Hi gals. Mille failte to all the new ladies.
I’m so pleased to be able to say that I am within 5 lbs of my UGW, (having lost almost 10 lbs since beginning of August).
We went dancing this morning, despite the warmth of the day. Just taking a few minutes on here before I go out into the garden. We are having our annual ‘Indian Summer’, which is warmer than our actual summer has been. Going to make the most of it as it won’t last long. Lots of cutting back needs done while it’s dry.
(((Hugs))) to those who need them.

Beth - crossing fingers there's not something foul with your bank account.
I don't check ours every day. But should. Our bank has kindly set up an auto withdrawal from savings if we have an overdraft in checking. I told them we NEVER have an overdraft (if we do, there's something terribly wrong) and I don't want a scalawag to be able to drain savings too. When I told the teller we don't want that overdraft protection, she looked puzzled. I need to get in there to talk to management. In the meantime I've cut savings way down. They let us open CD's with a $250 minimum so that's where it gets plunked when there's extra.

Went for my run. Weather was perfect, sunny, warm, with a light, cool breeze. I had backache when I started, but it wore off.
Found a new apple cake recipe in the National Trust magazine. I'm going to make two with our free apples. Both loaves will be for weekend guests. This weekend, and when we are back from the cruise. I like to have something to offer people when they arrive after a long journey. They have a crispy sugar topping.
DH is preparing to cook some of the fruit to freeze with blackberries. The new freezer arrives on Monday, but I can squeeze a small amount into our current ones. The pears still have to ripen a bit.
DH is out shopping for supplies.
Pleased with my hair. Glad I've got that done.
Going to make pesto this afternoon. There should be enough spare to freeze some. I need to use up the basil on the window sill before we go away. Also the parsley, though I will plant those pots out in the garden. A job to do with Bea tomorrow. The mint I could freeze in ice cube trays for drinks.
Much love to all and hugs to those who are struggling today.

My Dear Ladies!! I am so far behind, I fear I will never catch up. I love keeping up with you all, but still having some trouble with focusing my eyes which makes it hard to read even when I have the letters blown up!
Rebecca - Your grandbaby is so beautiful!
Amber - I can't believe they are restricting breast feeding to babies. My babies were chubby little dolls, but they were all skinny by school age. I can't imagine making a newborn cry when Momma's milk would soothe them. I was a skinny Mom...I didn't start gaining weight until somewhere in my 40s. And wasn't obese until my 50s when I had to be sedentary after my accident.
Breaking 200 pounds! Congratulations!! That was the happiest day of my weight loss journey so far. Now I have recently broken into the 170s.
Bras I have 20 years of anger on this one...I was a very small A cup when I got married for the last time. I was "made to" get a breast augmentation by my husband, who like every man, thought I didn't have enough...grrr. I would give anything to be my flat little self again. It was SO much more comfortable. And now that I am heavier, I look like I have 4 breasts...the two up high and the droopy things below. I could have gone without a bra, instead, I am always uncomfortable...especially in public where I have to wear a bra. It comes off the second I get out of public!
On a happier note...today is 3 months until my local grandbaby is due!! I am so anxious to meet her. She is already very special to me! My sister sent me a t shirt to wear to the baby shower. The baby's name is Iris, so the shirt has a single iris on it and fits me perfectly! Such a sweet thought!
I am feeling hungrier and after logging since Jan 8, I want more to eat!! I still haven't gotten my stomach to handle a lot of vegetables (gastroparesis) which seems like the easiest way to get more food in without a lot of calories...I am trying to drink water whenever I feel hungry as it always seems to come up in articles that we are a society of dehydrated people. What are your "go to" super low cal snacks??
Hope everyone is doing okay! For those who are struggling: Hugs and Prayers, for those healing: Quick Recovery Prayers! Love you All!!

(((Workoutaholic))): I am sorry you are feeling sad.
Heather: The Christmas ornaments are beautiful!
Beth: I can’t help wondering whether your bank is competent. I hope you get things taken care of to your satisfaction. In your situation I would consider switching to another banking company. :ohwell:
Lanette: I am another one of the women pushing her husband to move more and improve his health. Both of his doctors are on my side, too, but DH does what he does. He has been taking physical therapy and is moving a bit more than he did, and he is talking about taking a chair yoga class. I hope he follows through. :flowerforyou: I am planning to travel and have tickets. I’ll be going in October. I wish DH would come with me, but air travel is horrible for him and he won’t go. :ohwell:
Barbie: I also have the ability to read books on my phone thanks to the kindle app and Library to Go. I’m glad our town has this option along with books in print. My phone is always handy. I still love the feel of physical books printed on paper but Library to Go is a wonderful resource and I can read their books in the car while DH is driving, at an appointment while we are waiting for our turn, or . . . Books are a delight.
The drive to our niece’s new home yesterday was long and arduous due to a traffic accident on I-5 southbound. Both directions were blocked for quite a while, and finally they let one lane squeak through. By the time we headed home the roads were clear.
The touch and feel book I bought for grandniece’s baby was a big hit with the baby and his mama. I’m glad I snapped it up when I saw it on the shelf. Our niece’s new home is lovely. The back yard is wonderful and the neighborhood is quiet and well kept.

Allie[/b] - Sweet little Chester.... such a hard decision for Tom. I think it's almost harder for guys to let go of their pets, at least the ones I know. I've generally been the one to say it's time and take them to the Vet. DH did once, many years ago, and was so frazzled he tore out of the place without paying the bill.

This was certainly true of my husband when our little Lucy passed. I'll put the story in a spoiler in case it might be too difficult for some to read.He did help did the hole for her before we took her to the vet. He took her on one last very short walk, and he stayed with her while she passed, but when we got home, he just went into the house. Everyone did. There I was with poor little Lucy in a box and no one else around. So I put her in her little bed and inside the special box we'd purchased for her, loved her up one last time, then went in the house and (trying not to be sarcastic) asked if anyone was going to come out and help me say goodbye to Lucy. They did come out, but no one wanted to see her again. I found that a little odd, but I guess people have different reactions to death. I didn't mind holding her, loving her, and putting her in her final resting place. We said a few words, and I had everyone write a message to her on her "casket," and then my husband left again, and my sons and I covered her in the ground. My husband still doesn't like to talk about it, and I think it's because he didn't walk through the whole thing. I was the one giving her the IVs, I loved her in the end, and covered her into the ground. I feel absolutely peaceful about her passing, and know that we did everything for her during her life and at her death.
The rainy season has begun here, and while I do appreciate our cloudy, wet weather, I do miss the sun.

Add me to the list. My husband has gained a lot of weight since we married, and he always blames me for that, even though he's the one who stops for fast food (I see the boxes/bags in his car) and buys Oreos. He also snacks in the middle of the night -- usually cereal or a piece of toast, but still.
So, we have a gym membership that we get a discount on from my work, and his work pays 100% of his fee. It is less than a mile away -- (.8 miles, actually, my son had me measure it earlier this week because he wants to ride his bike down to it.)
This might get long and become a bit of a rant; apologies in advance. I'll put in a spoiler. So, before my sister died, I was very active at the gym, and actually hit my goal weight, for about a week before she died. My husband guilt-tripped me for going to the gym without him. The problem is, when he goes to the gym, he spends 15-20 minutes, max, and that is not enough for me. I went into a bit of a funk of my sister died, and gradually stopped going at all -- between feeling a little depressed about her death and the guilt he was dishing out about the time I was spending at the gym, I just gave up. In the meantime, we are still paying for the membership.
So, about two to three months ago, he starts guilt-tripping me about how we aren't going to the gym, and we need to get back into going. So a couple weeks ago, I started going. The class I like to take is at 5:30 a.m., and he doesn't even think about waking up until about 8:30, so I didn't even ask him to go. He got all offended that I went without him, so we set a time to go together one evening. My son was super excited because he wants to start getting energy back from having his appendix removed.
Too long story, shorter and to the point. I have started going back. My son and I have gone a couple times together. My husband? Not once again. I have invited him, and he always has an excuse. And he needs to go. When we were in Mexico last January, hiking all through those ruins, he was really struggling, and I was worried about him. But he's done nothing.
I will continue to cook healthy meals (he makes toast or eats chips or cereal after) and encourage him to come to the gym with us, but that's all I'm doing.
On the other hand, my dad had serious health issues. Before I was born, my mother was told he wouldn't live to be 30. Medical science stayed ahead of his death, and he lived to be 70. On his 70th birthday, he thanked my mother, and told her he was still alive because of her. And that is true. She wasn't a big nag about his diet or exercise, but she made sure that he always had the right food at the right time, and she encouraged his long hikes (when he was still able to take them).

Josephine the Ballerina got her diagnosis - neuroblastoma of the spine (malignant). Her prognosis will depend on the grade of the tumor, which they don't know yet. As of now, they are planning to stay here for treatment rather than go someplace like St Jude, Hopkins, or Boston.12

Such devastating news. Praying for Josephine and her family and friends. Its so hard.

Karen - So sorry to hear about Josephine. Such a horrible thing for her and the family to go through.
Felicia - Don't let your husband's intransigence derail you. We are all behind you. Who wants to be disabled by ill health and obesity?? Even if he does, you are worth much more than that. His attitude is bordering on coercive control. You have to live your own life and make your own choices. You choose health and strength.
The cakes turned out fabulously, although I haven't actually tasted them, just the batter!

Allie we ARE proud of you, hope you're proud of yourself for all the great choices, AWESOME steps. Well done! That Chester frame was truly a gift.
Welcome Capricorn2721, would you let us know what you'd like us to call you and generally where you are?
Welcome Denise in California and con VERY grats on the healthier weight!
Welcome Tracy in NCtrl WA, you'll find wisdom and compassion here, people who've faced debilitating pain and seemingly impossible weight goals... and have triumphed. We are with you.
Heather laughing through dance class burns double calories. “Mermaid on the beach” you truly have magical vision.
Karen in VA expecting GS to work on his honor instead of feeding his attitude, brilliant!
Debby bless you for providing safe home for your daughter and gs. Didn't know about your son. Prayers continue for you and all of yours.
Carol, Tracey, Ginny in OH, NYKAren et al, thanks so much for your wisdom and understanding. Yep, I'll just have to take care of me, love him while respecting his wishes. MIGHT hint that I'm available if need be, 2 heads etc. Depends on how “push back-y” he is next week.
Only peeped in yesterday and only thru pg 62 today but I'm determined to get up and out and enjoy this beautiful day by moving some plants around, taking Tumble down with me to measure the water in the cistern before combing her, and maybe even spending a little time with Joe before going out to dinner and local open mic with friends.
Lighter, lovelies!

Debby ... sorry to hear you're down today.
KarenVA ... there are no words when a child is diagnosed with cancer. None.
So the egg is on my face! Turns out that the bank deposit is actually a refund from my son's school for having overpaid on his Fall tuition. Late application of scholarships changed his balance. Only received the notice from the school a little bit ago, though. They have that kind of backwards don't you think?
