what you need most is a plan. not to rely on motivation or others. a plan is what keeps me going.
Put your stats in myfitnesspal and a reasonable rate of loss. it will give you a recommended calorie goal. from there, buy and use a scale for all foods. you'll see where you are at and where you can cut.
from there you can play around with macros to see what keeps you full. some people need more fat, others more carbs, others more volume.
don't see this as a period of special eating to loose weight. see it as learning how to eat. once you get to your goal weight just increase your calories for maintenance but keep most of the same habits to avoid gaining.

Hey Kathy! The best thing to do is have a plan and set goals. Small changes equals big results. It no doubt helps to have people support you and to be there when you are struggling. You are more than welcome to add me. 2019 will be a great year.0
