Time to sort the weight!

Hi! I’m 27 years old, have two beautiful children and it’s time I shifted my weight! I stand at 5ft 7 and have never been a healthy weight, even as a child and I want that to change.
When I started on 9th September, I weighed in at 260.6lbs. It’s now 18th September and down to 254.1lbs, 6.5lbs in 9 days.
I want to get down to a healthy weight of 154lbs. So 100lbs to go! It’s going to take me a while but I’m hugely determined right now.
I’ve started on a calorie-controlled diet. I eat between 1200 and 1500 a day (my calorie goal it set on here is 1730). As I work on my feet all day, I get most of my exercise through that and walking for now - getting as close to 10000 steps as possible. I’ve joined the gym and will be starting some light cardio this weekend - a struggle for me as my chest hurts from the shortest of jogs!
I’d personally say my biggest struggle is finding food that I can cook that’s relatively healthy but what my children will enjoy also as I don’t really have the money to spend money on two different meals a day.
Hopefully I can find some needed motivation on down days from you guys

Good for you for taking the first step! Me and my husband started 6 months ago, best decision ever. We also have 2 kids. Generally my meals are super simple=
Lunch is meat and salad kit( half)
Dinner is meat of choice, measured carb( either rice, potato or whole grain pasta)
And a vegetable. If kids dont like it they get bread and butter. But over time they will adjust0 -
You've got a great attitude for this. I am wondering why you're eating another 500 calories below what mfp set for you.
As you lose weight, your calorie allotment will lessen. You're not going to have room for that to happen.
Slow weight loss is sustainable weight loss. If you lose it too quickly, you may have health issues.
Did you choose a 2 lb/week loss?1 -
I’m just too full to eat anymore! I actually eat more on the diet than I was before I started, I would only have 1 meal a day and stuff myself on it. Now I’m eating 3 meals a day with snacks in between and drinking lots of water, so I can’t eat any more if I tried. It was hard getting used to having breakfasts in the morning as they tend to make me nauseous for the rest of the day but I’ve found a breakfast that doesn’t affect me too much
And yes, I chose the 2lb/week loss.
As I don’t actually exercise that much yet, only walking and getting steps in, I’m not too concerned about not reaching the calorie intake it suggested, as it’s not many calories being burned. But once I start exercising more I will have to find foods higher in calories to make sure I’m eating at least 1200 after they’ve been burned off0 -
Sounds like you’re off to a good start. A friend with two kids under 8 yo makes healthy meals for her family by sneaking veggies into as many things as possible-riced cauliflower mixed in with other rice dishes, or cauliflower mashed potatoes, Mac ‘n cheese. She also adds zucchini or other squashes In spaghetti sauce, etc. She has slowly won her kids over to a variety of whole grain pastas (lentil, quinoa, brown rice). It’s doable to cook healthier for the family by making small changes and getting sneaky with the veggies.
I started out using the elliptical and could only manage 2 minutes before mind and body gave up. I slowly added time and distance over a few weeks and can now manage 45 minutes. Your breathe and stamina will get better just don’t push yourself too hard.
You can do this and we’re all here to support you. And I have to add, you’re dog pic is adorable!0 -
