Macros

If I use the default Settings for macros it’s saying I should eat almost double the amount of carbs than protein. Doesn’t seem right to me? Any advice on what I should change the percents to? I’m currently trying to lose weight.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Weight loss is about calories, not macros/carbs.
You can set your macros to whatever you find works best for you.
I prefer 40% carbs, 30% fat, 30% protein.6 -
Why doesn't it seem right?0

I went with the macros mfp assigned me. I don't pay much attention to them. I focus on staying in a calorie deficit and lose weight.
Don't forget that vegetables and fruits have carbs. It's not only breads and grains. 😉
Good luck with your journey!1 -

Okay thanks! I set mine to 40%protein 30% carbs and 30%fats. My calories are set to 1200. Will see how my first week goes and I can always change it.Why doesn't it seem right? Why doesn't it seem right?
I guess because I’ve always had in my head carbs are “bad” which I know there not. It just seemed high to me..I went with the macros mfp assigned me. I don't pay much attention to them. I focus on staying in a calorie deficit and lose weight.

Thanks so much! Yes I track everything I eat no matter how big or small
what do you mean by a calorie deficit? 1 -
A calorie deficit means eating fewer calories than your body burns. If you follow MFP’s calorie goals, you will be in a deficit.
You’re correct that carbs don’t directly matter for weight loss. Macros are important for health and satiety, but do not cause or promote fat loss. The only thing that causes fat loss is a calorie deficit.
Therefore, you just need to make sure you get the minimum amount of protein and fat needed for health. You don’t need to worry about macros beyond that unless you have a medical condition that requires you to track them.1
