Step one of the CR Italian style cheesecake.
Chances of my NOT eating it before I complete the recipe?
    Not great.
Good thing I have the Costco case of egg whites...

If you sprinkle the protein powder over the egg whites after beating them, and continue beating in the protein powder slowly, will that deflate the eggs?

I’ve tried several times now... keep getting distracted and eating the cake!!
Last version sprinkled with cacao nibs and coconut flake.
    Wedged it up, froze it.
Ate it frozen because I do that. Weird old habit.

Erg. I don't know what I did wrong, but didn't come out like I expected. Beat the egg whites, cream of tartar and vanilla as instructed, folded in protein powder and baked. The texture was really off for me.

Describe the texture? Maybe you did not fold the protein powder but mixed it in and deflated the cake?

Spongy texture that tasted like eggs. Sorry, just wasn't for me. Yes, looked like your picture. I'll try one more time just to see if it's something I did, but not expecting much. I'd rather budget for a regular piece vs. a knockoff.

How could it taste like eggs? Was it your egg whites? My taste like the protein powder I use and thats it. Weird.
This isnt a knock off. Title clearly says (protein) and the recipe has ZERO flour in it.

Eggs were fresh. Not going to argue. Just sharing MY experience that it didn't turn out how I anticipated and that I didn't like the taste. No worries from me as everyone has what they like and don't like.

I love it! I top it with Walden Farm's pancake syrup, or the maple walnut syrup, and whipped cream - and sometimes fresh strawberries

I usually alternate between this and the (original) cheesecake - but now I have to fit the Italian cheesecake into the rotation LOL

do egg whites even have a taste? I've never noticed...

I've noticed that meringue can taste slightly 'eggy' if the whites haven't been whisked sufficiently.

(I've ordered some protein powder just so I can try out this recipe)
