Will MFP let me know when to lower my calorie goal?

If you're using the website, it should adjust itself as you lose weight, or so I've been told.
I use the app and it doesn't update automatically.1 -
You will have to go to "Goals" and save your latest weight. The calories only change by a very few every ten pounds.
It used to prompt me every ten pounds, "Do you want to recalculate your goals?" It's been years since I lost weight, so I'm not sure if it still does that.

I've had to do it manually. Basically even though everyone sneers at it, I find the "If every day were like today... You'd weigh 52.3 kg in 5 weeks" really useful because it tells me if I'm heading in the right track and also when I might need to go and readjust my weight loss goals to slow down my weight loss.0
