Non Scale Victories

Disney last year (first time there) was part of the motivation that got me started losing weight. I was absolutely miserable there due to the heat and all the walking around, being right around my January start weight I'm sure.
I remember the Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs minecart ride being particularly painful when I was jammed in there.0 -
I believe I was at around 400 when I was borderline at Disney. I was able to fit uncomfortably in most things I tried to ride.
@jjlewey you could try Dollywood when you come through.
Ya we wont be in Pigeon Forge area long enough for Dollywood. We will probably hit up downtown Gatlinburg and maybe the Island. I am thinking the skybridge looks fun.
The last time I was at Cedar Point, circa Y2K, I was probably somewhere between 275 and 300 pounds and fit on everything fine. That is still a long way down the road.0 -
I can't do theme parks, I'm a coward lol
Restaurant booths I'm just about OK with now though.1 -
BOOTS! Last year, my knee-high boots fit but were tight. Fall isn't *quite* here, but I thought I'd do a spot check. Boy, do them babies fit so much better now! So I'm super excited to wear my boots this fall! Also, turns out, one pair was *over* the knee boots and I just never knew it cause I couldn't squeeze them that far up my leg. I was pretty evenly plump all over, and the one place I wanted to lose weight is the one place where it's the last to go: my legs. I hope when I reach my goal that I will be happy with my overall shape, but for now. Being able to wear my boots comfortably is amaaaahhhhhzinnngggg.5

Much like @dhiammarath (and others on LL) I like data.
So my NSV is data related.
In Jan2019 my A1C was 6.3 and in Aug2019 it is 5.8! For reference, 5.7 is the high end of "normal" so I am stoked that it returning to a more normal range.7 -
@hansep0012 That's awesome! Congrats!0

@dhiammarath thank you!
NSVs really help me remember that being healthy has many components.
It was also interesting to me to summon up a conversation with my doctor about having the blood work done and explaining my data needs, lol. She grinned at me and said it was an excellent idea. And here I was dreading having to convince and plead to get it done.3 -

lol. I might have to plead not be tested but never to be tested. If I were to see my doctor at a restaurant he would probably ask for a blood sample to test how my fish course impacted my omega-3 levels.1 -
I've been sleeping a lot better. Not waking up during the night like I used to and generally feeling more rested. So much so that I've been able to be completely caffeine free for the past 2 weeks, where I used to need a Monster (energy drink) every morning to function.6

I feel like I have not had one in too long. I realize that is my fault for being perpetually distracted and less happy than normal and not looking for one like I should... wait...
I went to a ball game last week and I sat in the bleachers for 3 hours. I had one of those padded deals with the backing but the padding was only about 1/2 inch thick. I wasn't totally comfortable and at the end I was wondering if I would make it but I did. 2 years ago I would not have made it more than 15 minutes nor would I have even fit inside the portable stadium seat thing.
I also had to walk about half a mile to and from the field and climb the bleachers to get a seat all of which I did without feeling like it was any effort.
Not huge but a decent accomplishment for me and it is helping me achieve my long term goal of being a better uncle.10 -

That's a great achievement, I love it when the realisation hits you that all the effort is worthwhile.2 -
@NovusDies seat victories are awesome. I saw a movie last night at this theater with super narrow seats that I've always had to squish myself into previously. this time it was comfortably snug.6

I’ve always been a bit paranoid that my calls are too big/disproportionate and that they wouldn’t get any smaller.... put my knee high boots on and they were far too big around the calf!! I’m finally starting to see abs register results on myself!0

That's great, especially as winter is coming.
I've never been able to fit into wellies for that reason, my standard is ankle boots and I've had problems with those and fat ankles!1 -
I’m excited for boot season too! My legs are the part I’ve always been self-conscious about. Last fall, I was able to wear my boots but they were super tight. This fall, they are are NOT and I’m so excited. I suspect that the last 15 will come mostly off my legs as it’s the first to gain and last to go. -.-
But there’s hope! I have hope! Especially since I bought a new pair of fall boots just this weekend. I’m ready!!2 -

The above NSV was repeated on Friday night but this time presented a different challenge. The bleacher row seats at this field were very close together and I had a lady of some size behind me and a gentleman with a little extra mass in front of me sandwiching me in a bit. At my heaviest my weight would sometimes make me feel trapped and claustrophobic in those situations. The last time I was on a plane I struggled to keep myself calm for the hour long trip.
The guy in front eventually switched seats with a much thinner guy who was visibly annoyed at the amount of space I was still taking up so I obviously still have some work to do. lol.
Anyway I got through it again. Still not completely comfortable but it was definitely something I could not have done not that long ago.5 -
I tried on my son's XL t-shirt yesterday just to see how it fit. It was slightly tight in the tummy area, but looked good everywhere else. I was wearing 3x/4x men's t-shirts with just a little room in them in May. (I don't like the tapered cut of most ladies shirts so I wear men's.) If I wanted to I could wear the XL now, I like them just a little roomy though.5

I saw an Ortho PA today for my knee. My X-rays were examined and according to the PA the results are "Not terrible." I liked her.
So no knee replacement surgery for me right now. I can be managed with shots and pills until it becomes more terrible.
When I was getting up from being on my back I was, of course, dizzy. I never really thought about the cause but she said that it was most likely my lovely skin situation and how it affects my blood flow. I don't know why that had not occurred to me but now I have hope that I am losing that nuisance problem too in a few weeks.
