Just about one year between these two. I've been on this latest fitness and weight loss adventure for almost two years now. Lifting heavy every step of the way!

Ladies, how do you decide on what to do for weight lifting!? Any good sites for a program that isn’t 5x5?0

Thank you very much, I hadn't yet asked the question, but got it answered.0 -
I love this thread. I started reading it 3 years ago and then I've just had to catch up on the last 2 years worth of posts, haha! Still fighting my fear of the free weights section at my gym though, I know it's psychological but I can't seem to get past it. I'm hoping that I can at least make a small difference with the machines and hopefully move to the free weights when I'm ready2

(First day at gym) - (maintenance) - (1 year at gym)
Lifting the whole year. Can't wait for year 2. Really need to take some flexing photos, and some bikini photos...32 -

Aww, Likeafox, I want to tell you to just go for it! You belong in the free weights section as much as anyone else. We all pay a membership!
That being said, I still am intimidated by the squat racks. So now I try to do my leg days first thing in the morning - like at 6:30 am because then I don’t have to elbow my way to it. I use a small university gym (since Sept) so there are lots of superfit sports players... most of the time I am totally ignored, but lately some of these super sports boys actually acknowledge my 44 year old presence. It’s like I passed a test! I don’t lift nearly what they do, but who gives a crap. do what you do. If I can do it you can.5 -
I saw this thread for the first time today, and my eyes rolled around in my head because I thought I’d be reading about girls getting too bulky. Phew! Now that I see the posts, I’m so glad this thread got bumped.
One of these days I will post some pictures, but I’m still trying to get back into it - the last year and a bit has been a doozy: a surgery with two months where I couldn’t really lift, two deaths in my family that made it hard for me to go to the gym without sobbing, I lost a friend around the same time too, got injured, and changed jobs (and gyms!) Trying to lose some grief weight now before I can focus on getting HUGE. 🙄6 -
This thread is so empowering, thank you!
Here's a pic of me when I was lifting a few years back. Sadly I've put on about 40 lbs and totally lost my muscle definition, but I'm working on getting it back! Just got NROLFW but I'm too impatient to read all of the background info before starting, so I'm just muddling along in the weights section for now17 -
Thanks to months of weightlifting and running, I just found out today that I am no longer in the “overweight” BMI category. I’m a huge fan of weightlifting. It’s a lot of fun! I’m going to keep lifting even after I reach target weight.

Sorry to bump this thread again (although not really because it's super motivating to read/see) but I've started with a personal trainer to help me with my strength goals (and with my fear of the free weights section of the gym) so hopefully one day I can post properly in here, haha6
