    Awesome, that's a classic. <3 I went to the museum in Amsterdam, it was pretty fantastic. I would love to see his other work that's in NY.

    Yes, you are right. In fact, I heard Art Donavan and Art Vandelay speak on this very issue at a symposium in 2003.

    They were simply brilliant.

    Yes, in fact.... I attended that very symposium.

    It was held at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.





    The Kunsthistorisches also has a very nice snack bar.

    He painted Starry Night over the Rhône before Starry Night.
    The latter is said to have been painted while he was in an asylum.
    I was able to see the former in person at the Musee d'Orsay, as well as one of his self portraits.

    All my favorite art tends to be from artists I know, or have met. I like asking them about the process, the inspiration, and telling them what it means to me to look at it.

    I have a favorite book of fairy tales from my childhood as well. I retrieved it from my parents' house a while ago and I'm trying to remember where I put it. If I can find it I'll share a few pages.
