I've made and was able to enjoy the fact that we actually had a nice impromptu dinner date. This is a LIFELONG journey so getting used to a normal amount of eating out is needed - I cant beat myself up over living life! But I can learn from it!
12/06 - Thursday - 177.4 - Stressful evening last night. DH may be seeking other employment, unknown is terrifying but we will be okay. Anyway, work feels like a funeral today. Stuck to habits this morning and will be clinging to them thru this. Endo follow up this afternoon - and physical appointment labs came back looking good! My non-fasting glucose was 87 at 3PM!!! More labs to be done today and hoping to see improvement there also.
12/07 - Friday - 177.0 - Feeling more optimistic about our future today - the only thing I can plan for is that the plan will change - sticking by that motto through this next chapter. Endocrinologist appointment was amazing. Doc said I can come off my metformin, and other meds - continue with lifestlye changes and ready to start trying to conceive!!! PCOS symptoms have subsided, which is the whole reason I got serious about this journey. Smashing goals and pushing on to the next goal!
12/08 - Saturday - 176.0 - low cal day yesterday, mostly due to nerves still, wasnt terribly hungry. Our neighbor/tenant brought over homemade soup and grilled cheese for dinner, so that saved me from the super salty chili baked potato I had planned and was a nice little get together. Brought the dog for a bath at the new pet store and washed bedding so everyones feeling less stuffy and squeky clean! Also noticed my hair feels really healthy! Making meal plans today, need to do full haul grocery shop and farm shop.
12/09 - Sunday - 175.6 - Yesssss!!! Ate what I wanted yesterday but kept it in the green. This May also be a little bit stress related but Im usually a stress overeater so I'll take it as a win.

Back in the "legal" zone. I'm still slacking off on exercise because of lingering pain, especially in my joints. The elimination diet I was on eliminated 15 pounds but not the pain. Still a win! We tried another short course of prednisone and will re-check inflammation levels mid month and go from there. In the meantime, I need to suck it up and exercise anyway. Maybe I should join a "get off your butt for 10 days" challenge!
12/05 - 131.2 - 1160 - 10-day ave 1383
Follow-up visit with dietitian today re. the elimination diet, which has made no difference in my pain/inflammation. It will be interesting to hear what other suggestions she might have. In the meantime, I'm trying a new baked salmon patty recipe for lunch. Mmmm!
12/06 - 130.4 - 1370 - 10-day ave 1399
OK, back down where I belong. My dietitian visit left me a little confused and blue. I've seen no difference in pain with the elimination diet I did, and no symptoms of any sensitivities as I've added foods back into my diet. The only major changes I've noticed is that my gut seems to be functioning better and I lost 9 pounds on the diet. Anyway, my integrative doctor is sending me to another rheumatologist, and I know he's going to want me to take prednisone long term, and I'm not happy about that. The dietitian did say that 6 weeks of eliminating foods may not be enough and suggested I think about doing it again for 12 weeks, or even doing the much more restrictive auto-immune paleo diet. But of course if I take pred and follow the diet and the pain subsides, we won't know which treatment did it. I had such high hopes for the elimination diet I was on that I'm really bummed out right now. I don't want to be on pred long term but it's the only medication mentioned in anything I've read about PMR. Anyway, thanks for listening. My salmon patty (new recipe) yesterday was delicious, so there is that! And our kitten is lovely and funny and sweet, and I just sold two paintings, and I've just started a new book (writing, not reading, although I did just start Louise Penny's new book, Kingdom of the Blind). So I guess a bit of pain isn't the end of the world. Thanks for giving me a place to unload.
12/07 - 130.6 - 1140 - 1382
I'm feeling slightly less overwhelmed, although...I asked for a referral to a different rheumatologist and my integrative doctor tried, but because ALL the rheums in this system are in the same practice, they won't let me see a different doctor. I will not go back to the first one - he didn't listen, dismissed my concerns about prednisone, IMO lied to me abut potential side effects (said there are non for short-term use, which is not true), and spoke so fast I couldn't understand him (I had to see the printed appt report before I knew what he diagnosed, although I asked him to repeat several times). The other system in town has rheumatologsits but it's a 40-min drive to the office, which I'd just as soon avoid, so I'm pretty annoyed. I am going to contact the hospital admin to find out about recourse - can they really deny me care because I didn't feel comfortable with one of their doctors? The patient is punished for the doctor's shortcomings? OK, another rant, but I'm almost to the point of saying I'll just live with the pain. So annoying.

It's water! We went out for lunch yesterday and my calories & sodium were both high for the day, plus I had a minor binge last night that would have been fine if not for the big lunch. But it's fine - I have today mapped out. Happy weekend!

12/5 187.4 This may not stick. My calories were low yesterday and sometimes that makes the next day hard not to eat everything in sight. Will do my best and log everything! Did one hour of yoga yesterday too.
12/6 187.2 I’ll take it, had pizza for dinner and even though I stayed in my calorie range I didn’t know what to expect on the scale this morning
12/7 189.2 out to dinner last night, hope this is just water retention from sodium. 1 hour of yoga today
12/8 191.4 ?!? I felt pretty good about yesterday but obviously not as well as I thought. This is disappointing because I have been bouncing around 188-192 for a month and felt good about where I was two days ago.
12/9 191.2 not a lot of change but I didn’t expect one at all. I was sort of a bottomless pit last night. Water and walk today to shed the same 3 lbs. I have lost 10 times already in the last month.

I am a 50 year old 5'5" woman. I am trying to get healthier to avoid diabetes and all of the problems that come from being overweight.
I have found this challenge to be both rewarding and frustrating! Looking at my weight daily has been a real eye opener to see all of the fluctuations and how a high carb day will affect me and the loss for 2-3 days after.
I need to step up my game if I want to meet any of my goals.

12/04 174.4 undeserved but i'll enjoy it while it lasts
12/05 173.2 and the sun is shining!!
12/06 173.8 early weigh in - enjoyed some fruitcake yesterday but stayed within my calories - next special event is on the 12th so hopefully i can make some progress before then
12/07 173.8 not enough exercise yesterday
12/08 173.2
12/09 173.4 maintenance as a goal for the season is definitely helping with the stress, but I notice that my nutrition is not as good - too many carbs and salt and not enough protein - so this is not sustainable long term. Will try to address that this week.

Day/Weight/Comment
12/04 221.4 pounds. Just got back from a wonderful vacation and my weight is up a bit. Looking forward to the next ten days of getting back on track.
12/05 214.4 pounds. Either that was a lot of water weight gain from my vacation or my sister's scale weighs differently than mine. Mine is new and recently calibrated and is what I've been using since I restarted my weight loss program in September, so I'll take it. Only 1.2 pounds to go until I'm at my pre-vacation weight. I can probably get there during this ten day challenge.
12/06 214 pounds. Yesterday was a good day. I was a bit frustrated because my Fitbit decided not to record my heart rate accurately during my workout. Stopped and took my heart rate the old fashioned gym class way and found that it was almost twice the 72 bpm that Fitbit recorded. But I know that its readings don't really matter and that I'll lose the weight and increase the cardio fitness even when that happens. Anyway, only .8 pounds more than when I left for vacation. Glad for MFP and this thread for the accountability. It really helps.
12/07 213.4 pounds. Yesterday was a good day. Today should be a good one too since I've been called into work and I always get a lot of walking in when I work.
12/08 211.8 pounds. Wow. Don't know how long this will stick, but I'll take it. My new approach to weight loss is that when I'm up for calorie deficits, I cut calories, and when I'm not, I try to maintain. I arrived at this conclusion when I realized that I've gained and lost the same twenty pounds for years. If only I'd maintained in the off times, I'd be at a healthy weight now. Admittedly, I ate over maintenance more that half the days I was on vacation. I'm pretty proud of myself to getting back to it. My pattern would have been to go months or years with too many over maintenance days. Glad it was only a couple of weeks this time.
12/09 213.8 pounds. We had a get together last night and I wound up eating just over maintenance. Challenges of this season, I'm afraid. Not going to sweat it too much. Back at it today.

@deepwoodslady What a wonderful post, you are so kind to take the time and post thank yous to everyone that has inspired you. Your posts have definitley been an inspiration to me as well.
@GrandmaJackie I am repeating the example that @deepwoodslady has set, thank you for the thread. I am sure everyone here has made better choices, has found this group to be the most effective and motivating group on MFP and personally reading everyone's day to days has kept me going longer then any diet program or competitive group. I have never lasted a year on MFP and I am making it a personal goal to do so, this thread will definitley make it easier. I don't think I have ever had such great progress and commitment without. I could write pages and pages on how effective and life changing it has been to be here but I will end it here with a big thank you before I take a whole page up with my thoughts lol
@tiabirdie56 and @quiltingjaine thank you for all your wonderful advice and recipes, your years of wisdom have taught me more about this process then any self help book or advice from any RL strugglers. I dont think without the both of you I would have had realistic expectations and I just wanted you both to know how much I have appreciated every word you have written and commented on not only my posts but others.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to post daily, no matter how much or how little you write I have found every individual inspirational in their own way and I dont think I have ever been more excited to read everyone's days to days in my life. In the past 5 or so months of being apart of this group, I have built better habits and have had less discouraging days then I would have had on my own. Thank you!!

ROUND 61 (Round 8 for me)
5’5” 66 y/o Texas Lady
SW 178 lb.
GW 140 lb.
Started Keto WOE on September 24th (2018). Still experiencing decreased arthritis hip and shoulder pain since the second week of Keto. Since starting the keto, I’ve lost 21 lb., I wear smaller jeans, and I’m encouraged to press on. Staying within calorie limits is easy enough, but not exceeding my carb limit is difficult. Per my KetoMojo meter, I’m in ketosis most of the time.
Rounds 54 – 60 resulted in a loss of 20.4 lb.! Love it!

12/04 156.4 This is what I wanted to see yesterday! Better late than never. Yesterday, my podiatrist offered a $450 custom orthotic insert my insurance won’t cover. I’ll think about it for 2 weeks before I see the doctor again. Meanwhile, I have a wrap on my foot, and Thor (my GSD) and I will start C25K today. We walked 5.2 miles twice last week, so it’s time to pick up the pace.
12/05 156.0 Thor and I incorporated C25K into the beginning of our 5 mile walk yesterday. I was excited, and it felt great; however, last night, my left knee hurt—a lot. I iced it and took an extra anti-inflammatory. It’s not quite as bad this morning, but it hurts, and I’m walking with care. My initial thought is that I should have done more lower body strength training to prepare myself. I may have to backtrack and give myself another month of preparation. My foot didn’t hurt, so I’ll probably trust the podiatrist and buy the orthotic insert. I ran in my new Mizuno running shoes, which is a brand that has wide widths, good arch support, and has served me well in the past. I really want to run again.
12/06 156.2 As slow as I moved yesterday, this weight looks reasonable. I was supposed to complete my second C25K session today, but it’s not to be. I’ll have to be patient—knee is still hurting. I practiced walking slowly yesterday and making my knee bend. I can’t walk stiff-legged and expect it to loosen up. My cousin gave me an ointment, and I used heat a few times yesterday. I see the orthopedist tomorrow. For today, I’m going to play cards with the girls and try not to think about the knee. I’ve learned, “All things work together for good to them who love the Lord, to those who are called according to his purpose.” I just have to stop whining and complaining. 😊 Have a blessed day, Everyone!
12/07 155.2 No whining or complaining! I enjoyed playing cards with the girls and ate according to plan, but I sure miss walking normally. Thor doesn’t understand why we’re not getting out for our walks. I hope to get tips/information from the orthopedist that will soon have me walking (running?) again without pain.
12/08 154.4 I like the looks of that number. Doc said I have a torn meniscus and gave me a steroid shot. He suggested I stick with walking, but I’m not ready to give up on running. I will strengthen my knees before trying to run again. I hope the meniscus will heal, but, if not, I’ll have it repaired. This morning, my knee still bends more easily, but it’s more swollen than yesterday. I’ll try some ice. This, too, shall pass!
12/09 154.4 Good morning! After posting yesterday, I looked up “swelling after steroid injection.” Apparently, it’s common and I need to ice and stay off my feet, as much as possible, for a couple of days. Sounded like a good excuse to take it easy, so, except for preparing meals, I rested! This morning, there’s less swelling, but the knee is still sore. I guess, after church, I’ll have to take it easy again. Today, I will pray for a blessed day of rest, in God’s loving care, for all of us.
