Welcome! A 1/2 mile straight is a great target! You also might want to consider looking at one of the couch to 5k programs as they work the same way (walking and running mix, slowly increasing the running).3 -
I wold like to Join. I am in the middle of a couch to 5k program and and working toward jogging for 30 minutes straight. i am at 6 minutes right now. I am not sure what to put down as a goal for January. as i am trying to walk/jog 5 days a week for 5 miles.7

Welcome Newbies and Returnees!! This is a great supportive group but warning that it can be addictive (both the running and the group). Also the discussion moves very fast but stick with it as it is very informative with runners at all levels, has great discussions and is just a lot of fun too!
I am in again but will wait to set a goal once I see the doctor on Friday! Hoping to be released to start running again!

Goal for January is 45 miles. And to try to get my daughter out to run with me a few more times!5

Welcome to the group @AshDouglas210 @melika2011 @RedStickdad and @1coolmama28 .
I'm in for 75 miles in January.6 -
I am a previous logger but deleted my account since it was linked to my Facebook and I'm looking to take a break from that for a few months. I'm in for 112.5 miles in January though I will be visiting family in the NE for 10 days so between the cold and my dislike of treadmills, I may fall behind that week. I'm also reducing my runs from 5 per week to 4 as I'm starting to struggle with the weekly volume and my work schedule so I'm reducing my "goal". If I can run on Mondays, then I will, but I won't hold myself accountable for them. I also feel like I'm running stronger during my long runs with the extra rest day- I will still be active and either walk or ride those days.
This will be my third month logging in these challenges and I have to say thank you for creating them. They are a motivator because I look forward to logging in. I also enjoy reading the personal stories posted by the members and the fact these threads always stay positive. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend.10 -
Hi guys! Welcome to the new year!
I think I can probably make 60 miles this month if the weather holds, but want to have some flexibility if the weather is terrible. So 50 miles with a stretch goal of 60. My real goals are to keep running regularly through inclement weather, and have fun at my first trail race, which is on the 6th of January. The second race of the series is January 20.
I'll be back to set goals for 2019 on the 1st of January. The week after Christmas is my down time between achieving my last goals and setting new ones.5 -

Welcome to the challenge! Two years ago I was where you are now, could barely walk to the mailbox and my husband did many chores because I would get out of breath. No asthma in my case (although my husband has exercise-induced asthma), just really really out of shape. Walking and then running, and losing weight along the way, has made a huge difference in my life.
A couple of starting tips - see someone at a store about good supportive walking shoes. And make sure your asthma meds are up to date, maybe carry a rescue inhaler on your walks at first.9 -
I haven't set a Jan goal yet, but posting to subscribe and to let @Elise4270 know I just sent a report to the mods to edit the title.6

I'm going to revise my January goal. I had put down 25 miles, counting only my running miles. I've changed my mind though. I'm going to include my walking miles in with my running miles since this power walking is helping me get ready for running, and I expect I'll be walking for at least half my 50 mile race in April, if I even make it that far.
And it makes for a bigger number.
So, for walking & running combined, my January goal is now 80 miles.11 -
Well I’m here, and here’s my 2019 goals:
March - Run a Spring Trail HM
May - self-supported long-distance Walk 80 miles along the Skye Trail
June - Run an off-road Marathon
September - Run an ultra
But before all of that starts in a week or so I’ll be climbing a mountain, in the snow and ice.

Are you magic? Hahahaha! Oh, WHEW! They changed it! Oh I’m sooo happy the MFP mods are smiling upon us! WE LOVE YOU MODS! Of course, we’re the best group on here so.... we deserve it7 -
I am totally in for my first MFP Running Challenge.
For 2019, I have set myself the goal of running at least one race every month. Plus I have my next half-marathon coming up on St. Paddy's Day, and I have signed up for a challenge to run and walk 2,000 miles in 2019, so I've got lots going on this year and these challenges will help me stay accountable.
For January, I am setting myself two goals -- both a running mileage and overall accumulative mileage. My running mileage goal for January is 50 miles, and my overall movement mileage goal for January is 167 miles.
Looking forward to getting started and getting to know you all!10 -
Runner from down under here! Rebooting running after some injuries. My focus is running 3x week & strength training 2-3 x week & 1 yoga sesh. It’s summer here so the aim is low and the speed is slow lol. Easing back into the rhythm and plan on being in great shape for turning 57 next year.
Will run another 10k to beat previous turtle time & wondering if a sub 30 5k is a realistic goal that won’t end in death!
Today’s temp is 41 Celsius so out early and a slow 25 min shuffle.9 -
My mileage plan is 71.0 miles for January. I feel that is a stretch for me. I’m still Bambi-ing running. I feel more like fog-horn Leghorn running though. Now see here, I say, I say son legs listen to me.... he had to be a runner with a name like “Leghorn”, right? I wonder if that little chicken hawk ever grew up and ate him. (I know. Lotta words here, no meaning. It’s intentional).
But 71 it is. Nothing wrong with falling a bit short and nothing wrong with trying.
Welcome newbies and seasoned-bies. Seasoned bees. Buzzing about. Ugh. Fine. I’m going to the TM. I can not tell a lie. Nor can I stall any longer.6 -

If anyone ever wants that sort of mod report done, you use the "Flag" button.
Hit "Flag" > "Report" > click "Other" > type your request.
Probably seems a bit counter-intuitive to Flag/Report your own post, but it works!4 -
I am going to commit to 35 running miles in January.
I am just getting back into running, and my goal is to run 2-3 miles 3-4x per week, increasing our the next 6 months to 3-5 miles 6 days a week. I don't want to increase too quickly and get injured, but I think I should be able to ramp this up by the end of June.
I am looking forward to this challenge.
