Listen to a song, then post one

Ever get the sense that everybody's talkin, but nobody's listening?

Rules for this thread are simple: post what you're listening to, AFTER you stop and listen to the above-poster's link. (So...use Youtube links, please!)

No rules beyond that. You don't have to talk about the song you just heard, but you can if you want. This is about broadening horizons, learning a bit about your fellow MFPers, but also taking a few minutes to listen to what someone else has to say through the universal language of music. I'll start with somethin pretty easy and generic from one of my playlists :)

I like the slow build to it

Here's one I've posted a lot in the other threads, but this might be my favorite songs of the last few years--definitely near the top, anyway. "Old Heart Falls" by Katatonia

This is a pretty good song and very emotional, I like that melodic kind of metal

That was good, really nice to chill to. I enjoyed it.

"Why would you resurrect this thread in order to kill it again?" you may wonder, as I post this 24-minute song. And I'll tell you why.

Because sometimes, in life, we need a champion. And maybe, just maybe, someone will lock their office door, set their notification to "busy" for the next 25 minutes, and lean back and listen to this sucker from start to finish.

And if they do, they're gonna hear a story told by instrumentals the likes of which they never have before. They're gonna hear lyrics, sure, but the music is gonna paint images in their mind of this story. They're gonna realize that you can't understand the weight of 3:40 without listening to the intro first. How smooth Russell Allen's voice can be; the subtle time changes, the key changes, they're all telling a story. The vocals at 9:00; the groove it hits at 10:20 or so...the new chapter at 12:15. They'll hear how, at 15:03, a new chapter begins--a chapter of action.

The battle at 16:43. Darkened skies, chaos, fear, uncertainty...

    Until...

At 19:00, they've arrived. The journey has been long, but they're almost there. That stunned silence, the awe of seeing it once more finally climaxes into a joyful release at 20:17--and enjoy the goosebumps--because now, it's home.

    "Triumphant, Champion of Ithaca"

They'll hear the story of the contest but, at this point, who can deny them what they've been chasing all this time?

And finally, at 23:26, the story ends.

And whoever the champion is who decides to sit down and give this 24-minute monster their uninterrupted attention, they're gonna realize that the highs wouldn't have been nearly so tremendous without the lows, and that this song is all about the journey.

    me:
    *rolls up sleeves*
    *does 5 jumping jacks*
    *recites self affirmations*
    *presses play*

eta: okay so far i like that 10 sec bit starting at 6:52 that was nice

    eta2: metamorphasized

eta3: finished, that was like 8 songs in one and i’ll be honest, most of the storytelling went right over my head but it like very detailed painting where i can appreciate the intricacy even tho it’s pretty much the opposite of the music i listen to

I crown thee the Champion of MFP!!

i really love this album maybe someone will listen to it and like it too

Listened front to back this morning and left me with a few thoughts and impressions.
    1) I'm trained to listen for bass, but not drums--really took some focus to keep coming back to what seemed to be the "lead" in so many songs
    2) There were spots that sounded real good leading up to "I Never Liked You" but that was probably the first song that really got me to stop what I was doing and check the title
    3) Again on the second half of A Lot of People Tell Me I Have a Fake British Accent
    4) I couldn't tell if I was starting to learn what to listen for or what, but Lets Face It Pal, You Didn't Need That Eye Surgery might have been my favorite of the album
    5) I wish I could get a job naming their songs

Now that I'm on the theme of dissonance, it brings this song to mind.
