@its_cleo I'm so sorry about the management job, that stinks. Hopefully something even better comes along. As far as recipe sites: there are a lot of great FREE recipe sites and some offer free meal plans so you don't even have to think about meal planning. For instance, www.skinnytaste.com is a great one, she offers good healthy recipes and sends out a meal plan once a week, all for free. www.allrecipes.com has a lot of good recipes to search through, that's where I get a lot of my recipes, but they don't have meal plans. For a paid website (but it doesn't have meal plans), I like America's Test Kitchen: https://www.americastestkitchen.com/ I have a subscription to all 3 of their sites in one subscription (Cook's Illustrated, ATK, and Cook's Country). Then there are sites like emeals: https://emeals.com/ that makes meal plans and grocery lists for you based on their recipes (but there isn't much flexibility in their plans, if you want to see a sample of one of their plans so you have an idea of what it's like, message me). Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to help! I use a recipe collector website called Plan to Eat: https://www.plantoeat.com/ It's not free, but I find it's a great place to store all my recipes in one place. :) I hope you enjoy the baseball and that it lifts your mood.

@RetiredandLovingIt Unfortunately, we weren't able to see any fireworks but it's probably for the best because it probably would have freaked my dog out. The traffic jam is what gets me, too. I do not have a Costco membership, but Trader Joe's has frozen orange chicken that isn't too bad. I'm thinking of getting a Costco membership, but considering it's just the two of us, it may not be worth it. I hope you had a great 4th.

@cbabie I did...will tell more below. I hope you had a great 4th as well!

@theslightedgeforever hahahaha! Yes, I like both versions myself. Thanks for the link to the journal again, I was hoping you'd post that again.

Hi all. I hope you had a good 4th. I did: went to the inlaws and we watched a movie and had good food. Came home and watched tv. People in the neighborhood set off some illegal fireworks but it wasn't too bad/didn't scare my dog too much. Yesterday, we went to Trader Joe's and got a bunch of easy-to-throw-together things/frozen family sized dinners so we don't have to cook. As it gets hotter, we will feel less like cooking and we need to do something because we can't eat out all the time.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! I was hosting friends and family so it was a very busy but fun day.

@cbabie - sorry to hear about your hand and I hope starts feeling better. I just found out my daughter fractured her finger playing basketball. We go see an orthopedic surgeon next week that will hopefully tell us she won't need surgery.

@theslightedgeforever ha my name is mostly an homage to the Ole Miss Rebels but I think we all have a little rebel inside of us. A little rebellion is good for the soul! =P

@its_cleo Try not to let it get you down too much. I hope you get good news though. Unfortunately I have dealt with this myself and sometimes it gave me that push to find a place that really appreciates my worth. I do love the show The Office but I wouldn't want to be a part of it lol. My husband had a boss just like Michael Scott... I don't how he has not been sued yet.

    Thank you @RetiredAndLovingIt!

Tonight we are headed to a Houston Astros game for a little baseball and fireworks! I need to be mindful of the snacking. I did get in a step workout this morning and will do lots of walking today. Happy Friday everyone!

@theslightedgeforever - I have a song for you over the PB, rice chips and milky way - GET BACK by the Beatles :):):) We are lucky with our water here in Western Australia and I actually like the taste of our water.

@teresaw1020 - I can take or leave "The Office" I would rather check out Taskmaster - I find that hilarious when I need a mood uplifter. How did your puppy go with the fireworks? Can you please explain what is NET carbs in the carb calculation (what do you take away from what to get net)??

@trooworld - I have just added those sites to my home page on my iPad and will investigate them later _ Thank you. - Chocolate hummus does not sound appetising at all :(

@its_cleo - Sorry to hear that you are grumpy and that you may be overlooked. I only hope that he is not as bad as you are painting. You spend a 1/3rd of your day at work :(

@retiredandlovingit - Such a long haul for to pick up the grandies. Do they stay with you long? Healthy snacks on a trip is a good thought

@lulurebel - I hope you have a nice time at the game tonight. it seems that both you and Its_cleo have a similar interest in baseball

@cbabie - The physio suggested pillows down the middle of the bed - do not know if that will work for you. I have a spare bedroom and DH slept down there

Well it is tax time here in OZ and I am trying to get the enthusiasm to start to sort out my stuff

    Taje care

    Good morning! :)

@trooworld, we watched the American version. It was funny! Not funny enough for me to get a Netflix subscription though. We just don’t watch enough TV to have Netflix and Hulu. And I’m not giving up my Hulu! :)

@its_cleo, your grumpiness is understandable with what you have going on at work. That is stressful and annoying that someone less qualified might now be your boss. I would be grumpy too! <3

@cbabie, I would stay off that treadmill until your doctor OK’s it. You just have to be patient, which I know is harder to do than say. Good for you for tacking! That is the one area I’m really trying to stay consistent with too. :)

@TrishasTime, My Maggie Mae did really well with the fireworks. She had to spend time in her crate that but that is her safe place, so she was OK. Net carbs mean that the fiber grams were subtracted. Fiber is a carbohydrate but the body doesn’t absorb it like other carbs so many people subtract it from their total carb count and that is when it becomes Net Carbs. To keep my total carbs really low I would have to give up veggies and that isn’t going to happen, so I count net instead of the total carbs. :)

Going to a wedding today for this young couple who are in my church with my pastor's wife and another girlfriend. It's an hour drive away and not until 4 pm so hubby decided not to go because we would be gone way too long and we don't like leaving our dog home that long and we didn't want to have to board her. Plus, he just isn't that into weddings. :D I will have no control over what I eat at the wedding so hoping that I will be able to good choices but of course I'm sure that I will not say no to the wedding cake! I do plan to have a long workout this morning and eat super low carb when I break my fast to hopefully balance things out. It's all about the balance! ;)

@cbabie You must sleep very poorly. :( You are welcome, I hope they are helpful. Enjoy your book!

@TrishasTime Our water is total crap over here. :( The chocolate hummus was not good. haha Good luck with the taxes, I'm glad ours are done!

@TeresaW1020 I'm glad you liked it. I have Hulu, too. Actually, I have Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Starz, HBO, Playstation Vue, and one of the other movie channels I can't remember lol. It's because we don't have cable...we are cord cutters. I like Hulu a lot. I hope you enjoy the wedding.

Hi gals! Did you hear about the earthquake we had on the west coast? It was a 7.1 magnitude. Even though it wasn't where I lived, we felt it...the floors shook. It was scary for about 30 seconds. It really shook me up. I can't imagine how frightening it was for the people near the epicenter of it. :(

@LULUREBEL I hope you enjoy the game! I prefer the Dodgers, so enough said lol. But Astros are looking like a great team again this year. Yeah the Office in real life is not fun, sorry for your husband. I also used to work somewhere with a colleague who was like we need to play the Curb Your Enthusiasm music sometimes it is so ridiculous!

@cbabie that is terrible sleeping in a chair! I hope you can figure something out, so you can get the rest to heal.

@TrishasTime there are some good Australian shows. I think I watched Angry Boys a long time ago. I think I liked it lol. I can’t remember much. Good luck with your taxes, it’s always a pain.

@TeresaW1020 I hope you have a great time at the wedding!

@Trooworld yeah I heard about the earthquake, glad you are okay. Very frightening. I experienced one once, it was very mild though. And thanks for all the recipe sites, I’ll take a look. I’ve used allrecipes before but the others are new to me. I really need some help doing something different.

I’m still grumpy, but will get over it- with the job I’m just waiting for the announcement that they awarded it to this guy. Once they do that I can deal with it and try to move on.

I’m very tired today so will just chill out. Tomorrow will go to the gym and maybe do the stairs. With the exercise- with running I have hit a plateau. I usually do very slow jogs and try to increase distance, but seem to have hit a limit. So next week I’m going to try shaking things up and doing some shorter sprints. It will be fun and a change if nothing else.

With food- I am doing okay, but I’m thinking about making some changes with the meat I eat. Usually I eat everything, but I am thinking about cutting out ground beef (ground anything), and sausages, because they are not as good healthwise as like chicken breast, steak, fish etc. TeresaW1020 you’ve also inspired me to look at my carbs so I’m just monitoring right now to see what my intake is.

I’m still on maintenance calories, as I am primarily focused on making changes to my diet and getting used to it first.

Hope everyone has a great day.

    Morning gals,
I tried to sleep in bed last night I had a horrible night and woke up with a headache my arm hurting. Try something different tonight. I didn't do well on Park yesterdayHad a rough dayBut today's a different day. I like putting my protein in my fruit it gave it a grade B for keto that was good usually get an F. LOL

@trooworld I wondered about you and the earthquake. Thank you for checking in with us.

@TrishasTime I hate tax time...Since my kids still live at home anymore we usually do not get a refund. I laughed at your song for my sister get back by the Beatles I'm sure she'd love that probably will use it.

@TeresaW1020 I love wedding cake I pray that you can resist, But if notI understand.. lol Thank you for the explanation on net Carbs that makes sense. I am staying off the treadmill I don't want to risk it.

@its_cleo You need closure with this guy that you work with. And I believe that once they make the announcement you will MoveOn. I think we all are trying to focus on little changes.

I hope you all have a good dayEnjoy your weekend

@TeresaW1020 - Thanks for the information - I am glad your DH like wedding enough to have one with you (LOL). Enjoy your time and pick as many good choices as you can

@trooworld - We did hear about it over there, but I was not sure where you were in relation to it. I am glad you are okay :)

@its_cleo _ That is a good idea to shake things up - I have read somewhere that our body gets used to a routine and does not burn off as many calories as it did when you first start the routine. I do hope you are feeling better tomorrow. I must ask - what makes you think, he got it instead of you? If nothing has been said to anyone?

@cbabie - It took me all day to get our tax documents ready for the accountant. It was complicated as DH retired in the middle of the financial year and other stuff with properties. I do hope you have a better night sleep tonight. I personally feel that if you can sleep you can cope with most things

    Hello to @gemwolf110 , @thelsightedgeforever, @RetiredAndLovingIt and @LULUREBEL

I have decided to bite the bullet and see a foot specialist. I made an appointment for next week. The physio is having issues with getting me back on track as the pain in the foot is like 8/10 on some of the exercises that she wants me to do and I can not have my foot strapped up permanently.

    Take care

@trooworld I've been reading a lot about dogs and fireworks lately. I don't remember that being a problem in the past when I was younger. So is it a new thing or because of social media, people talk about it more? But then you never heard of people getting their pets teeth cleaned or them having prozak or other type of meds. Yes, on the earthquake. I have a friend whose hometown is in Ridgecrest and then I found out my cousins have family on the other side of our family that live there. I knew my aunt used to live out in CA but didn't realize there were other family members still living out there. Such a small world. I think that would be scary. I was wondering if you are in a high rise, where's the safest place to be for an earthquake. I would think the roof? Where as in a tornado go to the basement if there is one.

@lulurebel That's great you got in a step workout and a some nice walking. How was the Astros game?

@cbabie Your dogs only move when I come into the house. Which book are you reading?

@Trishastime I like that Get Back song. Yes I will sing it often. I have another song I sing when I'm at the grocery store and see something I want but know it's not good or me. Walk on By by Dionne Warwick.

@teresaw1020 How was the wedding? Did you make good choices? I definitely would have went for the cake as something like that only comes around once in a while versus other foods that you can eat more often. Unless you go to weddings all the time. lol I could just lick the frosting off the cake and leave the rest behind and still be satisfied. But then you will get back home and do your fasting and all will be right with the world again. You've done it before.

@its_cleo That's good that you are looking at your overall mealplans and seeing where you can tweak. I use ground chicken breasts in the recipes that call for ground beef as my dh can't eat any red meats due to a blood disorder. Sucks for me as I need red meat but I'm too lazy to make chicken and beef. Although I admit I do when my daughter comes to visit as she says the spaghetti tastes "gross". Although nothing beats a good steak though. lol I moan through the entire thing. She and I will go out for steak and she orders chicken tenders. I'm like how can you go to a steakhouse and order chicken? :sigh: But as she likes to point out, you take care of your menu mom and let me take care of mine. lol

@gemwolf110 Yes office politics are the worst. How was your consistency in your eating plan this week? Mine was good until about Thursday. So Get Back as Trisha says.

@trooworld, Yes, I have been watching the news about the earthquakes and FB post from my family. I have family in Bakersfield and in Nevada who have felt the quakes. Scary for sure!! The worst part is not knowing when they are going to happen. Stay safe! <3

@its_cleo, I hope you find out about the job soon so you can have it behind you. I think taking a look at your carb intake is a good idea. I was really shocked to find out how many carbs I was eating even though I was eating what I considered a very healthy diet. I’ve also been trying to eat better qualities of meats. I’ve switched my ground beef to grass-fed beef. It cost a little more but I think it’s worth it and it tastes sooo much better. :)

@cbabie, bummer that trying to sleep in your bed didn’t work out as you wanted. I hope you start feeling better soon so you can get some much needed rest! <3 Yeah, I like seeing the grade of my food in Carb Manager too. The foods that get an F grade are the ones that I’m either giving up entirely or limiting to just an acceptable amount.

@TrishasTime, I pray that the foot specialist will be able to help you. I know that you are sick of being in pain! You and poor cbabie are having such a rough time and I’m so sorry for you ladies! <3

@theslightedgeforever, Hahaha! Yes, I’m a major frosting girl too! Unfortunately, there was no cake! The couple opted to have ice-cream instead. And yes, I am back on plan starting today! More on that below. ;)

So, I went to the wedding yesterday and had a really good time. The young couple is precious and the venue was a beautiful country wedding "barn" with amazing views! I did have one little incident because of a detour we had to do on the hour drive we were running late and I wasn't paying attention to my speed and sure enough, I got pulled over in this tiny town we were driving through going 61 in a 45! :o The officer was super nice and ran my license and let me go. I think he saw three middle-aged women dressed up going to a wedding and cut me some slack. I was so happy that I didn't have to go home and face my husband with a ticket! ;)

My eating at the wedding was the most carbs I've had in over a month. They had BBQ pulled pork, mac & cheese, and fried potatoes for dinner. And instead of cake, they had ice cream. VERY tasty ice cream! So, I ate what I ate and that is that! My calories, the best I could figure were actually good for the day but the carbs were off the charts. That is OK though. Weddings are going to happen and I'm not going to be upset about it at all. However, today, I start my 8-weeks of LCHF with NO cheats! I watched this video from an IF/Keto guy that I really like and he talked about needing to eat low carb/high fat long enough to become fat adapted. Which is the process your body goes through as it changes from using primarily glucose for energy to using primarily fat. I'm going to be strict until August 31st just to see if this Keto thing is really for me or not. I figure I can do anything for 8 weeks and it just might get me to Onderland!! B)

@its_cleo Yes, it was scary. I need to come up with an emergency plan and get emergency kits because it is inevitable that a big one will come. You are welcome for the sites, I collect way too many recipes! :) Chilling out sounds like a good plan. I was tired, too, so slept in until almost 8 which is almost unheard of. Good luck with the food tinkering.

@cbabie I'm sorry you had a rough night last night, I hope tonight is better.

@TrishasTime I'm about 3 1/2 hours away from where the earthquake happened. But they say to expect one sometime in the future, a bad one. :( I'm glad you are going to see a specialist. I hope you find some relief.

@theslightedgeforever I don't know...I don't remember it either, but maybe because when I was a kid, I was so in my own world lol. It was scary. If you were in a high rise, I don't know, I guess the roof? It's so scary.

@TeresaW1020 Thank you, yes that is the worst part! That stinks that you were pulled over but good thing you were let go. Yummy food! Good luck with your experiment. I hope you figure it out!

Hi gals. We painted one of our walls in our living room a nice medium blue and then I went and worked for 3 hours. I came home and took a nap and then we hung up the big print we bought, it looks nice on the blue wall. Our condo is really coming together! Eating: not the greatest. I bought chips and dip yesterday which is something I haven't done in a long time. :( I ate a lot of them. I haven't tracked in weeks. I need to get back to it. I'm going to start tomorrow. Yes, I will, I promise. Why not today? Because I'm going to eat chips and dip and I don't want to track that lol.

Hi all, lazy Sunday here today. Should do my walk later tho, not supposed to be so hot.

@its_cleo hope the job situation turns out better than you think. My dd is having a rough time at work also. Office politics are the worst!

@cbabie Sorry about you sleeping in the chair, that can't be too comfortable. When I had the broken arm & leg, I finally resorted to sleep in the other bed, propped up with pillows. That way I didn't disturb dh. Know what you mean about the surgery..my knee was a chip fracture on the top of the tibia, so no surgery necessary, just absolutely no weight bearing for 12 weeks until the bone filled in. Was so glad not to have surgery.

@trooworld I would not like earthquakes, glad you are safe! You sound like you are doing well getting settled in the condo & decorating. We've been here 2 yrs now & still not a lot of decorating done...just don't have that talent.

@TrishasTime yeah, its a long drive to get the gkids. Usually dd brings them up for the 4th of July & she stays a little while & they stay another 2-3 weeks, and then we take them back. But this year, it didn't work out that way, so they were here about 10 days. She did offer to meet us halfway to get them back, but I had broken her light last time we were there & dh wanted to fix it for her. (It needed a new switch) I am just happy they are only 400 miles away..they used to live in Georgia, and that was 900 miles!

@theslightedgeforever We could go to a wedding together...I'll eat the cake & you can have the frosting! The only frosting I like is the whipped kind.

    Good Morning everyone

    Happy Monday !!!

@theslightedgeforever - How are you going about getting back to where you once were?? Have you stepped out of the "over the holiday" blues yet? What are you going to do today to get back on track? (Do I remind you of someone???) LOL Here is another song for you by Queen (one of my fav bands) "The Show Must Go On"

@cbabie - How did sleeping go last night?

@TeresaW1020 - It is good that you can go out and have fun and get back on track the next day - I think that it is what life is about. Good luck on the Keto and I am so glad you get did not get a ticket

@trooworld - So you have had the chips and dips - are you back on track today? Are you tracking everything that you are eating? The condo will always need something to be done - you need to prioritise you

@RetiredAndLovingIt - I am so lucky to have one GD living with me (she is now 18) and the other just 2 kms away. it seems funny when you say it is hot. In Australia, we are freezing cold

Yesterday was a lazy day. I even went down the street to and bought a cooked beef roast, sliced it up and added gravy for dinner. Ironing is done, ready for me to go back to work today

    Take care

@teresaw1020 It's those little towns you have to watch out for. My dad was a cop in small towns. I know exactly how he operated. That's how they get their revenue. I'm glad you didn't get a ticket. I hope your new plan works for you. At this point, I can't seem to do anything for a week let alone 8 weeks. I'm in a day to day mode.

@trooworld I did the chips and dip while on vacation. Funny thing is that is the only time I do that. Because I'm still fat, obviously that is not my problem. I have to get my mindset back to where it was. I wish there was a remote I could use on my brain. Wouldn't it be nice for a rewind button to just take you right back to we went off track. Your condo sounds pretty. In my dd's new apartment they have that color painted in the kitchen.

@RetiredAndLovingIt Ha on the cake/frosting. I'm the same way with pie. I don't like the crust so I leave that behind. My friend thinks that's the best part. So she eats my crust.

@trishastime Yes, thank you for pushing. lol My mil came back tonight so I'm sure that will get me out of vacationitis mode and back to a normal routine. We left her with her daughter for some extra time. She's old and you never know when she won't be around anymore. This period is extra bad so I just feel I have no energy whatsoever. But as the saying on my mantra bracelet goes, No excuses. I need to stop making them and just do it. I love Queen too. So how are you doing with the weight loss.

    What are your July goals?

@RetiredAndLovingIt Thanks, we are getting settled in nicely! It's funny: every other place we've lived, we didn't really put much into I guess because we didn't own it (we didn't really decorate it). Now, we are really caring about how it looks lol. I don't know that we have a talent for it, but we are trying our best to make it look decent. :D

@TrishasTime I am back on track today, thanks. I didn't track a lick yesterday, we'll see what I track today. Scratch that, I just went and tracked my breakfast and lunch. ;) Thank you for the tough love. Enjoy the work day.

@theslightedgeforever Yes, it would be nice. Luckily, I don't get chips and dip all the time or I'd be in big trouble because chips and dip is a trigger food for me. Thanks, I really like my new condo. Your daughter's new condo's kitchen is painted blue? That's really cool! :) My July goals...I haven't thought about them, so here goes: track 6 out of 7 days, drink 100 oz of liquids a day, lose 2 lbs. I think I will add my goals to my "EMPOWERED" to remind me of them. ;)

Hello gals. It seems I've gained 3.4 lbs since 6/28, which is the last time I weighed in. I need to get a grip. I'm on my way, I think.

The Astros game was a lot of fun but we lost! It was my 4 year old's first game so it was a special night and she loved it! Sorry to be MIA - I was off 4 work days and can only respond on the message boards when on my laptop. And I avoided that like the plague until today hahaha!

@trooworld we moved into our home last October and it is a steady stream of projects! We painted my girls' bathroom on Saturday and have two more bedrooms to go. Good luck with decorating!

@TrishasTime I'm a tax accountant so I feel your pain lol! I'm in the middle of a big deadline at the moment.

@TeresaW1020 I have several friends on Keto that have been successful. Hope it works for you!

@theslightedgeforever it is so hard to get your mind right. I get it. I truly hope you can get there - I'm in the same boat!

July goals - maintain my workout schedule and lose at least 5 pounds. I'm trying to stay very active and work out at least 30 minutes each day.

I'm nervous about having left WW but I didn't want to pay monthly anymore and didn't really like the direction the company is going in. I lost weight on MFP before (about two years ago) but I stopped losing last year. It seems that if I don't eat super healthy all the time, I don't lose weight, even if under calorie goal. I hope that's not the case this time but I shall see.

Is anyone double tracking or using a WW-like app and not counting calories alone? Just curious how y'all are working it. (yes, Y'all, southern bell here! =P)

I hope everyone's week is off to a great start.

    Morning gals

Well I tried to sleep in the chair again last night woke up with a neck ache eye ache headache so, We have an extra bed i am going to try sleeping in tonight to see how that goes. its a single bed. I went to church yesterday and it was good to be back. My fingers are still swollen And the pain is better. Prescription or ibuprofen is not good on you either, so I'm trying not to take much. I Got it down to about every 12 hours, However,If the pain is too bad regardless of how many hours it's been 6, 7, 8, I'll take a pain pill, because I know that I'm crabby irritable and I'm not helping anyone.

@trooworld Isn't it fun to own your own place and put your personality and your style into it and no you don't have to it went permission. I'm so happy for you and your husband. You were going to get back on track one day at a time because you're what? "empowered"

@TeresaW1020 I to like just the frosting skip the cake, The Glad you got to eat the ice cream that's good too. I'm just tracking right now.You have to start with a routine and that's the biggest one I need to do so that's where I amTrying to watch my carbs but purposely tracking. It sounds to me like you're beginning to find your zone just keep moving forward.

@RetiredAndLovingIt I don't know what I'd do if I had a broken leg and broken armI, I can still function and for that I am grateful. Glad to get to see your grandkids where pretty well grown but I still enjoy them.

@TrishasTime You made me smileThank youI can just see my sister new, Have a good day to visit. listening to the music you like. Makes me smile. Glad you're ready to go back to workAnd you made the appointment for your footIt's good for you to take care of yourself.

@LULUREBEL You will do fine without weight watchers you got a good support team here with these gals And you have the right attitude. You just keep tweaking it tell you find what works for you. you're in charge of your body and your health.

    GM :)

@theslightedgeforever – Your dad was a cop? I thought he was a pastor. Being married to a retired cop – yes I know how they operate  My July goals is to really look at my sugar intake and lose 2 kgs. I know I reach for sugar when I am stressed or bored. I am looking at this habit.

@trooworld – One meal at a time – Just record one meal at a time and you will be back to tracking in no time and then you can start refining your food intake. The weight will then fall away

@lulurebel – Do you guys have tax per returns per financial or calendar year – just curious. I think TeresaW1020 is also counting carbs as well

@cbabie – I hope sleeping in a single bed works for you – girl – you need some sleep to cope. As to a broken leg and arm – remember that was me a few months ago – we all get through it somehow – it seems harder when we are more “mature”

DH just told me that is going away up to a farm to play with the sheep for a week starting 17/07. Really I just can not wait to be on my own – things have not been great since he retired (sorry too much info)
