    This week's successes:
    - started experimenting with IF.
    - days off the plan is to eat only between 3 and 8 p.m.
    - the plan for the work week is to eat between noon and 8 p.m. & do everything else pretty much normal  *[Except for Tuesday because I'm donating blood]
    - it has felt great so far. It seems my brain is happy with breaks from eating
    - once my meal time (usually 5:30 am) passes I stop being hungry until next meal time & when I eat I'm quickly satisfied

    This week's challenges:
    - everything seems good
    - some headaches because I got too much caffeine the first two days (green tea nothing added)

    New and just started over again 2/11/19 at 225.8 and need to lose over 100lbs and prefer the challenges to keep me more motivated. I have started over for the 2nd time this year already. I started in January had some issues, and finally started again in February. So up for this challenge!

    Successes: Was pretty good with my eating (for most the week), IF, and walking. Am over two-thirds of the way to my weight goal - aiming to lose 14-19kgs (30-40 lbs) more.

    Challenges: Yesterday we had a nice day out, where I relaxed a bit and ate more carbs that usual, including some cheesecake. I'd say that had a bit of an impact on my weight (I didn't lose much this week), but equally it's nice to be able to occasionally go off diet to enjoy the moment. As long as I don't do it every week!

    how many weeks are left in the year?

    I found a date calculator. 19 weeks. So I can sign up to lose 19 lbs by the end of the year?

    I'm not sure this will work because I have badly damaged feet so very limited in ability to exercise, my only tool is diet.

    @LAT1963 Welcome to the challenge. 19 pounds for the remaining 19 weeks is a great goal. Many people have lost weight with calorie deficit only. Most of my initial loss was from deficit eating. Trust the process.

    Successes: Am making kombucha for the first time this week, it's still brewing so I can't drink it yet, but can see the bubbles and baby scoby growing so all is good. In the past I have made homemade yoghurt and sauerkraut successfully, and also had a string of failed fermented efforts (ginger beer, filmjolk, water kefir). This has been one of my goals over this year, to regularly make and consume fermented foods for their health benefits.

    Challenges: I am eating a bit too much sugar-free chocolate. Eating 1-2 serves (depending on the brand, "one serve" may only be two pieces) about 3 days a week. I think this may have slowed my weight loss.

    Also, I have been feeling more stressed over the last week, and let my sleep slip a little with a few late nights. So my goal for next week is to reduce stress, improve sleep, and cut back on the chocolate.

    Hi LAT1963, by all means join us. Weightloss is largely about how/what we eat, so don't worry if you can't exercise much.

    While everyone has a different way of eating (and pick what works for you), if you are interested, my recommendation is to consider a low-carb healthy fat (LCHF) wholefood diet combined with intermittent fasting, good sleep, stress relief, and some naturally fermented foods (for probiotics).

    Best book to help me was The Obesity Code by Dr Jason Fung, who also shares the info on his blog and in video presentations available on youtube (n.b. I haven't signed up to his paid services, plenty of info available free, and I read his book through my library).     In the past, I have gained and lost weight before, and used to think "exercise" was the necessary ingredient, and would do way more exercise than was sustainable long-term... which inevitably meant when an injury, illness or life issue came up preventing exercise the weight went back on too. Now I think that eating cleaner is essential, is easier to manage regardless of what else is going on in life, and exercise is an optional extra. Exercise is good for our health, but shouldn't be the backbone of weight management.

    In January I was 263.5lbs, now I am 182.8lbs, I do some light exercise, mostly walking, but when I started I struggled to exercise and lost weight primarily from diet - and even now it's really not enough exercise to make a significant contribution to weightloss. I also have improved my sleep and try to keep my stress levels down, as these have an impact too.
