@theslightedgeforever I know Cindy Lauper, used to love her and Gowan. It was probably the first music I listened to. I think I was around 8 when she was popular. I still love 80s music actually.

@trooworld that is great with the tracking!

@RetiredAndLovingIt, what fun an Alaska cruise sounds!! I would love to do that someday. :)

@trooworld, good girl for tracking! It’s not about loving it…it’s about doing it!! :p:D

@TrishasTime, you are right that I’ve come a long way from when I first joined this awesome group! Thanks for noticing and helping to remember that no matter what I’m NOT giving up! 😊

@theslightedgeforever, Yeah, my poor painter was holding the color swatch when I came in to see my newly painted pink laundry room and was super quick to point out how I had picked that color. And I wasn’t even high when I did it!! I did love me some Phyllis Diller!! :D I hope your friend will look at what Dr. Fung has to say about diabetes. You just reminded me that I need to schedule a mammogram. Yuck!! :|

@its_cleo, you will figure out how to get those extra pounds off and the great news is that you are maintaining and NOT gaining. Changing our habits is very hard and does take a lot of work. :)

Hello ladies! I went to my WW meeting and lost another 1.2 lbs this week. My grand total now is 58 lbs gone forever!! I'm such a turtle of a loser and since going off sugar and eating lower carbs I've lost 6 lbs. Of course, it's hard to know if it's the low carb eating or the intermittent fasting finally kicking into gear. But whatever, I'm a happy girl! :D

Yesterday, I went and got my teeth cleaned and my lady noticed that my teeth were so much easier to clean and asked me what I've been doing and she noticed my weight loss. Soooo that led us to a nice chat about IF and going off of sugar. She wanted to names of books so I was happy to oblige.

And another cool thing happened last night. My husband had bought me two beautiful leather coats years ago and unfortunately, they never fit me, so they have hung in our coat closet with the hope that one day I would be able to wear them. The black leather one still has the tags on it!! Last night, while we were watching TV and a girl had an on a black leather coat and I said that I wondered if my coats fit me yet. So, I tried them on and they do fit! They are still a little snug if I want to button them but by winter they are going to fit perfectly!! My husband almost cried he was so happy for me. <3

    Good morning everyone

@its_cleo - No it is not my home and I am talking about DS. He is the one that has to leave his rental. I would love to do an Alaskan trip as well. I hope your friend is okay. Stents keep blocked arteries open - so hopefully he will continue to be okay. Cindy was one of my favourites when growing up. yesterday they had a ring in on the radio as I drove to work - what was the number one sone the year you turned 14 _ the one I like most was "lucy in the sky with diamonds"

@theslightedgeforever - Fruit also has sugar in. Hospitals count tea as water, so that is why I asked. Bana pudding here is banana in a pudding (the pudding is milk-based). I hope the mammogram results turn out okay

@trooworld - well done on the pretracking :)

@teresaw1020 - I have sent you a PM re the scales. Congrats on the loss - 58 pounds is such a huge number. You are making such wonderful NS milestones.

Today I am back at the foot specialist. Let see what he has to say. My goal is to manage, manage, manage (defer defer defer surgery). BUT I want to be able to live life as well
DH was up at 4am this morning and gone in the caravan to a farm about 4 hours away. He will be away to Sunday and I am so looking forward to time by myself (ignore the 18 year old that lives with us).

    Take care

@trooworld If perfectionism is serving you well, then keep it in your life, but if not...…. We always have an online survey that they send us so I'll complain then. I'm not doing another one as I don't need more radiation in my body. I often wonder if doing this every year for 20 years will end up giving me cancer because too many x-rays. But then they always say catch it early, so...….

@its_cleo 80's music is still the best I think. lol I looked up the Group of Seven paintings. Beautiful nature scenes. I bet in real life they would be stunning. So how goes the eating today?

@teresaw1020 I say if they can detect a tumor in other parts of our bodies without squishing them flat, then why don't they do so? Think testicular cancer. Hooray for more weight loss. Doesn't matter which plan is making you lose, it's the fact that you are sticking to it. That's awesome on the leather coats.

@trishastime I like the Lucy song. Mine was Staying Alive by the BeeGees. Another great song. I don't mind the sugar in the fruit as I'm hoping the vitamins in the fruit are leaching out into the water. I always use lemon(even though I hate lemon) and then one other thing. So far it has been cucumbers and another time tangerine. I drink 2 mugs of tea in the morning which is actually 3 cups of water as my mug is slightly bigger than a cup. Then 2 mugs in the evening. prepared with a tea bag and a packet of sweetener. I'd like to cut down on the sweetener which is stevia as it's really just a dab of stevia with a bunch of chemicals thrown in, but I like my sweet tea. Tea is my relaxer. I need a new healthier relaxer. Have fun being alone. I LOVE alone time. What did the foot doc say?

I went over on calories, did 15 min walking, tracked my food, not enough water.

    @its_cleo Thanks!

@TeresaW1020 LOL...okay! Congrats on the loss, woot woot! WTG!!! That's really cool about the coats.

@TrishasTime Thank you! :D Enjoy the time away from the hubby. What do you have planned?

@theslightedgeforever It serves me well in my job but not so well in weight loss so there you go.

@theslightedgeforever - I was wondering what your daughter thinks of you not doing any more mammograms? Over here it is not a painful, a few years ago at the private clinic I go to - got new machines. So I can tolerate it for the 30 seconds that it hurts.

The foot surgeon has said that the bone cyst has not grown (woohoo). He wants to send me for an injection for the inflamed tissue /connectors around the area so they are blocked from the pain. The guy who he spoke to on the phone was not keen, so I have to have a meeting with him as well.

@trooworld - how did the tracking go yesterday?

I signed up for Cindy's Christmas challenge so I am hoping that will keep me on track together with IF. I feel as if a truck as run over me this morning and I am so looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow

@trooworld So shoot for just a little less than perfect in the weight loss arena. 99% and hopefully you'll start having the same success in your body as you do with your job.

@trishastime You must have misunderstood me or I miscommunicated. I'm not stopping the mammograms. My family history is too great for that. Usually it's not a problem with pain as I'm blessed in that area. They say the smaller the boob the higher the pain. Plus when they get the lymph nodes involved and all that pulling it's uncomfortable. This lady gave the machine a few extra twists on the clamp this time. I think they should only do ultrasounds as they catch so much more than the mammograms. I had a benign tumor show up on an ultrasound that didn't on the mammograms. I fought and fought them trying to get the ultrasound and the breast specialist told me when he gave me the results that I was correct, there was something there. I'm too paranoid when it comes to this category. What does Cindy's Christmas challenge involve?

I stayed within my food boundaries, walked 15 min, tracked my food, not enough water. Trying again tomorrow,

@TrishasTime I'm glad the cyst hasn't grown. The tracking yesterday was 50/50 which was better than 0. I am tired, too. But it could be that I got up at 4:00 a.m. because I have to be at work at 6:30.

@theslightedgeforever What areas of weight loss do I shoot for less than perfect in? I have the same problem (perfectionism) with brushing my teeth. I brush them in the morning for sure, but if at night I can't brush my teeth AND use my water pik AND use the little pokey thing for my implants that I can't remember the name of, I usually don't do any of it but brush my teeth in the morning. :( I'm getting better at this though, I'm telling myself to at least brush my teeth at night.

@TrishasTime, sent you a PM. 😉 I hope you have some great alone time!! What is this Cindychallenge you speak of?

@theslightedgeforever, Yes, the squishing is the worst!! :s

@trooworld, perfectionism is a hard character trait to get past. My husband has that issue and I’m always telling him to chill out and go with the flow. Easier said than done, I know!! :)

Good morning! I got up and accidentally took my nighttime pills instead of my morning ones and my 10 mg. of Melatonin is making me want to lay my head down and take a nap. Soooo stupid!! :s My mind is on overdrive because we are actually considering moving out of our current home and buying a new one. We are going over today to talk to the real estate agent in the subdivision we want. I’m trying not to get excited about the idea until we see if we can even afford it. I’ll let you all know! :)

@Teresaw1020 - Wow going form painting to considering buying a new home - I am excited for you.

@trooworld - I get up at 5am to be at work by 6.30am, so I am hearing you as well. I do not know how you used to include gym time before work as well (heavy load) At least you have started tracking. Why not make a deal just to track one meal (dinner) for the next few weeks. Get that down pat and then perhaps move to include another meal.

@theslightedgeforever - Yes I misunderstood. This will be the first year I do not have to have both a mammogram and an ultrasound as the tissue is not dense any more. When I go, I get the results on the same day

So I have decided to follow IF (18/6) but counting calories in the open times. This has resulted in a big loss and really I am very happy. I am finding now that as I am not mindless grazing all day, and also recording, I make deliberate choices of what I want to put in my mouth. There will be the occasional day where IF will not happen but that will be rare.

I am cleaning out the pantry today - so that will keep me busy

    Take care

@TeresaW1020 Yes, indeed! Oh man, you are going to be sleepy all day! How exciting, possibly moving! Good luck with the decision.

@TrishasTime I used to get up at 4 to get to the gym, but it was very very hard. That's a good idea to just try to track one meal and move on to tracking 2. I think I will do that. And if I track more than one meal in a day, good for me. :D I hope you like IF. I couldn't get past the hunger, I tried it for 3 months and it never worked for me. It works for many, many people though.

Hello all. I'm getting ready to go to Trader Joe's to pick up groceries for the week. Our plan is hubby and I each cook a home-cooked meal on the weekend and then the other meals are kind of instant meals from Trader Joe's the rest of the days. Today, I am making Chicken Shawarma wraps in my Instant Pot. I'm making a Greek salad for inside the wraps.

@trooworld - I am in another FB group and they have mentioned trader joes. They say to be careful of the so call"healthy foods" - they have ingredients in that are not so healthy - read the labels - hat for you to undo some things

@trooworld Yes, 50/50 is better. Keep going. I don't think I'd be able to get around the digestive issues that follow me when I try and fast. I don't do too well when I'm hungry. Nobody wants to be around me when that happens. lol So I'll just stick to my plan of portion control and better choices. What recipe do you use for the Chicken Shawarma? I just bought my son and dd an Instant Pot when it was Prime Day.

@teresaw1020 How was real estate hunting?

@trishastime I hope the IF works for you. Finding the right plan is so important. Yes, sometimes the packaged food has lots of sodium. But it beats ordering pizza or getting take out.

Friday I went to a dinner and was over 500 calories for the day. She served these nice slushy drinks. I had two. That will rack up the calories. But it's refreshing in the summertime.

Today I stayed within my food boundaries. Tracked all my food.

    Good morning!

@TrishasTime, I’m so happy you are liking intermittent fasting! I honestly believe that I will be doing it forever. :)

@trooworld, I love Trader Joes!! <3 They have the best produce and so much of it is cheaper than Walmart. Of course, Trisha is right about needing to read labels. Since going low carb, I’ve discovered foods that claim to be “Keto” aren’t even close. :#

@theslightedgeforever, slushy drinks would be my downfall to keeping within my calories too! Back in the day, I made the best vodka slushies. 😉

Soooooo, my big news of the day is that in less than two months we will be moving into our new home!! To say my head is spinning is an understatement considering we just talked about it last week! We went to a neighborhood that we had seriously considered building a house in before we moved into our current home, but the builder at that time was a flake and it didn’t work out. So fast forward almost 7 years and the neighborhood is almost done being built by a really great builder. I had picked a lot and house plan I liked but we found out that there were no lots left to build that particular house on. So, we walked through my second choice house which is close to being finished and we fell in love with it. It has some really great upgrades and will have a sweet little yard for our dog to play in. So we pulled the trigger and signed the contract yesterday! :o Our real estate agent is showing our home today to a couple who love our current neighborhood and if they were to buy our home it that would be incredibly awesome!! We know this house will sell and we are praying that we can get top dollar for it. :) And during all this upheaval I need to stay focused and not lose sight of my weight loss goals. B)

@TeresaW1020 congratulations on the house! That is so great. Yes it’s always stressful, especially when it’s happening so quickly but I’m sure you can stay on track.

@TrishasTime that is cool IF is working for you too. I would love to try it but I’m with @theslightedgeforever I can’t cope with being super hungry. Also bc of the exercises I do I pretty well need to eat regularly. Just good food/small portions.

@trooworld that sounds like a long day. If I was working in my previous job I wouldn’t be able to track and exercise like I do now. Those things- work etc- really do make it difficult.

I’m good. This week I was semi-successful. I had 3 drinks with a friend but did not eat any fast food or junk food etc with it. So that is an accomplishment for me. I was 300 calories over for the week but I am taking it as a success bc normally I would be over like 1000 calories.

I’ve been exercising- the sprints have been kicking my butt. Apparently you use different muscles to sprint than run which I found interesting. So sprinting I found muscles I didn’t know I had and they hurt lol. I will do one more session of sprinting and then go back to my longer slower jogs and see if the sprinting has helped my endurance/breathing jogging.

Tomorrow morning I’m going to help a friend do some gardening. I don’t know much about gardening, I’m not even sure I like it but it will just be a nice morning out.

@theslightedgeforever thanks for the info about stents. My family friend- he has diabetes and he ate very poorly most of his life but I would say for the last ten years or so he eats pretty well. So hopefully he won’t need more stents. It’s worrying bc he is in his early 70s and his health is not great overall, he’s had a couple of strokes in the past as well. He came through the surgery so hopefully he will be okay.

@trooworld - congratulations - what an exciting time ahead for you. Does the house come with the lawn already planted etc or is that something that you will need to do when you move in

@theslightedgeforever - As far as your July goals are going - how is the intentional exercise thing happening? Ia m not hungry as I get to eat at lunchtime and up to then - I am incredibly busy at work - so at the moment it is not a big issue

@its_cleo - Congrats on the weight loss. How did the gardening go? I am one that suffers through it and do not get alot of joy - where my BF adores the garden

@teresaw1020 Funny, when I was at the dinner party, I was using your words.... back in the day, only it was gin for me. ooh congrats on your house. New houses are fun, the moving part, not so much. Maybe you'll be so busy you won't be eating and fasting will be a breeze. On the other hand, good planning needs to go into the meal you will eat so you don't just grab whatever.

@its_cleo good for you for cutting back and making this work for you. Plus no junk food while at with friends. Lots of progress being made. Good news about your friend. Bad health can be turned around with good food. So how was the gardening? I've bene gardening about 5 years now. There are times I love it then hate it. But then that's life, ey? I've learned location is so important for flowering plants.

@trishastime Intentional exercise thing, not so much. I take that back, last week I was doing well on my 15 min morning walk. I have a similar problem to @trooworld about perfectionism, I tend to blank out stuff if I don't do the whole amount like I wanted. I did half of it. So I'll be working on the other half this week. Thanks for asking.

Over by 277 calories. Not as bad as I expected. I grazed all day long. AC broke and I was hot and there you go I guess. It's fixed now. Tracked all my food. No exercise. Water goal met.

    Good morning! :)

@its_cleo, curious to know how you liked doing gardening. I told my husband that I might want to plant a small vegetable garden if our new back yard is big enough and then he had to point out to me that there are bugs in the great outdoors. :#:D I think it's good to do different exercises for all our different muscles. I'm bad about doing the same things over and over and then when I do something different I'm in pain for days.

@TrishasTime, I think you meant that question for me. ;) Yes, our new home will come with a small front and back yard that will be planted with grass and they will give us a few bushes in the front to make it pretty. Then it's up to us to do any other plantings. We will put up a fence in the back yard as soon as we take possession of the house for our dog.

@theslightedgeforever, Yes I'm excited about the new house and getting to buy new stuff and decorate it. I am NOT excited about packing up this house and trusting movers not to break any of my stuff! :# AC's always seem to break when it's super hot out. I'm glad to read that yours is back up and running. :)

Well, we had our first showing last evening and the couple loved our house, which is encouraging. :D Our house is small and that is the one thing that will hold them back from buying it. We will know in a day or two. And even if they don't buy we know this house will sell because it's in a very desirable neighborhood and I live in the original section which has more character than the newer section. I will say that I don't think my house has EVER been so clean and I need it to sell quickly so I can relax and get to packing! :D I'm doing my best to stay on my IF and eating plan. I am NOT going to gain a bunch of weight during this life change!!

@TrishasTime Thanks, I don't pick foods from Trader Joe's based on the label "Healthy" as I am looking at their carb counts and protein counts, not what would traditionally be considered healthy. So, I guess I do look at the labels so that's good but thanks for the head's up.

@theslightedgeforever I don't do well when I am hungry either, I did try it. I tried the tricks that I read about, I tried distraction, I tried drinking salt water, it just didn't work out for me. I used this recipe for Chicken Shawarma it turned out really good (all that oil doesn't end up in the chicken, most of it stays in the Instant Pot): https://www.jocooks.com/recipes/instant-pot-chicken-shawarma/ I saw that Amazon had great deals on IPs on Prime day, I wish I could take on another pot, I'd love to have 2! Slushy drinks sound refreshing.

@TeresaW1020 I do, too. Lots of stuff to get. I do read the labels, I don't pay attention to claims. Wow, congrats on the new home!!! That's really exciting. Good luck selling your current home.

@its_cleo Yes, it's tough, but I'll figure it out. Since you are using different muscles to sprint, have you been sore?

Hello gals. I have pretracked my day today. I didn't make the chicken shawarma on Saturday, I just marinated it then, but I made it last night and it was really good. I paired it with homemade hummus and a greek salad and pita (I'm having carbs...sometimes). It was really good.
