@debbie7373 Have you tried flexing your foot a few times before you stand up? I don’t know if it will work for you, but it does minimize the pain for me, sadly it doesn’t eliminate it fully.
@ConfidentRaven Thank you for the suggestion. I have tried flexing and stretching my foot, but sadly it doesn't help. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and sometimes it flares up. This time it's on the sole of my foot again and I have a swollen lump right in the center of the ball of my foot. I'll just have to stay off of it for the most part for a couple of days and the swelling should go down. I'm hoping I'll be back to getting my steps in soon. Thanks again🤗

08/01: 202.8 . First day ever doing this, tracked all my food, and was under calories by a lot. So far, so good. Getting comfortable with it slowly but surely.
08/02: 202.0 even with the struggle of hanging out watching the dodger game. Limiting myself to only a few lower calorie beers. Few chips and salsa. And nothing else, I was able to stay under my calorie count by a small amount. Really only because I worked out hard enough before so I could have those yummy things.
08/03: 201.6. Going in the right direction. Stayed under my calories for the day. Had a great workout. Got all my water in plus some. Getting into a rhythm to get me where I want to be. Yay!!
08/04: 202.8. OOPPSS WRONG WAY! didn’t have a strong day yesterday. Had a girls day and enjoyed myself. Today is a new day and back on track. I’m going to get rid of that pound I gained and some!
08/05: 202.4. Not what I wanted or expected. I know I have a lot of water weight going on. Had a great day yesterday with exercise. Plenty of water. And stayed under my calories. This heat has me retaining water. Or at least that’s what I’ll keep telling myself.
08/06: 202.0. Not where I want to be.. but on my way! Had a great day yesterday stayed within my calories without starving myself. Plenty of water. And had a great workout. I love being back in the gym. No stopping me now... hopefully.
08/07: 200.8 is this for real?? A little accountability and motivation can truly go a long way. Finding myself again mentally and physically are showing me i can reach the goals I have set for myself. I’m not allowing anyone to get in my way. And even when good food and drinks are dangled in my face. I don’t turn them down I just limit myself and portion my food. I have found enjoyment in the gym again and even being there by myself I push myself. There is no greater enemy than the person staring back at me in the mirror. I can’t wait to keep this journey going!
08/08: 199.6. Getting there! Yesterday I didn’t feel like i had a “great” day. But it wasn’t horrible. Didn’t get as much gym time as I wanted but every little but helps to keep me on track. Food choices were ok. But dinner for someone’s bday had me really paying attention to what was going into my body.
08/09: 201.4 well this is super frustrating. I’ve been doing super good. Even went to the county fair last night and stayed away from things. If I knew this was gonna happen I would’ve enjoyed myself more. I was under my calorie count and walked over 15,000 steps. I’m super disappointed and starting to realize why i never do these things.
08/10: 200.8. Not how I wanted to end things but I’m pretty happy. On to the next...

08/02: 131 Excellent. Now my round goal weight doesn't look so crazy. However, it will be a light 3 days of exercise. I had a biopsy today, so exercise is limited to walking (with no vigorous arm swings!) Also trying to avoid the carby snacks calling me!
08/03: 131 Slightly light calorie day yesterday cause I wasn't hungry at dinner. Went for a short walk with an ice pack stuffed in my sports bra. That's one way to beat the heat!

Day/Weight/Comment
08/01 134.0 Back from a conference trip with lots of eating out and drinking (and let the food logging slip because was afraid to count up the calories, but realize that is how it is so easy to derail and not get back on). First day back after long day of flying yesterday and weight is up 2.2 pounds from last weigh in on the 27th so not my best start to a round. I tend to gain a lot of water weight flying and expect I will get back to where I was before the trip pretty quickly but may need 2 more rounds to get to STG of getting into the 120's. Felt great to get back to the gym - step class and weights today (which may not help with water retention either!) but was able to increase weights on bench press, deadlifts and squats so trip did not seems to have an impact on strength! NSV: At least I am below the weight MFP predicted based on food diary for today!
08/02 133.4 Starting to go back in the right direction! Back in the <10 pounds to get to the healthy weight category. Pushed cardio at the gym this am - latin dance class, abs on my own, and then spin class and looks like calories are on track for today, so hoping to get to where I was last round in the next few days.
08/03 133.9 well not quite the right direction...
08/04 132.7 I'll take it! Steady progress for losing conference/travel gain and almost back to low from last round (need to lose another 0.9 lbs). Calories are under for day, and did weights and elliptical so should have an overall deficit for the day. Did increase weight on bench press, squat and deadlifts and feeling some soreness so may not see a drop tomorrow if there is water retention with muscle recovery, but it will come in time!!!
08/05 131.8 Whoot whoot! back to lowest weight from last round and have erased travel gain! Cardio day - did step class in the morning and then back after work for spin class. Under on calories so far, so hoping to stay on track for rest of the round. (of course I will not be surprised if there is an increase tomorrow given the nonlinear ups/downs of weight loss).
08/06 130.5 Woohoo! This was unexpected, and likely water/glycogen loss from the double cardio yesterday (am and then pm so time to recover), since CICO would suggest a much more modest 1/3 pound drop - but not complaining! Hope that I can keep it until the end of the round, but whooshes like this take some time to stick so will not be at all surprised if it is up tomorrow. Sushi dinner with a good friend from out of town so will bank calories during the day to enjoy dinner (hopefully sodium won't be a killer). Plan to do weights and spin class at the uni gym later, to stay on track as exercise over the next few days may be limited due to travel.
08/07 130.9 Totally expected after a dramatic drop over the last several days (plus had sushi and soy sauce last night so water weight is probably a factor - but totally worth it!). Thrilled though that weight is still in the 130.x's for now, and in terms of trends I seem to be back on track. Out of town the next 2 days so will not weigh in but will track food. Turns out the gym in town has a $10 day pass, so I may try to go to the Zumba class after dropping the girls off at camp and then hit the weights (DH said that they had decent equipment). NSV: Had to put on old foul weather gear (bought in 2004) as we get caught out in a thunderstorm on the water, and was pleasantly surprised that it was too big, even though I still weigh more now than I did then. The weight training has really helped with body composition along the way.
08/08 DNW OoT For a town of 900 people (and a lot of retirees) the gym here is pretty nice! Got in full weight routine including barbells for bench press and deadlifts with some improvisation, so on schedule for the week. The Zumba instructor was on holiday this week, but did try their yoga class for stretching (I really should do more of that for balance as well as strength to complement the other workouts). Thunderstorms in the afternoon so nice and steamy now that the sun is back out, so will skip bike riding for cardio. Maybe tomorrow morning or more likely I'll go back to the gym and air conditioning for an elliptical workout in the morning now that AirPods are charged again. (ideally I could ride bike to gym) Looking forward to having local shrimp or crab for dinner (or both :-)
08/09 DNW OoT crazy day. So hot and humid and being outside, I did not really feel like eating, but realized on the drive backhome, that I had only 350 calories so far for the day. Ate marcona almonds in the car as we wanted to get back before dark, and then snacked in the evening at home, but was under for the day. Did elliptical and abs exercises.
08/10 128.8 Great way to end this round! Surprised that I was able to recover after the big gain at the beginning to end up losing 3 lbs during this round (a record for me)! I am sure that a lot of this last drop is water weight due to heat/sweat and not eating much yesterday, but thrilled to be in the 120's and just over 5 pounds to the healthy weight category (another 2-4 rounds should get me there if I stay consistent with tracking and exercise). So will celebrate this moment for now, as tomorrow is the start to a new round!

Mon 15/07: 166.2: Goals: There are no excuses.I 😈 choose instant gratification over sensible eating at a family buffet yesterday. I haven't done that for some time. It did not go unpunished. My new healthy body rebelled big time. I spent an wretched evening feeling bloated and uncomfortable, with an extra big a big kick up the a** when I stepped on the scale this morning. Now, I know I haven't put on 2lbs of weight overnight, (though I may well have with the food I ate), and a lot of it is probably be water weight. But enough is enough, and too much is just plain daft. We all do daft things from time to time. The trick is to put it behind you and move on. I am choosing to have a few reset days of light eating to see if I can redress my blowout yesterday. Though if the truth be told, I have been sliding most of the week. I know this is only a blip. Nothing gets in my way when I'm on a mission.Goals: ✅ Later: Noticed I had the wrong date for my post this morning, so I’ve fixed it. Hopefully back on track.

Sydney is fairly new, and very nervous, and we haven't really got to know him until this week. DH is the doggie person in our house, but Sydney won't go near him, so I'm it! Worse than having a toddler in the house.
Fri 05/07: 162.5: Goals: ✅ Lots of walking and gardening today.
Sat 06/07: 162.5: Goals: ✅ Lots of garden work done today. Perfect weather with a bit of a breeze to take the edge off the heat.
Sun 07/07: 162.6: Goals: ✅ Normal fluctuation.
Mon 08/07: 162.5: Goals: ✅ Another plateau. 😏
Tue 09/07: 163.6: Goals: ✅ Drat! The weekend caught up with me!
Wed 10/07: 163.4: Goals: ✅ *sigh* Keeping on keeping on!
Thu 11/07: 163.6: Goals: ✅ I was quite disappointed with this result until I noticed my muscle %age has increased since last week. I have been working hard on lower body strength for a couple of weeks. Also yesterday, DH asked me if I had lost weight again. It just goes to show that Progress isn't always about the scale dropping. Looking forward to the next round, and making more progress! 😂Food

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

08/01: 317.7 (-1.6) ... starting to recover from my recent uptick.
08/02: 316.1 (-1.6) ... more uptick recovery. This is where I should have been at the end of last round, sigh.
08/03: 314.9 (-1.2) ... back down to my previous low from last week.
08/04: 314.8 (-0.1) ... new low, barely.
08/05: 315.2 (+0.4) ... as far as fluctuations go, this is pretty minor. I was pretty lazy this past weekend due to being sick. That ends now - took a six mile bike ride and a one mile walk before work today.
08/06: 314.8 (-0.4) ... to be honest, I'd be happy enough if I just maintained this weight for the rest of the challenge.
08/07: 313.1 (-1.7) ... feeling good this morning! Completed the first day of the Couch to 5k program.
08/08: 313.5 (+0.4) ... VERY happy about this. Yesterday I didn't think to weigh myself until after my run, and I figured most of the loss was through sweat and that I'd rebound hard today.
08/09: 314.4 (+0.9) ... Little uptick likely due to eating a heavier meal for dinner. Completed Couch to 5k W1D2 this morning.
08/10: 314.7 (+0.3) ... Up a little more.

08/01 – 142.5 – I need to remind myself to drink more water. I slacked on it yesterday and could tell I was retaining when I got up this morning.
08/02 – 141.5 – I drank my water yesterday. Good start for the weekend.
08/03 – 142.5
08/04 – 142.5
08/05 – 143 – I was so busy Saturday I didn’t have a chance to post, then I got sick to my stomach Saturday evening and spent the night in the bathroom. When my stomach started to recover Sunday morning, all I wanted was carbs and that is what I ate. I’ll see how things settle down over the next few days.
08/06 – 141
08/07 – 143 – Yesterday was a fluke because I had a fasting (including water) medical test yesterday so I slept in as late as possible. I ended up grabbing some fast food on the way home from the test, so I’m sure my sodium is up today. I’ll have to really watch the next couple days because we have a party Friday night.
08/08 – 143 – I need to focus on water again.
08/09 – 142 – I did better on water, but not great.
08/10 – 142 – I know this won’t last, but I’ll take it!

8/1 - 181.8 - 47g carbs, 40g net carbs. Carbs were: flour on fried chicken, stir fry vegetables, crackers, peanut butter.
8/2 - 183.6 - 43g carbs, 38g net carbs. Carbs were: cauliflower, spinach, pretzels. ALL the carbs showed up! Did not drink enough water either.
8/3 - 183.6 - 110g carbs. Carbs were: vegetable lasagna, 1/2 slice of garlic bread. Parts of my kitchen rebelled this week. The ice maker jammed with ice and spewed water all over the freezer for a few days and the garbage disposal decided to leak water. This was me being tired from running errands all day and not preparing my own meal first. WHY did I promise to make vegetable lasagna and garlic bread for DH & DS? I had put it off all week. I ate it, did not enjoy it. They said it was great, it just wasn't tasty to me.
8/4- 183.2 - 35g carbs, 33g net carbs. Carbs were: 2ozs of potato chips. Time for a fat fast.
8/5 - 183 - 31g carbs, 22g net carbs. Carbs were: cauliflower, peanut butter, kale.
8/6 -183 - 54g carbs, 49g net carbs. Carbs were: rice, stir fry vegetables, peanut butter.
8/7 - 183 - 47g carbs, 43g net carbs. Carbs were: cauliflower, cake, peach,
cantaloupe.
8/8 - 183 - 67g carbs, 59g net carbs. Carbs were: bread, broccoli slaw, peanut butter.
8/9 - 183.6 - 52g carbs, 49g net carbs. Carbs were: bread, pound cake.
8/10 - DNW - probably 183 though. 63g carbs. Carbs were: hoagie roll, broccoli cheddar soup.
Carbs fest continued today too. 2 months. I think that's enough.

62.8 lbs lost since returning to MFP, Oct. 2017
76.8 lbs lost since Sept. 20176 -
Hi all, this is my third round and excited to see where this next round takes me. I first started my MFP journey in 2015. I dropped down to 138 pounds and went into maintenance. I was fine for awhile until my world went crazy and exercise was no longer a priority. After putting on over 20 pounds, I got back to working out and calorie counting diligently. I have IBS and no gallbladder, so I stick to a low fat diet. I am also hypothyroid which makes losing weight at times challenging. I keep on trucking because the pot of gold at the end of 🌈 is health and an increased life expectancy.

08/01 127.2lbs. Weight is up from yesterday, but I refuse to stress over it unless the scale goes up ten pounds or something crazy. I got my strength training in and will take a walk to end my day. Lesson I’m learning: don’t sweat the small gains.
08/02 127lbs. Today was my rest day. Did a short step aerobic workout and made sure my protein intake was good. I’m starting to like what lifting weights is shaping my body into; really keeps me motivated.
08/03 127lbs. Today was 🥵 hot!! I got my workout 🏋️♀️ in early and walked to my doctors and the grocery store. I ate smaller frequent meals so I could have enough calories for the day (eating less is so easy in the summer). My calories have been too low on hotter days. I than turned on my fan and took a nap. Goal for this next week: meal prep and pack snacks for jury duty to get in my calories and protein.
08/04 127lbs. I almost didn’t want to train today. Unless I am walking, I train early. Today, my sister surprised me and we went out shopping during my usual workout time. By the time we got back, the thought of working out seemed exhausting. I forced myself to do it anyways and feel energetic from my lifting session. I was even able to keep up with my protein intake with careful food selection with lunch and snacks I now keep in my purse. Hopefully, the rest of the week goes this well.
08/05 126.8lbs. Woke up early and got in a good weight lifting workout. Food was on the low side of ok. My calorie intake is kinda low but part fear of an IBS attack and part habit and part 🥵 makes it hard to eat more. Greek yogurt and protein snacks have been helpful. Yesterday I bought a foam roller for muscle soreness and recovery and it is one of the best fitness investments I ever made. If anyone struggles with muscle soreness and wants to speed up recovery, foam rollers are a game changer.
08/06 128.2lbs. I weighed late today, so I’m not sure 🤔 how accurate that weight is. Today was my first day of jury duty and it was a looong day of sitting around. I fell asleep 💤 a few times. I did ok with food and walked during breaks. I came home and did some recovery yoga 🧘♂️ and foam rolling because: Stiff muscles+sitting for hours sucks.
08/07 126.5lbs. I officially now have two weeks of jury duty (it’s kind of cool doing my civic duty. Feels like I’m in one of favorite court shows). It’s totally throwing off my schedule; there is not enough hours in the day to get everything done. I’m exhausted 😩 and debating whether to workout with the little time I have left tonight. Ah life and it’s throwing of curve balls...
08/08 DNW today was exhausting and long and had no time to weigh.
08/09 DNW. Was exhausted and caught up on sleep.
08/10 127lbs. Got some weight lifting in today and ran some errands. Going to bed early and hit it hard tomorrow. Can’t wait to get back to my regular schedule after jury duty is over.4 -

Day/Weight/Comment
08/01 130.6 Great start to the round!
08/02 131.2 Water retention, maybe. My doctor prescribed IV fluids because I'm not doing well, and yesterday's IV pumped me full of salt, plus I had a craving for even more salt and ate two bowls of popcorn. I'm too far into this journey to freak out over the numbers bouncing around from day to day. At less than 10 lbs from goal (!) I should really be more focused on muscling up a bit rather than weight loss, but I'm starting out pretty weak and tired and finding it tough to get started.
08/03 131.2 Maintaining is good, no complaints.
08/04 131.2 Low energy and slept a lot yesterday- so much for the IV boosting my energy! Salt loaded at the end of the night, hope it makes a difference. At least I'm maintaining!
08/05 131.6 Slightly up, but basically maintaining.
08/06 131.8
08/07 131.8
08/08 130.8
08/09 130.6
08/10 130.6 Kind of a boring round and I didn't have much to say about it. Maintained exactly from day 1, but lost 0.6 lbs (using my starting weight from the last day of Round 84)!

I am in again and have done 13 rounds with the last 2 being weight gain and taking 3 rounds off. It is starting to get depressing but I am the reason for the gain. My highest weight was 197# at 5’4”. I’m 48 years old.
I was 189# when I first started keto (1/1/18), and had gotten down to 150# before I let life interrupt me.

Round 84 (my round 2) SW - 160, AW - 161.2
Round 85 (my round 3)
8/1 - 159.5 - started beef & butter yesterday. Not angry about the weight loss. Am over the headache I had last night.
8/2 - 159 - worked out yesterday, so I have some water retention, but that’s expected. Staying the course with beef & butter.
8/3 - 159
8/4 - 159 - I’m tired of this number.
8/5 - 159 - look! Again!!
8/6 - 159.5 - well. That’s not what I wanted. 😒 I need to TMI. Maybe that would help. Ugh!
8/7 - 158.5 - finally a different number! Frustrated is an understatement, but I’m staying the course. Lots of changes happening and still basically no activity, so I just have to ride this out while my body finds the new “normal”.
8/8 - 158 - more movement. Can it be real!?!
8/9 - 158 - hanging in there!
8/10 - 158
Average Weight - 158.75

Round 85 (9 for me)
Lots to do this round. Starting off with a weekend road trip before wrapping up my summer teaching and preparing for our big summer party. I fell behind on logging and posting last round, but I’m determined to stay on track this time to keep from falling back into bad habits.

Day/Weight/Comment
08/01 187.2 – Off to a good start with a nice little drop. Busy morning, so I only had time for coffee before class. On the way home, I stopped for gas and then at the farm stand to pick up a few pots of zinnias to refresh the garden beds. I was ravenous by the time I got to my mom’s for lunch. Fortunately, I had some extra calories to spend. Goals met today!
08/02 187.2 – Got a lot accomplished in the house and garden before I got on the road. So it was another busy morning, but this time I made sure to have a decent breakfast so I’d be less tempted by all the high-calorie rest stop offerings. BBQ for dinner, but I stayed under my calorie limit and met all my goals again today.
08/03 No scale – Having a wonderful time visiting family for our traditional summer crab feast. A bit over on calories and a lot over on salt, but I know I can get back on track and deal with a bounce in the week ahead.
08/04 No scale – Wrapped up a lovely weekend with a long ride home. Too much salt and not enough water, but I managed to just stay under my calorie limit. Back to work (and the daily weigh-ins) tomorrow morning!
08/05 187.8 – Okay, there’s that post-weekend bump. I’ve got my work cut out for me this week. Worked for an hour or so in the garden after class but didn’t get much done in the house. I’ve got papers to grade and a quiz to make up tonight, so it’s going to be a long one.
08/06 187.2 – Better. Met my goals today, but I still have a ton of stuff to do before the end of the week. Thunderstorms predicted for tomorrow, so I’ll focus on finishing up some of the indoor stuff and hope the garden gets a good soaking.
08/07 186.4 – The rain did indeed water the garden. We got over 2 inches! Heavy thunderstorms all day brought some wind, but thankfully the power stayed on. Met my goals, but I’m feeling a little burnt out and unfocused. Just need to make one last push to finish the grading and then get some sleep. Last day of classes tomorrow, and then I’m off through Labor Day!
08/08 186.0. – Another nice little drop, building my confidence that, yes, I can stay on track even when things get hectic. Taking a bit of time to log my food and post here really helped me keep my goals in mind. Now that classes are done, I can relax a bit and enjoy my company this weekend. Well under my calorie limit the last couple of days (too busy to spend much time on meals) so maybe that will give me a little wiggle room for sangria this weekend.
08/09 184.6 - !!! I’m thinking this is a false low, since I slept in and weighed later than usual. I also drank a LOT of caffeinated tea last night while waiting for my son’s delayed flight, so some or all of this drop is probably water. The flight was over 3 hours late due to weather, but I got some extra chores done before I finally headed to the airport. Today was busy – lots of errands and party set-up. Under calorie limit but way over on sodium (take-out lunch and dinner), so I expect to see a bump tomorrow.
08/10 185.4 – More realistic, but still a nice result this round (-2.4). Great party with awesome people - too tired to post last night. See you in the next round!
